When does GW typically advertise for preorders? A couple weeks before release? Sooner?

There's four more legion of the damned guys due for release on the 6th so I expect battle missions stuff will go up after those are out.

Heres hoping for a hydra / manticore variant of a chimera and a medusa variant of a basilisk, I would dance with glee.

Not holding my breath though =\

Um, he's kidding.

I think.

That was the 'official' GW line back when they were trying to convince everyone that:

1) Online Forums are BAD and full of nonsense. (Er, well, they're half right!)

2) NO, the mystery box is NOT Space Hulk. (OK, it is Space Hulk!)

So rumors say the new chimera won't include tank upgrade sprue, if that's the case making chimeras with dozerblades will be far less cost effective point/money-wise seeing games workshop sells it 18$...

Unfortunately, that phrase has been overused so much it's just tedious now.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Not yet, I reckon they might be pushed back until we see a/any Inquisitor codex perhaps ? Those greens we saw a while back were armed with shotguns, if memory serves, which isn't an option for them in the current guard codex is it ?

Deff dredd is nice enough, personally I think the venerable dredd is a bit of a missed opportunity, but it at least looks better than the metal venerable model. IMO of course. Generally though more plastic is good.

I have heard that the new orky bits -- from the dredd at least -- is,again, compatible with the other current wave of orky vehicles.

One thing I am wondering which might go at least some way to justify any £/$ change with the Basilisk is whetehr it might come with a closed crew compartment option ? It would be handy and,AFAIK, there's no way of doing it "officially" other than FW at the moment.... right ? IT's been a good few years since I bought a Basilisk kit.

I guess im not that business savvy, but I dont understand why they keep this stuff a secret.

If they told me on March 15th they were releasing kits for missing artillery / tank options for the guard then I'd start setting my money aside now. I want like 6 hydras just for fun, and its going to cost me.

But its all secret and mysterious, maybe ill just buy a computer game or three in the meantime, and have no money when this stuff releases, seems like lost opportunity on their part.

I dont know, but maybe im missing something.

I would expect that the new Basilisk kit has at least one if not two other artillery variants in the box given the $49.50 US price point.

I would also expect that a few days after the current "Warhammer 40,000" Advance Order items that are currently on the web store are released on Feb. 6 the next 40K items will go up for Advance Order, including Battle Missions and all the 40K model releases for March. I'd keep watching the 40K Advance Order page very closely just after Feb. 6.

Keeping it all secret makes perfect sense if the new kit is nothing special. They won't tease us about screenshots of variants or whispers awesome new features, because the new Basilisk doesn't have any. In fact, it seems we've already seen it, since at least one Battle Missions preview had a picture of a Basilisk with Hellhound-style side plates. That's all, folks.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Hm. What. Huh? Hrm. I should check with my sources to see if they've heard anything about Hydra/Manticore boxes or something else along those lines.

No, not buying that. Games Workshop have come out and confirmed new Basilisk and Chimera kits, which seem to map out with the two new IG product codes.

If they have a plastic Deathstrike...

So help me God, I will make a Deathstrike Battery. I've got 8(!) Sabre Defense Platforms that I'm cleaning right now that I got when Anphelion first came out. I have the rules for them too.

Screw having a "mobile" army. We're defending the bomb!

Because IG need Deathstrike kits more than they need, oh, let's see:

- Hydras
- Manticores
- Medusas
- Colossus
- Griffons

Right? Not to mention new plastic stormtroopers or PBS squads.

Hey. Psyker Battle Squads are easy. Flagellants and Plague Monks/Zombies.

Hydras and the rest already exist. Forge World makes them.

The kits aren't high on the priority list for that reason alone, I'd say.

FW makes Valks and yet we now have one of the most sought after IG models in plastic, right? You're right about PBSes - those can be scratchbuilt from anything. But GW's never let that stop them from making superfluous kits before. (Ugly plastic Daemonettes, I'm looking at you.)

Daemonettes are a completely different story. GW was starting to move from "elite" armies that had metal Troops choices(Grey Knights, Sisters, etc) to making sure EVERY army had some form of plastic Troops choice available.

And Valkyries I still don't get, other than maybe an attempt to get rid of the static gunline armies of the past.

That doesn't change the fact that plastic medusas would sell like hotcakes covered in crack...
