I presume the work so far on the sword arm is just base scaffolding? It's just at the moment, it sort of looks like he's badly broken and dislocated his wrist (to me at least).

Looking good! I think the wizard mask works really well, judging from the examples you showed. Maybe it's a tad on he angry side... but hey, the guy's got a chip on his shoulder, right?

Your older figure looks cool.

I wouldn't even go so far as to call it scaffolding! It's really just there to add some rigidity to a pretty frail piece of plastic so don't worry, it will get proper attention when it comes time to do the arms, I promise!

Loving the progress, Dante.

But I'm definitely not feeling those heads from the Huntsman. Shame too, because they are pretty nice. They just don't strike me as Huntsman-y.

Fair enough, personally, they look pretty huntsman-y to me, especially the fur hats.

Not a huge amount of visible progress on this chap in the last few days, mainly work to clean areas up and add small folds etc:

I've also started working on the base structure for the second arm, as well as beginning to bulk out the sword arm a bit more. Still much work to be done on both, but it's beginning to take shape.

I've also got the head I've sculpted (pictured) ready for casting now so hope to send it off shortly.

At the moment, work on the torso and legs is almost done for now until I begin adding details to the belt etc. These will come once the head and arms are ready though.

Cheers,

Dante

So, here's a bit of a spoiler question in regards to your Twitter...

What're you planning on airbrushing?

Probably aim to really test it on the Valkyrie kit my girlfriend got me as part of my Christmas gift. The large surfaces and fact it's a vehicle naturally lend it to being airbrushed. It should also give me the opportunity to test some different effects and techniques.

I also plan to use it for applying basecoats and pre-highlighting and shading to figures too.

So basically, plenty to use it on!

I'd say get a cheap lil' modern armor kit and go from there. Try and do it up exactly like the Osprey book.

I'm planning on doing up the Australian tank sometime soon.

I have to admit I disagree with Lasgunpacker if a part does exactly what you want it to do why not use it? I have to admit you've almost caused a miracle convinced me that maybe the Huntsman box is worth looking at. I've always considered it ludicrously overpriced when compared with the Empire Militia which are some of my favourite ever Perry models......

He's looking very, very cool so far. I'm envious of your sculpting abilities. I can't wait to the addition of armour and cape.

Do you have any ideas for any other duelists?

Thanks guys.

@Acaddon - I have a few ideas, one with at least one pistol for example, however in order to make sure it doesn't end up over the top, the majority will have swords and daggers.

Lithe.

I love how you know the flow of cloth so well, and how you put it so effectively into sculpting. It looks fantastically natural.

Looking forward to seeing what's up your other sleeve

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Progress....minor, but progress all the same!

Have been working on the shoulder of the jacket and on the sleeves a bit more. Still A LOT to do on them and the shoulders though.

More soon!

Thanks guys!

I've been doing more work today to refine some things like the ruffles and also working on a vambrace for the sword arm as well as the sleeves on both arms.

Pics to follow tomorrow.

Looking at it, I think I'm going to have to attach the left arm at some point before being able to sculpt the cloak, which generally goes against my desire to maintain ease of access to the whole figure for painting so we'll have to wait and see how that turns out.

More soon.

Finally! It's here!

After being delivered twice to the wrong address (two floors below me) without my knowing, a neighbour finally brought it round this evening!

Can't wait to get started!

Also, some nice swag arrived:

The SGT figure really is a lovely sculpt, except for the face. The eyes are a bit too widely set for my liking.

More on Vespero soon.

Looking at those axes made me think of the bit in 1632 when Tom Simpsons asked his choice of weapon in a duel "20lb sledge hammers"! Can't wait to see what you get up to with them!

Looking fantastic as always Dante. It may be just me but the tunic/chest plate doesnt seem to extend far down enough and looks slightly too short in comparison with the very long legs of the model. Perhaps it should be extended slightly lower down the torso. Otherwise, as always absolutely perfect in every regard.

Oh I like the little wavy dagger is it mean't to be a throwing dagger?
