Great news Rackhams getting a re-release http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/6194-confrontation-announcement. This is a huge boost for my interest in painting and modelling although I might have a problem that all my old models are nw on round bases for the game. Frankly if people restart playing locally I'll worry about it.....and it means I can get a few mdels I need to flesh out the force as well.

Skalk in his excellent 40k Cultists blog (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/364272.page) put up a 40k scale Chrono-Gladiator recently. This sparked within me the desire to make one of my own and after a quick rummage through the bitz box and I'd located a pair of Ork Power Claws and a Dirz Cypher Lurkhan model. A bit of glue later and I had this model ready William Walker the Terrible Claw. One of the simplest conversions I've done in ages and probably about the most effective!

Comedy gold! Love him. I've started recycling various Griffon figs into my =][= retinue, so cheers for the inspiration!

Cheers Neil delighted that you like him. I did a rather lazy job updating an old job on a Fianna (Rackham Kelt Model). The Ink acted funny when you look at it close up but at about a foot it looks fine.

Cordelia and her sisters are members of a little known Imperial Sect on the world of Knocknarea IV. The Sword Brides of Knocknarea are nted for their deft handling of the great blades. They are notoriously skilled body guards and work as mercenaries around the quadrant. Most peple don't know of the group and it often leads them to underestimate them as guards. Mistaking them as a courtesan is the last mistake of many an assassin. They are popular due to their loyalty to the protectee and decorative nature. Cordelia is the most skilled of her sisters I have met and I have seen her preparations thwart two assassination attepts. Not through her blade however but through her knowledge of the lost arts of Electronic Surveillance. In fact Gabrielle's main use of Cordelia is to provide this surveillance during investigations.

Happy enough with this guy. I like the Urban Camo cloak inspired by all those versions of German camo I've seen on Dakka and adapted to this guy to give him that 40k ancient and modern juxtaposition.

Jacques the Knife history before he joined the Administratum's Black Scribes is brutal. A youth in the Stacks of the Hive of Artoyer he was hired as a mercenary by Administrator Heron. While Heron died on this missionhis forces managed to retrieve the files from the bowels of the stacks fighting of the various indigent gangs. The vital information an "Anaytic Consideration of the Ceramic resources of Beaka IX with Special Consideration of Decorative Finishes and Analysis of the Local Beliefs and other Contributing Factors" turned out to be utterly useless as sadly the required cultural analysis was for Beka IX. Jacques skills hwever were noted and he eventually gained the attention of the Logistar Primaris. He is noted for his skill with poisons and generally prefers to avoid combat considering it a failure if he is spotted.

I reckon I should start considering what I need to add to make the army fieldable. The problem is I don't particularly want to use Grey Knights as we have 2 players in my society which means we've got far too many locally anyway (and we've already wiped out the entirety of the Purifiers in the Galaxy). Therefore I've been considering how to get around this. I've already decided to have a Chapter Conclave of Terminators representing aout a dozen chapters. These mighty champions would be represented by Paladins and modelled using a mix of kits (and preferably if I can get my grubby mits on them the Space Hulk Terminators). A basic strike squad can be represented by Deathwatch fairly simply. The idea I'm most ecited about however is the Interceptor Squad. I really fancy the idea of using the Legion of the Damned. It fit's the theme and it's a hugely narrative unit. I've always liked the fluff for these heroes of the Imperium and it's a great excuse to own some awesome models. How does this reasoning sound to people?

Been reviewing what comes to mind about each entry in the Grey Knight's Codex and Brainstorming ideas. These are utterly random and have very little relevance to what I'll do. Just thought they might amuse people here's the batch for HQ. If you've got anymore to suggest for these or feel the need to discuss any of them please do.

I haven't actually read any of Iain Banks stuff.....Is it any good? It's the kind of thing thats far more fun to write than read, but if I put it here I've got it somewhere I can't loose it. I also feel it might give other people some ideas. I find it useful to make these scribbly sheets with creative projects. I'll bung some more up here soon! I've alos done this for various Imperial Factions and I'll probably do it for the Dark Heresy/Inquisitor Character Archetypes as well.

