That would fit in with "smart business decisions" (read the quotes as a sarcasm wrap), to cut the sprues needed down to reduce production costs in the long term, while raising the price approx 10 bucks to pay for the short term cost of new molds.

Personally though, I'm still hoping for a Medusa to save myself having to carve up Basilisk guns to make them, or buying the expensive FW kits.

Building a Storm Lord leaves you with a nice little gun suitable for a Medusa. You should be able to order the bitz from most bitz places.

But I agree, not including mutiple guns is just silly of GW. But par for the course.

If they told me on March 15th they were releasing kits for missing artillery / tank options for the guard then I'd start setting my money aside now. I want like 6 hydras just for fun, and its going to cost me.

But its all secret and mysterious, maybe ill just buy a computer game or three in the meantime, and have no money when this stuff releases, seems like lost opportunity on their part.

I dont know, but maybe im missing something.

That's not how they think about it. They just assume that you'll buy the computer game(s) and the new models when they come out.

The GW Advance Order Warhammer 40K page is now empty because the latest Legion of the Damned models were released yesterday. That means the Battle Missions book and related new model releases for March will be going up on that page shortly, perhaps as early as this week. I plan on checking it every day this week as I'm quite interested to see exactly what all the new 40K items for March actually look like.

Hey, because there is nothing more fun than throwing more fuel on the speculation fire, on the US GW site, the Chimera and the Killa Kans are missing. Is this true for other people?

I am guessing this will all be a moot point in a day or two.

A recut Chimera and Plastic Killa Kans are confirmed for March. It's also almost positive that we're getting a venerable dread, a deff dread, and a basilisk in addition to the Chimera and the Kans.

The interesting questions now are what extras will the kits contain? reds8n has pretty much confirmed that the ven dread doesn't help SM players get all their weapon options in plastic, for instance.

Will the Chimera have options for the codex weapon mounts?
Will the Basilisk kit make any other artillery options?
Will the Killa Kans be vaguely straightforward to construct?
Will the Deff Dread be able to hear anything?

All these questions, and more, may be answered when the Advance Order page gets updated.....

The Chimera box set contains one multi-part plastic Imperial Guard Chimera. This 95-piece set comes with a range of assembly options allowing you to customise your miniature, including: a turret-mounted multi-laser, a turret-mounted heavy flamer, a turret-mounted heavy bolter, a hull-mounted heavy flamer, a hull-mounted heavy bolter, a hunter-killer missile and two different tank commanders

Which is an impressive feat in its own right. I've not seen a single Basilisk since the new IG Codex came out last spring. Not even in Apocalypse. Nobody wants them. If GW had simply taken the kit off sale, a lot of people wouldn't've given a toss.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

It's mostly that Basilisks really aren't useful. Demolishers and other Russ variants are more survivable (and lack little in the way of firepower) and the other artillery options are better at killing infantry and vehicles. Really, the only advantage that basilisks have are that they can fire indirectly, but a 36" minimum range helps to solidly undermine that.

Basilisks can still fire directly and there's no minimum range for direct fire. However, they are easily killed by fast moving armies even when you hide them near the back of your deployment. A Russ is a better all-around value, more survivable and generally does the same or more damage, especially with the newest Codex, but in a high point game the indirect fire option on the Basilisk can still make them fun and nasty.

From Warseer, shouts out to Mr. Usagi3 for this info

Okay guys, got the Battle Missions book in my hand ! It was the French version, please forgive my bad English.

30 missions, 3 for each faction (IG, SM, CSM, Daemons, Tyranids, Eldars, Dark Eldars, Necrons, Orks, Tau). No Inquisition, no specific SM chapters.

You choose your battle missions by :
- throwing 1d6. The winner get to use one random mission from the 3 of his faction ;
- randomly (using 1d66)
- super randomly. Throw 1d6 on a table, giving you 3 choices (standard rulebook, first method, random method).

The missions are very different, using lots of deployments variants and one or two specific (simple) rules. Each faction gets 8 pages : 2 of fluff, and 2 for each mission.

In the end, there are 3 special missions :
- Commandos : 200pts, special FOC (0-1 Elite, 0-1 Fast Attack, 0-2 Troops) ;
- 3 Baneblades against whoever feels suicidary enough ;
- QG duel, without using named characters.

all of which sounds about right to me, little awkward about the I not getting any missions... remind me are they the ones with missions in the back already anyway yes ?

C: WH has a mission in the back, (Something like "Defend the Shrine") but I'm not sure how compatible it is with the current edition. It's a generic enough mission I could see a lot of forces being the defenders in it.

I'd be interested to hear how many of these missions have weird stuff like (for example) a mission centering around a CHaos artifact that occasionally does weird chaosy stuff or something, as opposed to just different starting layouts and combinations of the basic mission rules.
