Hi There,
Games Day UK is at last upon us and so I have our last preview newsletter for you, featuring some exciting last minute additions to our line up of models in the shape of two daemon engines and a brand new Tau battlesuit! We hope to see many of you on the day, and we`ll have a few more surprises for you on our studio stand as well.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

The Plague Hulk of Nurgle
A lurching, rotting monstrosity that befouls and taints the very ground it walks on, the Plague Hulk is a daemon engine sacred to Nurgle, the Chaos God of Decay and corruption. Designed by Sean Green and Phil Stutcinskas, this huge, nightmarish fusion of bloated daemon-thing and Chaos Defiler is redolent with the marks of decay and corrosion as you can see Here. It will make a fantastically characterful addition to any army devoted to the Plague God, not to mention a great painting project in its own right thanks to the model’s lavish (if unpleasant!) detail.

The Plague Hulk of Nurgle is a hybrid kit using resin components and elements from the plastic Chaos Defiler kit and sold as a complete model.

Blood Slaughterer of Khorne with Impaler
A variant of our previously released Blood Slaughterer of Khorne, featuring a fantastically detailed and savage looking barbed harpoon launcher arm and a new head which you can see Here, this model has been designed by Phil Stutcinskas and Simon Egan. Using its Impaler, this murderous war machine is able to harpoon its enemies and drag them into range of its slashing claws, ensuring that none can escape the wrath of the Blood God’s armies.

We should have a limited supply of this model available at Games Day UK, and the model will go on general release later in the year.

Rules for the Blood Slaughterer with Impaler can be found in Imperial Armour Volume Seven, The Siege of Vraks Part Three
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/impaler.htm

Tau XV-9 ‘Hazard’ Close Support Armour
New for the Tau is the XV-9 ‘Hazard’ Close Support Armour, an original battlesuit design intended to act as a powerful counter-attack unit and mobile weapons platform. A recent addition to the Tau arsenal created in response to heavy losses incurred during the bloodiest phases of the Third Sphere Expansion, the XV-9 is one of the most complex and advanced combat systems the Tau have ever put into wide production, requiring a veteran’s skills to master in combat in service of the greater good. Designed by Daren Parrwood, the XV-9 is larger than a standard crisis suit as you can see Here and looks sleekly lethal. This first version comes equipped with two twin-linked burst cannon.

We should have a limited supply of this model available at Games Day UK, and the model will go on general release later in the year.

Preliminary experimental rules for the Tau XV-9 can be found Here

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Well, I like the plague hulk.
Especially his sword. I think that guy turned out to be quite good.

The Slaughterer Im kinda undecided. I like the overall look and the head of the thing, but those stubby little legs just dont work for me. Could probably look pretty kicker with some Defiler legs.

XV-9: love it. I think thats how all Tau battlesuits (except broadsides) should look. Smooth curved lines. I really despise those boxy things GWs got goin there.

edit: Thanks for the links anyway

Wow. That Crisis Suit is awesome.

Why are they releasing that?

[EDIT]: Wow, that new Defiler is actually pretty decent for the cost. The WS3 still makes me cringe, but other than that, not bad. Ironically, it's the same cost as a Defiler w/Mutated Hull + Indirect Fire from the previous Codex.

I agree with the Crisis Suit! Why can't GW put out suits this good??

That XV-9 reminds me a lot of the recent Cogs releases; the 'wings' on the jet pack, the legs and the general pose.

I'm not sure how much 2 wounds will help given the extreme short range of the suit and the TLoS rules in the current game edition.

Nevertheless, I wish more suits looked like this (and the Cirillo concepts) over the sharp angled suits GW puts out today.

Holy crap that Tau Battlesuit is one of the best models I have seen in a long time. The Chaos stuff is very awesome, but the dynamic pose and detail on that suit is fantastic.

I can't work out why they're releasing Tau stuff though. Are Tau in the next IA book?

I thought the next IA was Ork vs. Elysians, but I don't think that really matters to FW. Rex and the Nurgle sorceror were out long before they got rules in Vraks #3.

I like the new suit and hope FA suits will make it to the codex.

yeah,
I hope it's a sign that armies will get releases at random, so you not waiting for the next GW codex or FW IA book...

Also Every time I buy from FW they ask "what would you like to see FW make?" I always without fail say more nurgle deamon engines/stuff! so as far as I can see FW listen to the customer base... I'm very happy!

Yeah but they were eventually done - that's the point. All the Ork stuff that's coming out now won't show up in book until the next IA, and that's going to be next August/September. It'll still be in there though.

This Tau is just... random.

I said 'Reaver Titan' for months. I now say 'Stormhammer'. Going for 2 from 2!

Probably Nurgle, Africa has the lock on that.

Very nice looking battlesuit, hopefully it's an indication of what new battlesuits from the next Tau codex will look like.

that is a particularly disgusting daemon that they set on top of that -pristine- defiler body.

I think they need to finish the bottom half of him.

I personally love the Tau model. I hope that when Tau gets updated for a new codex more some of these new suits form forgeworld are used. The normal GW ones are nice but not nearly as deadly-looking as the forgeworld ones.

yeah,
I agree, this was the problem with soul grinders.
I'd prefer to pay more and have a completely resin hulk.

But i'll take what i can get. I think i'll buy a couple of these and GS the legs... hell I might make one tracked, some of the new ork resin tracks look awesome.

I'll have to wait for the main release though as I'm not going to GamesDay.

For the love of Gork H! Can't you just enjoy the model for what it is?

It's good to see that Nurgle armies finally get their own Soulgrinder/Defiler.

The Tau suit looks awesome, and I don't even collect them.

However, the Plague Hulk could be used (experimental rules allow it to be used in Chaos Daemons AND Chaos Marines; the only requirement being you need a minimum of 1+ Plague Marine squads).

I may look into getting the Hulk, not sure.

As for the Blood Slaughterer, I like this one more than the previous one.

The plague defiler is quite nice, and something we've been expecting FW to do for a while (rumors of defiler conversions go back at least two years). Yeah, the interface between resin and plastic parts needs work to make it flow visually, but console yourselves with the easier assembly, sturdier construction and cheaper cost not having an all-resin body entails.

I suspect a power tool or other means of creating pockmarks and corrosion would do nicely to give the model a better overall look.

The supply does not get to make the demands.