It is the greatest priviledge of the Lords of the Conclave to have access to the best the Imperium can offer. My masters and others can call upon regiments of Imperial Guard, the resources of Temple, Shrine and Adeptus. They can even call upon the very paladins of the Adeptus Astartes themselves. But some would argue that their greatest political weapon are the Six members of the Daggers of the Conclave these six represent the Temples of the Assassins. The difference in skill between one of these agents and those of our homegrown cults is like the difference between an Astartes and a Guardsmen. Both have valour and bravery but one is far and away more lethal. Agent Tell is the Vindicare representative. He is actually the most human of the six and I have spoke to him on several occasions. He is a grim, fell man with a morose snse of human and cold calculating eyes.

Simply did it. I had to fix the gun with a bit of plastruct as it had been broken before I got the model from Ebay. The Bone is going to be my way of unifying the six. I kept the scheme simple and traditional - and yes I gave him silver bullets for Werewolves!

Scrivenor Archibald is one of Logistar Cuthberts chief aides he is noted for his prodigious numeracy and skill at the algebraic arts. When he and his fellows are attacked he carries a venerable old gatling autogun with a great weight of fire. Sadly enough he is a notoriously bad shot and the safest place to be when he opens fire is right in front of him. Personally I hope the Logistar confiscates that cannon from him. Or better yet encourages him to exchange it for a more accurate less deadly gun.

This guy is one of the Lead Adventurer Stea Punk sculpts. I saw them and knew they were perfect for the Black Scribes. I kept him less ornate than his fellows as befits his lower status. In game terms he counts as a Warrior Henchman with a Storm Bolter as I feel it represents the gn he's holding best.

Sorry my camera has suddenly started to refuse to speak to my computer. I've replaced the cord but don't know whats causing the problem. Do's anybody know of a good place to get advice on an old Fuji Finepix A204? This means the blog is probably on hiaitus until I can get the problem fixed at least October and more likely Christmas unless somebody knows where I can find out how to fix the problem.

Well I've got two new fellers for you today;
William Walker the Terrible Claw is one of Aeneas Maximus's Gladiatorial performers. He was apparently a Guard officer who fell afoul of a pimp when drunk and ended up abducted and transformed into the fighting abomination you see before you. Aeneas Maximus is an old friend of my masters and him and his gladiatorial retinue can get heavily armed and highly equipped fighters within the houses of the powerful. The Terrible Claw is most noted for his performance at the banquet of the Governor of Arkensas III who was rumoured to be consorting with the diabolical Tau. During the performance he and his commpatriot suddenly turned on the baying onlookers and he himself ripped the foul individual in twain showering his prestigious guests with the offal. Arkensas III is now noted to regularly exceed its tithes.

Simple model simple scheme. Hopefully it shows enough of the Luchadore inspiration I had while painting him. I also think Aeneas Maximus and his gladiators will have to be produced.....The idea appeals to me far too much and I feel they would be great for Skirmish games and roleplay use. There are also some beautiful Sci-Fi gladiator models out there as well.
Elijah is one of the cultists of the Redeeming Fire Order these warrior monks are a regular source of mercenaries for the regimes around Felixis IV. They are noted for their determination and predilection for fiery weapons. They are apparently related to the Redemptionist brotherhoods of Necromunda. I doubt they would have attracted the interests of so many of the Conclave if it were not for their access to so many ferocious weapons. Most of the cultists carry carry rare and specialist weapons which make them highly sought after for mercenaries.

He's a simple Cawdor Juve converte to carry a Flamer. To ake a henchman list work I need far more of these and I feel claiming they're mercenaries allow them to work with any of the bands. Hope you like them!

