I used to work for a crazuy israili guy's moving company. Me and a buddy were up and driving + loading/unloading trucks for about 5 days whilst twacked out of our gourds on over the counter uppers. By the time we got to sleep on day 5 we were definitelyin "Bat Country".

A mere 36 hours (skipping one night, basically,) but in my defense, I did it without coffee.

My personal record is 75 hours before I litteraly passed out in my dinner, working as a security guard where I wasnt replaced for about 3 days due to an oversight at HQ, I called many times, they just kept saying "thats not possible, get back to work". Got a nice pay cheque off it tho I think by the end of it I was makeing septuple time and a half I think I was making around 150$ an hour. And now when HQ gets a call that someone hasnt been replaced they get right on it.

back in high school a buddy and I did 7 days at least 2 times. 2 days and 3 days were easy just had to keep busy. the second time we were trying to break our 7 day mark but went to a crappy movie and both of us fell asleep watching it. we never tried to break our record again. We didn't know at the time "world" record but we wanted to break it. Now I cheat and let the insomnia do all the work.

while on military service, 36 hours walking around to control a depot. Not much though.

Well over 4 days. The army can put you in some situations not conducive to sleeping 8 hours a night...

I think my personal record was about 4 days, but I read an article in a local newspaper about methamphetamine addicts, it interviewed one guy that went on a massive meth bender and stayed awake for a whopping 28 days! Once you have passed the 5 or 6 day mark, halucination sets in and much longer than that, and you become seperated from reality. The weird effects of extreme insomnia were explored in the novel (and movie) "fight club". Anyway, after 28 days awake, this guy was halucinateing so badly that he thought he was witnessing polar bears walking around in traffic on one of the major highways around here, so he pulled his truck over and began chaseing the imaginary bears out of traffic with his hat. He was arrested shortly after...the imaginary polar bears were unharmed.

3+ days in Vegas. 0 sleep until I got on the plane.

Around 72 hours. Crazy camp that really got out of hand in the neck of the woods...

Over 72 hours on military ops

chronic insomnia when i was younger.

went for about 120 hours in the army.

All i could get was 10 minutes here, 15 there, at the end i was sleeping with my eyes open while standing at attention.
sarge noticed that the unit had been worked too hard when half of us where still standing in attention with a blank stare long after the others had left.

The fun part though, was that we took short iq-tests at different intervals, results werent pretty.
we could hardly be classed as human beings when we finally ended the op.

haha going on my third day i was driving and passed out fliped my car and i still drive it its a tank haha

I've never been a big sleeper, but the longest without sleep was just under 5 days due to stress, script deadlines and injuries.
By the 5th day I couldn't remember my own name and eventually passed out through exhaustion.

Nowadays I barely get 4-6 hours of sleep a night and staying awake for deadlines for more than 36 hours doesn't take any effort.

I haven't had a continuous 8 hour sleep in nearly 5 years.

Been up 95 hours, sleep 6, then another 95 hours up.
This was during field-maneuvers, ie, in the army.

It's Guaranteed that you get braindamage in you stay up for more than 96 hours straight, so I'd recomend against that.

@arachnid - I'd file a complaint against your officer in charge. 95 hours straight, is the longest the swedish army is allowed to keep conscripts up, without atleast 6 hours sleep.

The longest I stayed up was about 20 hrs.
After I went to bed at 10pm and didn't wake up until
3:30 the next day!

I once went for 96 hours with no sleep, for no reason othere than to see if I could do it.

Suffice to say, being an Old man of 22 now means I am no longer capable of such feats of endurance, though I still regularly manage 32 hour stretches.

