Well that´s getting bought then.... Have you SEEN the seer riding that thing like a madman? And the smoke!? Ohh the smoke.....

Judging from these photos, this may be the best plastic kit GW have done yet. The level of detail, overall design and dynamic appearance (which, as someone pointed out, looks like their best artwork and not a toy) are really exceptional. I will be getting one simply because it looks so good. I don't know what I'll do with it as I don't play Skaven - maybe pay someone who's a better painter than me to give it a first class paintjob. Although I'll see what it looks like on the sprue first.

Ugh, my current screaming bell is in mid-build right now.
I guess I'll have to see how I can graft on a spare rat-ogre onto it.

It is unfortunate that GW is using dressed stonework for the models - from an engineering standpoint, it cannot possibly work. Stonework (e.g. stacked bricks) has no tensile strength, limited lateral shear strength, and is only strong against compressive loading. Pulling sideways like the Rat Ogre is doing, or swing the bell sideways would only cause the thing to topple down.
But from a painting & modeling standpoint, the additional textures are nice, I guess...
The Doomwheel is far superior from a "could it sort of work?" standpoint.

I dont' fault JHDD for nit-picking on that. It's a valid complaint, really. The old Screaming Bell, for example, looks like it was thrown together from stuff the Skaven might have dragged for who-knows-how-long underground through tight tunnels and assembled on-the-spot, without instructions.

I hate the "duuh, it's fantasy creatures in fantasy land, science has no meaning here!!"- argument. There are just that many boundaries a design can push, and sometimes, models go over that line.
I have no problem with this model, but after further inspection I have to agree on the points JHDD mentioned. Either the bell-swinging-thing (is there a proper english name?) is seriously well oiled or the rat ogre will have a problem.

Maybe it's a single piece of stone thats been worked to look like separate blocks? If it bothers me that much I'll just fill in the gaps with gs. The only thing that really bothers me that much about the model is that the smoke coming from the bell is shaped in a way that doesn't make any sense.

I absolutely agree that a giant stone arch is piss poor engineering, designed by an insane fool, and is bound to come crashing down at some point killing everyone involved.
The question is - Isn't this Skaven Engineering at it's best? What were you expecting, things that worked, and made sense?)

Well, if physics fail to explain the sturdiness of the construction, you can always resort to chaos/sorcery to hold the damn thing together.

These look great, and the lower half will make a great base for a multitude of chaos warshrines (and orc shrines when they get around to redoing the book)

The new abomination doesn't have a model apparently. The pic in the book made it look like the size of a SoulGrinder, except he's connected to a cart v metal legs.
He's about to crush an Empire Handgunner, so I'm assuming it has to be as big as the Bell/Tower.
I've thought about using corpse cart/soul grinder/warp beast and see how it goes.
