Went four days without sleep, vomiting every hour or so meant no sleep for me. That was probaly one of the worst things to ever happen to me. When I did get to sleep, only got 5 hours, I was very grumpy for about a week or so.

I don't know about longest consecutive, but I remember during undergrad I went a 5-day week on about 8 hours of sleep spread across it. Once it was over, I basically passed out for 16 hours straight.

I have been awake for 83 straight hours ONCE.
I will NOT be doing that again.
And this was 15 years ago, when the best you could do for an "energy drink" was measured in cases of Mountain Dew...

helped out with youngun's at camp one summer.. thanks to illness, kids being homesick/teasing.. I managed to avoid sleep for 4+ days.. bless caffeine.. and like others, serious wierdness happened about the 60 hour mark.
then when I did fall asleep... I slept for about 30 hours.

9 days, i was in iraq. sure i probably woulda zombie moded longer, but my sarge sent me to medical and they gave me sedatives... ive never had a 12 hour black out feel so good before >.<
After about the 3-4 day mark.. guess the best way to describe it, is I almost felt like my mental state had become detached from my body, so while my body is going through the motions of what ever I was told to do, for the most part my brain was in no way shape or form focused on the task at hand, So guess it was like Auto pilot with the bare amount of mental capacity paying attention to my body, the rest of the brain power was spent day dreaming....
anyone else similar description of lack of sleep?

That is a pretty good definition of sleep deprivation.
I know when I stay up a while it starts to feel that way. For my sleepless marathon is was rotating groups of D&D players at a local Con. They kept showing up, I kept running games. It was a VERY long weekend.

I once stayed up for 57 hrs on end. God, I regretted that for a week....
It was at a youth group campout, and some dumb kid made it a contest. I was in 3rd place. The winner was up the entire campout (72 hrs)

Once i when i first started plaing 40k i stayed up all night assembling my guys (it wasnt many guys, but it was my first time so i was clumsy and such) next day and night i spent getting acquainted with my codex and rule book. and that night i stayed up all night gaming. (so thats 2 nights so far) Next day was divided between an 18 hour work day, and my friend's 21st birthday party...then i slept XD

I can stay up for more than 24 hrs but i cant seem to stay awake during school, even with 9hrs of sleep

My personal best (if i could call it that LOL) was just shy of 5 days, which took place years ago during one of my excursions to the city (Toronto). One gathering turned into one big party, which joined another bash, etc!
It seemed to go on forever!
No energy drinks were used at all!
After going for that long without sleep, the brian plays many cruel jokes on you!
Reality starts to get fuzzy, everything becomes funny, and fire hydrants become great conversation partners!

I'm one of those people, that needs a lot of sleep to function well, and I'm lucky I made it that far. a case of full throttle and and two days of lan can do that.
I'm in the Military as well, I've just been lucky, I've never had to pull some that stuff you other guys have to do!

awesome, just awesome. I could last longer in NYC if I really wanted too. I'm sure I could find a free internet cafe to play WoW in for at least a week, lol

72 hours. Left all my end of term essays to the last minute as usual. I had a cup of coffee every 45 minutes, I only stopped working to eat and go to the toilet.
I got my essays in with about 2 minutes to spare, then went straigt to the dentist for the first time in three years, I found out I had to have 4 fillings and a wisdom tooth out. When I stood up I fell on the floor.