I am going to try the Uberman Sleep Schedule though, see how it works out. An Extra 6 hours a day to piss about seems like fun

When BC came out me and my friend pulled 72 hours of fun with no sleep and microwaved burritos! Only got like 20 levels but DAM it was fun with him! Also pulled 27 hours of no sleep with the same guy with slurpies, waffles, and lord of the rings 3!(the game)

Got up for school Friday morning and when I got home I went to my friends house and we started playing FFVII. We didn't stop playing until we went back to school Monday morning. Unfortunately we also didn't bathe in that time. So all told about 80+ hours. This was in middle school, I doubt I could do it nowadays.

Stayed awake with my best friend for 4-5 days. We couldnt even speak or think straight, maybe barley at all. I remember saying "It smells like wet water." and "How do you drown a fish?"


One of the best days with my friend, we went to the same Burger King like 4 miles away every morning and just stayed inside my room talking all day everyday about girls, life, playing games, doing stupid things and watching tons of movies. We got bord one day and took tons of Gel that was in thee bathroom, no idea why, and started doing mohawks and crazy hair styles. We never took a shower though and smelled soooo bad. On the final day we said screw it and fell asleep for only 7 hours and felt perfectly normal.

Did this about 2 years ago in the summer and now that I think about it, we need to do it again hah

Somewhere between 36 and 48 hours. We were packing up and moving out (things were getting shifty at work in the middle east.) as in REAL shifty, with house arrests and death threats going on. We packed up the whole house, moved it into the cargo hold and then proceeded to catch a 12 hour flight home. I was the onyl one who could not sleep at all on that flight. DAMN CAFFEINE!!!

76 hours once. Was during a school trip to the UK. Got up around 6am, had great delays getting to the international airport (a 450km bus trip through the worst flooding in a decade), delayed at the airport by the storm that caused the flood, finally got onto the plane at 1am. 19hrs before leaving the country.

Couple of hours to Singapore, then a wait there. Long haul to Heathrow. I cannot sleep sitting up, so no rest yet. And no caffine or other stimulants, I often don't react well and plane coffee is hardly appealing. Survived by watching a few movies, then listening to music and meditating a few hours. Not sure if they counts as cheating.

Another 2 hours stuffing around in customs and then waiting for the bus to take us to our hotel. It is 8pm local time by now. We get to the hotel and most of the group either call home or crash. My cousin has been calling the hotel, though, and comes and kidnaps me to an english pub for a few hours. By now I've gone through the tiredness and zombiefication and back out the other side. I go and act all chirpy for a while with my second cousin, have good fun, get dumped back at the hotel at around 11pm. Manage to take my shoes off before collapsing on top of the bed fully clothed and passing out.

Sadistic teacher wakes us up at 6am local time to get going on our tour. Apparently I nearly bit the teacher when she tried waking me up.

On the upside, I'd screwed with my bodyclock so much that I didn't get a lick of jetlag.

During my battle with Insomnia I was awake for 6 days straight the once, that was not fun, by day 4 I was a cabbage, by day 6 I was a lower form of life, it was painful.

61 hours. One of my trips to melbourne to go clubbing with mates - when I lived in sydney (1100km away). I took the bus down overnight (streetlights keep me awake, and I had no curtains to obscure them.) on a friday after being awake from 5am that morning. Was awake all saturday - went and did laps to get my 2nd wind. Went clubbing until 6am (8 hours).
Caught the 7am bus back to Sydney. Crashed when I got to my bed.

It was "chemically assisted" though and I was MUCH younger.

At the end, nothing could keep me awake apart from willpower. I crashed and slept for 19 hours straight.

Back in grade school I managed 4 and a half days over a summer. Yoohoo, fishing, magic the gathering, and more video games than any child really needs...

Digging trenches in my SQ. They were trying to get us sleep deprived and then attack us. Luckily i have insomnia.

In the second semester of my first year in University I did not sleep during the weekends, it was clear from friday to Monday. And even then I only slept on weeknights about 3 hrs. for some reason I find it hard to do this sort of thing now, despite the fact that that was just last semester. It sure helped get work done though. I also had no coffee, or videogames to keep me up, just the desperation of getting good grades. i find the more sleep I get the worse my grades become.
