As much as Abbadon should have been overthrown by now, I expect he hasnt simply because there's no-one that could beat him. I can only imagine the primarchs doing such a thing but they're too busy lazying about on their own planets...

I think a significant increase in Dark Eldar raids on a certain area, and it would give them an excuse to update their code*BLAM!*

I would also quite like to see the Tyranids making some significant OM NOM NOM advances somewhere, only to get halted by the Necrons, whereby both sides can take some serious losses, the Nids lose for once, the Necrons get mopped up by someone else and the fluff leveled out a bit...

I quite like the idea of Farsight returning, could cause some interesting developments I think...

But a new campaign would be quite good, preferably that involves the Tyranids or Necrons losing for once...

Agreed the weight of the Tyranid fleet should be felt more. Planets/systems lost to the invading Tyranids with only areas held by Necrons being safe.

Or

One of the missing Primarchs is found on a planet where he has become the Luchador King of an entire system.

I really like the abbadon idea, why does everyone else only get 1 chance when he get's 13. The chaos gods aren't that patient.

The way I would like to see the game go is ( I know it's a long read butI wanted to include something for each race and to make sure it made sense) :

The 4 chaos gods should decide they have had enough, find a new champion, pump him full of warp energy and let him kill abbadon taking his place. This plot should obviously be tzeentch's idea. The new guy should actually be good at his job. Before the event the remaining primarchs recieve visions warning them of the gods intentions and telling them not to intervene. They believe that the chaos warlord is to lead them to victory, so prepare the legions to attack.

A new faction is rising in the Adeptus Mechanicus. They believe in the Omnissiah, however they also are the most foward thinking group. The groups rise in power conicides with an increase in visions on mars, this is seen as a sign. The groups influence spread at an amazing speed. many new facilities are secretly set up to investigate new and xeno technology.

The inquisition find out about the change in the admech and afraid of the longterm effects it may have they declare the group heretics, in the hope the rest of the admech will follow the inquisition. The Ad mech talks fail and the organisation fragments. Unexpectedly most of the machine priests choose to fight the inquisition, as they are angry that the inquisitors belive they can rule the adeptus mechanicus. The battle escalates quickly as the inquisition call on their SM allies. Soon the Whole imperium is being torn apart. Whole chapters of SM and regiments of the IG join either side. At first the inquisition have a strong lead until a band of radical inquisitors, who while taking part in negotiations in space above mars, mysteriusly change sides, destroying many inquitorial ships. On one side are those who beleive that the imperium is the will of the emporer on the the other are the people who believe that the God emporers dream has been warped and wish to bring back the emporers golden age.

On the outer fringes of the galaxy peaceful planets start to disappear from the map. When investigors arive there is no sign of any life. This continues for a few months until finally a group of machine priests who had set up a baricade around a cluster of planets manage to capture a group of necrons. The main force escaped, and the priests were suprised with the size and determination of the necron force. The attacks continue with few being succesfully prevented. Worryingly they appear to be closing in on earth and the nearby planets (it seems as if something is pulling them directly there).

Have forseen the rising of the necrons the eldar temporarly put aside their differences with the DE to fight their old enemies. The two forces are no longer officialy at war however ancient fueds still continue with each army refusing to fight directly along side the other.

Seeing their chance the Tau make a grab for new planets. The weakened imperium is unpreprepared and many planets surender without war. They soon realise the farsight colonies have the same idea and are pushing there version of the greater good.

The Ork lord Gzahgul makes a final attempt to destroy armageddon and is sucessful. The Final stronghold on the planet is destroyed buy the largest ork waaaagh seen in many thousands of years, however the warboss is killed in the final minutes of the battle. The Waaagh crumbles and millions of orks pour into the surrounding area.

In empty space far from any planets two large tyranid fleets collide. After a long period of infighting a stronger fleet emerges and uses its new gained material to head straight for the Segment solar.

Can someone outline what's happened in Descent of Angels and Fallen Angels?

Descent of Angels - nothing concerning the heresy or space marines really, just a librarian guy that sees that Luther is jealous of the Lion a bit really...

Fallen Angels - talks about Luther at Caliban, whilst Lion is out crusading somewhere and fighting a little against the traitors. Basically, Luther does some random stuff at home, actually defeating some Chaos IIRC whilst whining about Lion sending him home. Lion kills stuff, heads home, Luther kills stuff, whines at home. Basically it sets the stage for Lion's return and Luthers fall. However the ending of fallen Angel is pretty humourous and good IMO...

Not too good each, but OK. Neither books really achieves much IMHO.

Zooming Around on a Deffkopta

Ill just throw this out there, would any of you want to see new playable factions for 40k?

Sure, I would:
* Traitor Guard
* Ad Mech
* Squats

Thanks, Dave. I read a third of Fallen Angels only about five months ago or so and couldn't for the life of me answer the question "how does this book relate to the heresy?" Glad this isn't an exam question!

@DRW and John: As standard boiler plate, I'd rather see the development of existing factions than the introduction of new ones. More particularly, as stated before, I'd like to see a bit of story progression that would reflect in the rules like Abaddon and Huron losing their respective preeminent status and the CSM dex going back to cult armies.

I don't think we really need anymore playable factions ATM in my opinion (for one thing there'd be more complaints about old codex's being neglected) and there's enough as it is IMHO.

I'd like a new campaign/storyline to emerge (eg. Armageddon, Black Crusade etc.), flesh out the current as Manchu said.

@Manchu & Dave: I don't think we need any more MEQ (BS4 S4 T4 Sv3+) factions, but we could *definitely* use the Traitor Guard and Ad Mech. Particularly Traitor Guard.

I reckon we could get by with a BA-style WD article on Traitor Guard since that seems like more of a conversion project than a product line. But I know that's not what WD does anymore. Agree emphatically that we don't need anymore (new) MEQ or even a significant revision of how SM themselves play. But I stand by my point about CSM going back to cult armies. The models are pretty much already there--although it would be nice to see some more Legion-specific troops, like TS termies or even just better packaging of existing troops (looking at you, NMs). Ad Mech, by contrast, would require an entirely new products line to be done well and that gets me back to wanting more Necrons and a redone DE line (and my own personal hobby horse, the pure Sisters/at least less freaks faction). Plus, simply adding a new faction would not necessarily drive the story ahead at all.

In all honesty I would rather see LESS playable factions. Trim the SM back down to the SM it would make life easier for all parties involved if there was only ONE type of SM army.