"Q is a useful asset. He is an observer skull trained to scout and observe enemy positions without being noticed. He can then be used as a beacon for unlucky unfortunates to be teleported in. It's a hideous experience teleportation and one I recommend to avoid. Originally Q was apparently a great servant of the Omnissiah until an unfortunate incident involving an exploding chronograph, a gaunt suit and a floor buffer resulted in his untimely demise."

I want to make a few more of these. He was originally to be used as a regular repair servitor to go with my tech priest but as the Grey Knight book needs a fair few he'll probably be used as one for an Inquisitor.

"Jefferson the Subduer was another of the Enforcers the Master recruited on Wyomas Minoris. He is noted for his skill at capturing the foe. He is one of the few men accreditted with the live capture of a Genestealer Hybrid on Cobris Minor. His ability to capture live prey is very much valued by my Master but even more so by Inquisitor Cain who often requests his assistance.


He's another of the Black Scorpion Cowboys. He got a Wargames Factory German shield techied up a bit to make it a suppression shield and a Rackham Griffin Mace as a power maul.

Just a quick note to tell people I'm back after 3 months without the internet while working I've got a good bit of painting done for these guys however.

I've been quickly basing some of the models I did in Scotland up. I've also grabbed a photograph of the shale site I was using on as an ash waste background. What do people think about it?

GLEN-143 Is a useful asset to any of the forces despatched by the conclave. A Hydalberg HB-290 series Servitor the type is known for its accuracy and heavy firepower. It has however got rather large problems with Ammunition storage. GLEN-143 was requisitioned by the master after its notable performance during the defense of a pumping station in the recent unpleasantness with a splinter fleet. It was accredited with several large beast kills including that of a Harpy during the fighting.

Simply did it. This is just a Dirz Clone with a Servitor heavy Bolter I got in a large bits batch on ebay. The painting is traditional A-M Scab Red with a Camo Green wash effect on the skin.

Horatio Hawkins wouldn't have survived long if it wasn't for the guile, determination and above all loyalty of this man First Mate Jean d'Lame Argent. His chief retainer and the chief mate of the Ultramar Queen. He has been a feudal retainer of the family for many years and is noted for his dour sardonic humour, skill and courage. He would far rather be in the stars than on dock and is obviously severely frightened of weather. His agoraphobia is also intense. The man shows less fear facing an Ork in cobat inside than he shows on a walk in the gardens of the Conclave. His cutlass is the ceremonial weapon of his clan and the delicate powered blade is wielded with a speed that is surprising for such a stout man.

This man is the Black Scorpion Governor given a power blade with the simple addition of some wire and plastic rod. I'm happy with the colour choice the bright green wig seemed very 40k although I'm glad the inking dulled it down!

"Adept Maxwell is of the Ancient and Sacred Order of the Silver Spanner. These dedicated and elite servants of the Machine God are dedicated to the remonstrance of recalcitrant machine spirits in the most subtle and dignified fashion. The traditional rites of this the absolution of percussive maintenance are held to be particularly useful when machines may be corrupted. This makes those of his order highly prized when the Imperium faces those of Chaos. They are also noted for their dedication to the maintenance of the more banal and practical aspects of the Omnissiah. They are however poorly regarded by many other factions within the Mechanicus their focus on getting a machine to work properly is seen as countering the spirits will. The idea of punishing a recalcitrant machine spirit also offends many factions. Their practicality is especially prized by the Rogue Traders and Adept Maxwell is a much valued member of the lighter maintenance crew aboard the Ultramar Queen. His presence on the bay deck is slightly vexing to him as it means he has often been called up to provide aid in spiritual matters when young Horatio decides to head off ship.

Apologies for the photograph. The colours are scab red with a large obvious silver sanner. The model is from Lead Adventurers Steam Punk range. I like this less sinister look for a Tech Priest myself. What do other people think?

