I got one box of the Space Wolf Terminators today. This set blows away all the Imperial and Chaos plastic Terminator sets. It truly has all the weapon options. Imperial sets require two different sets to get shooting and close assault Terminator arms and the Chaos set is great on variety except for the glaring omission of Lightning Claws of any kind. The Space Wolf set corrects all of those issues in one terrific set and since they are plastic they're easy to convert, so they're not only great for Space Wolves but for other Imperial or Chaos uses as well.

You read my mind my friend. A box of these, a box of the Chaos ones and a multitude of leftovers from Termie Lord Kits, Dark Angels Kit and Black Tremplar bits - Let the fun ensue...

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

It's the ultimate Terminator Hero box. If anything, with this in addition to Space Hulk, Terminators in general have knocked up a notch in the modelling department. I think we'll see a lot more extremely cool Terminator Captains in all armies... I'm doing my WGBL from this kit. Amazing kits like these break the metal vs. plastic argument as well.

You'll notice that the power sword hand is very similar to the one from the previous edition's SW upgrade sprue.

Of course, there will also be a lot of Space Wolf armies...

I always wanted to pick up a couple boxes of the old upgrade sprue, though. I don't think 5 variants of the Blood Claws arms are enough. Getting enough of the cool stylised shoulderpads is the hard part.

Oh, and there is a left-handed Storm Bolter, so you can do a guy with akimbo Storm Bolters if you really wanted to.

So what is the deal exactly with WG Terminators and Rhinos/Razorbacks?

If I read the codex correctly you can take those vehicles for your WG Terminators. Or am I overlooking something here?

page 61 / termie armor denies the transport in rhinos and razorbacks.
So its possible to buy them, but only WG in PA may ride them.

Yeah, I got briefly excited by that too, before I read page 61. :(

Of course, you can still buy a razorback (or rhino) for termy WG, _provided_ they never get into it - just let it run around empty - not such a silly use of 40 points for a mobile twin-linked heavy bolter.

Double check your facts. There are 5 models on the sprue. You can build 10 Marines with the kit. Ergo, you get two sprues. Basic maths.

Unless of course you're talking about the Terminator box, in which case we're talking about different things.

Yes. I was talking about TERMINATORS...

After building the first 9 of 40 WG termies - I have come to the following conclusions....

1. You end up with so many leftover bits and weapons, its insane.

2. There are absolutely no issues in combining other termie sprues in - both Assault and regular Termies worked just fine.

3. there are a lot of right arms which really, really love to point a long way further right - watch out as otherwise they may not fit inside standard packaging.

4. Adding some custom bases (resin, or home made with vehicle kits/hack and slash as I have done) is so worth it - the added height and scenery adds gravitas to the models.

5. The heads with braided hair are rather annoying to model looking in any direction other than straight ahead - however its easy to snip.

6 - Cyclone missile launchers are annoying to connect in this sprue- it doesnt fit with some of the custom termie fronts such as the one with the wolf on top.

7. The assault cannon definitely fits with the back sprue - tip - put on the backpack first, then connect the assault cannon. Make sure the torso of the figure is pointing up, as to link it up, the assault cannon ends up facing downwards a fair bit.

8. The power weapon/axe is annoying to put together, but not impossible, and the storm shields come in two types - one arm has the shield facing more left and away from the body, creating a more open torso, the other is quite close and covers the main area of the chest. Unfortunately there are no full sized storm shields, only the smaller ones.

9. You should be able to create all special characters in Termie armor from this set with a bit of work/kitbash/greenstuff. True, there are easier ones to do than others - Rockfist comes into mind here, etc, and Grimnar wouldn't require much - even just a chaos power axe with a bit of work on it. Should save some money for the cash poor.

10. Yeah, there are so many bits, its insane.

Excellent. My Deathwatch Terminators are looking forward to receiving said bits.

That's because there's a specific torso that goes with the Cyclone.

Which benefits me just as much as it benefits you.

And it has nothing regarding combi-weapons either. A particularly glaring oversight since the combi-weapons are exclusively space wolf.

I 'spose they expect you to get them from Chaos and/or the SM Commander Sprue.

Yeah, the Chaos sprue actually fits reasonably well with the SW sprue - as long as you are willing to trash some of the iconography on the bits etc - all the added pelts/symbols from the SW WG sprue can really add some value to it.

The belt fed assault cannon is very intimidating. If only they did a new cyclone...

Yes, definitely - a new cyclone would be nice- proper sizing would help too - why is a krak missile from a termie so small, compared to an IG one?

Honestly - bitz order or trade - buying 3 or 4 cyclones otherwise is an expensive process. Especially as Cyclones are far better, in long fangs, and in normal wolf units, as they can turn into AT or into anti infantry easily. Best combined with combi melta's in the unit.

No, it doesn't.

Assault cannon and Heavy Flamer only - cyclones are only available in the regular terminator box.

I would suggest a 1-1-1 ratio of wolf guard terminator box/normal SM terminator box/Chaos Terminator box, and mix and match the parts around for the combinations of look/weapons you want. Either that, or bitz order.
