Wow, so uncalled for.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

While the area is some what pleasant , the house 's back drive lane is near an elementary school. Because of this at night there are some druggies that go there to cause problem.

Im sure the people that tried breaking in the 2nd time ( around 20 hours later ) are the same people. They kicked a hole through the garage door , but i dont think the hole was big enough to craw in , something must have happend and scared them off the first time. So they came back again to finish what they were trying to do.

Why not? Are you mentally defective or secretly a hardened felon, that you can't get a rifle?

Second the point-call the police EVERY time you see the druggies. That will run them off.

Notice the Canadian Flag icon? no, you probably didn't, it's hard being a hard man and paying mind to the details.

The simple fact of being Canadian would put a damper on one gun owning possibilities, but I'm sure you knew that. I'm also pretty sure that even if Luna was in the US, there is an age issue that might prevent her from buying a gun.

You can buy a gun anywhere, anytime.

Actually yea I saw the flag. Those of us who don't live in basements have light sources other than the flickering computer and tend to notice those things.
As I know about a dozen Canadians, some of whom shoot, you can in fact get firearms-long guns. Takes effort, but so does breathing.

Lord of the Ghosts, Luna achually has a reason to be scared. All this "OMGZ LIEK I HAVE ITZ W0RSEZ 0ff Th3n Y0u, S0 b3 Qu1T3!!!1!!!!" Is just silly. She has nothing to fear because her friends house has been broken into, just because you have it 'worse off'?

Grow up.

I got a 3 day ban once. Didn't miss it all that much. Just gave me something to do catching up on all the threads I missed posting on. LOL.

I don't live in the ghetto or the hood but there are enough nefarious peoples around me that I fear for the safety and sanctity of my iPod. Any methhead comes into my house to steal my iPod or 360 is going to suffer sever lead poisoning. My life I'm not worried about. Just don't jack my iPod and we'll get along fine.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

They actually do sell what look to be a couple pretty decent alarms at Radio Shack.

But you are worried about theft your best protection is insurance. That does not save your painted armies of course.

For extra security I would recommend a taser, and one of these:

also a crowbar...just in case.

The best way to secure your house is to stand outside it 24 hours a day dressed as a policeman. I find it deters burglars excellently.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Matty,

Feel free to stand outside of my house at night. It's been anywhere from -20 to -30F here at night so go ahead and knock yourself out. I'd even be so kind as to bring you a bowl of hot soup once every 4 hours.

Just don't expect to be able to go in and out as you please. Even with you outside my house I'm still locking my windows and doors.

@ Luna first let me say I'm sorry for your loss. I have not paid much attention after your first post due to the jokers because I undrstand what you & your friend must be going through. I am NO expert, but I have delt with law enforcement a bit from my military experience & have lots of long time freinds & family in law enforcement, so I'll tell you what I know. First; do you have deadbolt locks on your doors? If you have a deadbolt on a door w/a window get a deadbolt that uses a key on both sides. That way they can't just break the window & open the door. Seeing a double keyed deadbolt on doors will deter most inexperienced thugs. Second; I'm not a big fan of those security monitoring alarms there are a few w/lawsuits against one them for not doing what they are suppose to from what I've been told.(I don't remember which one) If you do get a cheaper alarm you can find some on the market that make loud barking sounds like a dog. Why, because a few years ago I read that most alarms sound like car alarms & in most populated areas lets face it no pays attention to car alarms anymore. Thats also especially good if you rent & cant have pets. Belive it or not I went to school with someone who had thier house broken into & his dog attacked the bad guy & tore him up good. He was sued for lots of $$$ & had to put his dog to "sleep". Also something else for everyone to think about, I'm a big fan of the 2nd emendment in my country, but if someone breaks into your house it's usually during buisness hours while most people are @ work & that means that if you own a gun, now it's most likely stolen & now you have ALOT more paperwork to do in the police report & probably have ALOT more explaining to do. I hope @ least something from my rambling helped

If i do end up with a dog some day , and it bit the bad guy and i get sued. Would having a "warning guard dog" sign around my house help?

A "beware of dog" sign would be a good idea if you had a dog. That could also possibly be a cheap semi-deterrent as well. I would at least grab some security alarm stickers and paste them on your doors/ select windows.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

You can also ask someone who has a security system. My parents got a dozen when they had theirs installed and the company said to just call if they ever wanted more.