Hubert Freidrak is another member of the Dawn Templars their courage and skill as well as the dedication to the cause make them popular recruits to the Imperial cause. They are foten found in the retinues of Inquisitors or serving as bodyguards to members of the Ecclesiarchy. Several have also served high houses or rogue traders when the temple has decreed their cause righteous. Hubert Friedrak has been in the service of my master for most of the past decade. He is in many ways my masters most trusted acolyte. He is ruthless and amoral but not immoral. I have seen him selflessly take on a combat servitor in the defence of a mother and his child. Many in the service of my master would have left them to their fate. His greatest hour came with his killing of Simeon a rogue Astartes who had fallen prey to the ruinous powers and had led a small feral tribe to worship him and his deity. It was one of the greatest fights it has been my priviledge to witness. Speed and precision where matched against strength and brutality. I still can not comprehend quite how he managed to deliver the lethal thrust through the neck joint of the armour.

Davan is a mercenary. A native of the hives of Hrin he is a young member of the Gyrison Trade House. The House was lucky it was punished for starting a bloody trade war in Landing Hive. This ended up killing over ten thousand people and worse imperilling a tithe payment. Both houses involved were forced to pay huge damages quadrupling their tithe commitment for the year. As well as that 85% of bth houses were tithed into the Imperial Guard and despatched to the Ladysmith War Zone. Davan and several of his fellows came to the notice of my master after they were sentenced to death for shooting a Commissar. While the Commissar was implanted with a Genestealer this was fealt not to mitigate the crime. My master however decided these men could be useful and requisitioned the group into the penal legion. Since then they have served my master and many of the other Conclave members as weapons specialists.

Chipped nose glares out, bugger. The model is a Van Saar Juve with a Ladysmith pattern Meltagun (see my 24th Islandlwanda blog for a tutorial) He's part of my desire to move the force into a Corteaz list. There is going to be several of these generic mercenary groups who can be assigned to any of the bands. The Dawn Templars are one, as are the Cult of Redeeming Fire and Sword Brides. I can also assign the Servitors about. I'm also wondering how little I can get away with too claim that the Griffin Fusiliers I own are Specialists as well....

Techpriest llewellyen is a dour grizzled ancient. Unlike many Adepts there are no visible signs of bionic augmentation. He is far more subtly augmented being an auto-savant. He is also particularly noted for his skill and flair in the control and maintenance of Servitors. He is arguably the closest man alive to Chirax von Grimme as well and may even hard to believe serve as his confidant. His laser Rifle is of a superior design and make and it is capable of horrific damage.

I've just finished up painting Buster & Tremaine the models which I started this project with last year. I've also got the pair of hounds which go with him. I'm happy with his scheme which makes him look futuristic enough for 40k without any conversion work. It's inspired by the classic Arbitrator scheme and definitely works well. Hope you like him.

Adept Snee is one of the most skilled of the Logistar Primaris followers. Quite how and why an administrator developed such a fascination with fire and explosives baffles me. He claims to have enjoyed playing with them from childhood and takes a positively gleeful delight in using them. The Logistar Primaris was gifted his services after these skills became apparent during an attack on the administratum offices in Hibranmouth on Secultis he gleefully began rigging things to explode with household items and cleaning equipment holding of the rioters for a quarter of an hour before the Arbitrators could arrive. He is also a crackshot with his Quad Stub Gun.

He's a Lead Adventurers Steam Punk model. I'm not quite sure what to do with him can Henchmen take Demo Charges or Melta Bombs?

Boris the Blade is a master of Stealth. He is the quiet expert who the Logistar Primaris uses when he needs to access forbidden records and hidden tomes. He has an unerring instinct for the truth and is one of the greatest spys in the Conclave if you need intelligence he can acquire it. Originally sentenced to Servitorhood for the burglary of a noble household on Hrin the Logitar decided to acquire his services and obtained him a pardon. For that he got a totally loyal utterly amoral servant.

I do love your demented imagination! Great conversions. Only thing I would say is that some of the paintwork looks at bit blobby; maybe try thinning your paints a little?
