Happy with the Cawdor the flamer and cleaver combine to produce a rather crazed look which I like. I'll work out some background another time.

Frater Jacobim is one of the Cultists of St Gandore the Wise. This cult is an infamous group of Psyker Priests who believe that Psychic Powers are gifts of the Emperor and their foul magicks to be used in his service. This cult has caused nasty faction fighting within the Conlave for many years now with many Puritans wishing to destroy this band while those of a more radical bent wish to make use of this powerful resource. Frater Jacobim is a notorious rabble rouser sworn to the service of Inquisitor Cortez. He uses his powerful ability to sway crowds into believing that the Emperors support is tangibly perceivably with him using flashy tricks and then leads the mob into supporting his masters will. He is selfless but ruthless willing to sacrifice those under sway for the good of the Imperium. His abilities are flashy with powerful fireballs at his command. I am told he has a lot of raw flash and power but very little educated delicate skill in its use. A brash loud man of the people he is a valuable tool for the Inquisitor.

It's the Redemptionist Ganger conversion I bunged up a while back still interested to see whether anyone can guess the spell effect. Incidentally I consider him a perfect PC character for Dark Heresy after all Psykers always want to have fireball don't they?

The Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Thaddeus Oak looks like a deranged mad man. This is due to an hideous incident while killing a Genestealer Patriarch when his Plasma Pistol overheated while manipulating a band of Blood Axes into cleansing a space hulk which he then directed straight at ZonohosIV a Tau colony under attack by an hive fleet. The Warlord handed the Inquisitor over to the Mad Dok who actually managed to save the Inquisitors life giving him a bionic jaw and his crude chain fist arm which he refuses to have replaced. This is mostly as Warlord Zogskull was most impressed by his endurance and toughness for a pinky accepting him as his closest advisor. The Inquisitor since then has manipulated him into using his Warband for the Imperiums good leading him in to attacking the Hive Fleet, other greenskins and rebel worlds. This marks the Inquisitor out as a notorious radical by the standards of the Conclave, He is the foremost expert among the Greenskins in the Conclave. While a good shot with his crude shotgun a "gift" from one of Zogskulls Nobz who challenged him into a pit fight (a concealed digital needler easily felled the beast) and also a prodigious expert in the use of his crude prosthetic, living in the company of the greenskin providing plentiful practise it is actually his precognitive powers which are his greatest tool in the service of the Emperor. These have been magnified hugely by his crude Ork implants and brain surgery.

[i]Frater Penryk is one of the Storm Cult of Haron VII a Water world in the Caryldon sub sector. These men venerate the destructive Booltyer Storms of Haron as a sign of the Imperator's wrath and seen him sending the storms as a judgement upon humanity. He decides who the winds and waves will slaughter and who will be spared some receive the bounty of the storm when it beaches the mighty pearlwhales or drives theminto their hunting grounds while others receive its wrath. He was recruited after annoying an Ecclesiarchy Deacon decrying his corruption while acting as a Chaplain to the 21st Caryldon Amphibious Brigade. He was arrested and while subsequent events proved the truth of his words and he was spared he was still compelled to serve the Conclave for disobedience to his superiors. He is a skilled Investigator but not the best combatant.

A skilled Armsman and bodyguard Sargent Cunningham has been serving as one of the Hawkins Fleet security detail for most of a decade. His face was hideously disfigured by an exploding console while hunting a murderous passenger. It was however his bravery in continuing the fight which allowed the scum to be brought to justice and attracted the notice of Jean Argent who regularly uses him as his personal enforcer and messenger throughout the fleet.


Taront is a Demolitions expert this skilled service with the 29th Betalgoose Irregulars during the Fryshem campaign attracted the attentions of the master who had need of a skilled professional for a covert mission. His skill and ruthless dedication has made him a most trusted service of the master ever since.

A grim man and a brave one Titus Bane is an orthodox Malleus Inquisitor with just one great quirk an absolute hatred f the ideology of Xanthism. He sees it as an absolute betrayal of the Imperium's ideals and a hideous cancer within the brain of the Imperium. This is as a direct result of using two of his fellow acolytes and his master to the corrupting whispers of the Chaos Gods.

Classic Space Marine Librarian possibly the Rogue Trader one. The smaller stature is perfect for human sized Power Armour.

Father Samson is a preacher from the depths of Hrin hive he came to Titus Banes attention while he was hunting a Wyrd. Very few priests have Samson's pure faith and honesty which aided him greatly in tracking and killing the Wyrd while Samson has remained in his parish he is now regularly called upon by Titus as a fighter.

Heretek Foryst was captured by Enforcers on Hrin for utilisation of proscribed technology under section d/445 of the Hrin code of laws. He procured maintained and produced Plasma weapons for several years in the Underhive. He also made many cybernetic modifications to himself and others. Gradually news of this was disovered by the Explorator Speculor. He was subdued and brought in front of the court where he was sentenced to termination. A decision was made to profit more by him and he was sold into the fighting pits. Foryst skills were valued by his new owners a slave skilled in cybernetic implants could maintain others and his owner made the decision to utilise him as a Pistolero in the beast fights fighting large beasts with guns and slaughtering fearsome opponents. He even received one of his beloved Plasma weapons back. The master naturally recruited him along with the rest of the pit fighters and his technical knowledge is especially prized by the master when there is the need to keep the Mechanicus unaware of his discoveries.

