That thing I said about extremists in each camp causing trouble for everyone else was actually paraphrased from the Dean of somewhere - Winchester I think - on a lovely Radio 4 discussion over Christmas. A seriously lovely, reasoned and intelligent man.
I also once met a bishop - somewhere near Leeds, so he might have been the Bishop of Leeds if there is one but who knows? - who knew a huge amount about Biology as well. He took one year in 3 away from his duties at the church to bone up on the latest developments in science, really knew his stuff and even more importantly, how to get it across in a friendly, sociable manner.
An example to us all!

Good news, Albatross. I can think of a hundred things to say about those abortions that lived who were going to march, but instead, I'd rather say I have a lot of gratitude for Britain's part in rooting out the terrorists in Iraq and Afganastan.

Reading through this whole thread (no easy task due to the ebb and flow of topics) I honestly get where Albatross is coming from.
Usually I will be one of the first queing up to defend freedom of speech (even the free speech of people I despise and political/racial views I detest),however, having a Father who servered in Vietnam,a Grandfather and two great uncles who served in World War II,I can see where this protest/march would have been symbolicly spitting in the faces of the individules living in Wooten Basset and indeed the families of those who served in the UK armed forces.

Exactly. There's protest, and there's just insulting a small town community which always lines the streets to pay their respects to and welcome home our fallen soldiers. Like I said, protest outside Downing St., The House Of Commons or Trafalgar Square - no problems with that at all. I may not support them, but they have the right to protest our involvement in The War On Terror (henceforth to be known as 'TWoT' ).
As for outlawing them, If they're found that to be linked with terrorist activity - shut 'em down. That's why Al-Mujihroun was closed down and Bakri told (quite rightly) to 'Jog on'. It seems that Islam4UK has links to the aforementioned group, so... bye guys! British Al-Qaida fighters corpses have been found in both Iraq and Afghanistan ( IIRC) - someone must be radicalising them.

I shot my dad's Walther last week while vacationing in Washington. I didnt like it at all, low and to the left, but I told him and he said I was yanking the trigger. His SigSauer 226 was really awesome though, along with the Colt Navy and Remington Army. It was so cold at the range, the bullets from the remington cartridges wouldn't stick into the target backstop, they just bounced out.

Did it shoot straight for him? If it did than it could be you were snapping the trigger, though that's odd as the only time you really need to worry bout squeezing and not "snapping" a trigger is on a rifle trying to shoot a long range shot. Not sure how you NOT snap a trigger. I've shot Walther's and they shoot no differently for me than a S&W or a Colt.

dogma wrote:Fateweaver wrote:Tax dollars do NOT contribute to unemployment.

Did you miss the part that says "Employers pay an extra tax"? Employers =/= average joe citizen.
It's okay Dogma. I caught your dig about me eating Ramen. I don't know what you do for a living but I bet you come from some nice middle class family who had parents that paid for his way through college so he could one day hang out on Dakka and take stabs at people that didn't see the world through rose-colored glasses.
I'll enjoy my Ramen noodles knowing that in 2012 people like you, a liberal, will be the minority and the man that you and Shuma look to as some sort of god will be just a bad memory in the history of this country.
You just go on enjoy your nice cushy job (I assume you work) and hope some day you aren't forced into Unemployment. If that day ever comes Dogma I will laugh and point my finger and rub it in your face how your "god" failed at his job.
So even if tax dollars go to unemployment it makes you no better than me that you have a job (which I assume you do) and I don't. I earned my unemployment. The people that think like you think don't see anything wrong with someone just getting something handed to them for nothing but thanks for comparing people laid off their jobs to those who are just too lazy to work. I bet you'll make lots of friends in life thinking that way. I can at least wake up in the morning and smile knowing I'm not some brainwashed, fethed up in the head, liberal that thinks Obamanation is the greatest thing to happen to this country. Take off the rose colored glasses Dogma. Our country has become the red-headed stepchild of the world that everyone slaps around because our current President is more worried about pissing off Muslims and the Chinese and kissing their asses than he is about going into places like Mexico and kicking ass and taking names.
You know what though Dawg....... MA? I can also smile knowing that in 2012 his reign will be over and that it will be a conservative President (or an Independent) getting sworn in as the next President of this great nation and maybe then this country will earn the respect and power it had at the end of WW2. Britain hasn't gone to the dogs yet but this country has. I give the British posters like Alba and MDG a hard time about being British but I have to admit their government, their political leaders have a hell of a lot more balls than our government does. I have more respect for the Queen than I have for Obama. Being liberal is being anti-American (yes I went there).
Yeah this is a rant and yeah I don't care and don't apologize. Being compared to someone to lazy to work was the final straw in the Dogma/Fateweaver saga. I'm sure maybe you are a great guy in real life Dogma but you sure as hell haven't proved it to me. If this post pisses you off go ahead and ring the bell that calls the mods in here. If it gets me banned so be it.
I can't post in any thread without being attacked. Sometimes I let my emotions get to me when I post, sometimes I don't know all the facts but there are posters on here that would argue with me if I said the sun was yellow and the sky was blue and the grass was green. I could say that blood is red and certain posters would argue with me JUST to argue with me.
So yes Dogma, I did collect UI for almost a year. Yes I can't find a job. No I don't eat Ramen; I'd eat grass from my lawn before I ate that gak. Maybe it makes you better than me. I'll get banned again before you do but that was a personal attack. Thinly veiled but it was. I have thick skin but if I'm going to be taking a one month vacation from here (I'm sure Frazz or KK will give me one and I don't care) I'm not going out without letting the mods know of your eloquent post.
Good day ladies/gentleman.