Plan for the year. Actually play a game. I'll probably use these as allies with the 24th but I've been lacking enthusiasm for 28mm models for a while and this army has always been a painting rather than playing project. Equally with the society having a room on Tuesday night people are looking at skirmish games which means I'll get to use these guys. I'd like to add a few more civilian and random models to the collection but I'm not planning on buying anything new.

Tannicus is a native of Hrin the ganger was recruited by Titus Bane after he brought in a dead Wyrd for the bounty since then he has been used a s a mercenary and hired gun. The skull dangling from his gun is that of his brother which he claims looks after him. The Wyrd flayed his brother with Wychfire and that was all that remained of him.

I think it's an Orlock torso on Catachan legs I quite like the skull trophy. He'll be useful random meat for skirmishes.

Managed to get in a few skirmish games in just using kill team rules it's been good fun but as my opponents mostly have Imperial forces something more chaotic might be in order so I'm wondering vaguely in the grim darkness of the future about putting together a few chaos cults. I've rather enjoyed this project but I'm running out of Imperial bands to do. I've also been drooling over the knights kits and while tempting I'm not quite that interested.

As you may know I have Ork, Beastman and Imperial Guard armies as well from some random parts in my bitz box I have been able to assemble this band of reprobates to start asa few random chaos followers. These Twists are planned to be part of a mercenary terrorist group known as Slagrar's Slaughterers. Basically they do precision attacks against vital infrastructure to cause civilisation to fragment into anarchy.

Currently we have two basic twists


A Twist with Flamer who I imagine is snidely referred to as Manfondler by his peers due to his fairly complete uniform. He's also considered perverse because of his preference for cooked meat.


A Sniper. I see these chappies as hunters and trackers rather than blood crazed maniacs. Blood Pact style.


Demo specialist seen happily legging it from his latest toy


The twists are mainly using Gorkamorka bodies and Ungor heads heavily inspired by Krautscientists work. The Demo Specialist is a Mantic ghoul with a Reaper robot arm and a GW zombie head.

Been continuing playing with these guys and they've been growing fast. I consider this group either figures for archetypes to be used at random as I feel like it or a professional group of twist mercenaries sneaking around the rim of the Imperium attacking them where there vulnerable to promote chaos.

For a start here's the leader the mighty Slagrar

Current Ork legs, old chaos warrior torso. Spawn head, Chaos Knight axe and shoulder pads and a Bolter. The idea was to create a big brutal leader figure. The Bolter is the ultimate status symbol for a 40k outlaw and his equipment is designed to be relatively fancy but still practical. I see him as a brutal but capable commander.

Next we've got a Shaman


Ripper Swarm head on a flagellant body with Plaguebearer arms. Yes Khorne frowns on psykers but I still wanted to mae one as it's a common archetype among Chaos forces

Heres a Heavy

Ork torso on Catachan legs with a Heavy stubber. I reckon these would make a fun Necromunda gang and a heavy Stubber is the archetypical Necromunda weapon so they had to have one.

This Pistolero is inspired by Schlock Mercenary and Rastar Prince of Sherdan

Middle distance plans are some Wargames Factory Armed Civilians and Zombies to provide some Grunts. Current thoughts are a guard army with Daemon allies. Oops. Chaos Army by accident I've done this before.

Nice to see the Rackham stuff too, always had a soft spot for some of their sculpts, and there's a few I'll be using in my chaos guys.

And interesting to see how long ago you picked up that Holmes figure, I recently picked up Watson and somehow got the impression they were fairly new sculpts.

About the Holmes Yeah it's sort of embarrassing actually I tend to try not to have models on ice for years on end. This thread hasn't seen that much activity recently and I've only just remembered to add Llamahead to the thread title

Nothing wrong with keeping minis hanging around for a while...they sometimes find a better home that way - that's what I tell myself anyway I was just commenting on the fact that the sculpts had been around for longer than I thought. And now, having seen the pieces you get for Holmes I'm thinking I should have gone for him rather than Watson...guess I'll have to pick up a Sherlock at some point

Definitely he's a brilliant figure. I'm planning to use him as a Vanus assassin. Yes they've been around a while I picked him up in 2012. Nice little company good service. The company I was working for at the time has since gone bust no loss there.

More Grunts coming out



Cadian bits and 2nd Ed Ork plastics mostly. The Shaman is a random D&D model with a head swap and weapon. I'm ruminating about turning this into a proper army. Guard or Orks with Daemon allies probably. Also considering what sprues would be most useful my tentative conclusion is that these would be of use although I'm not currently planning on actually buying any.

First of the Cultists. Simple basic job so he looks like a regular twist. He's painted to resemble my mates guard army who's gear he's nicked.

Good simple and effective paint job on the cultist

Cheers Monkeytroll it owes a lot to a mates guard scheme as presumably that's where it was nicked from.

Jimmy is the next guy Beastman head on a plastic Goliath body funny thing is I actually prefer the plastic Goliaths for 40k Beastmen

Really happy with the 2nd like the early Chaos Warriors just moving the head makes the base model (an ork wartrak gunner) far better.
