You cant move flat out 18 inch on the turn you embark or disembark.

Well, if I can't then its news to me. =p

It didn't make a difference in the game though; I had already lost by that point and was just being a good sport. =p

Yup, he's right. See pg. 70, under "Fast Transport Vehicles."

Ah well....I'll know for next time.

You know what's really interesting: You learn the rules inside and out, and are sure you know everything....and I swear that every tournament I go to, there's something new that jumps up that I didn't know.

Up in your base, killin' all your doods.

Check it, he played the same guy, except on round 1.

Well....its not that it wasn't fun to play against because I like a challenge, but I made some tactical decisions that I regretted.

Lorek wrote:Not really. There's not much in the game that's more than 48" in range, though. It's things like:

  • Some Artillery, mostly Imperial

  • Battlecannons and Vanquishers

  • Tau Railguns and Ion Cannons

  • Hunter-Killer Missiles (and kinda Tau Seeker Missiles, although here you're limited by the Markerlight)

  • A smattering of Psychic Powers

  • Prism Cannons (I think)

  • Master of the Forge has a 72" Conversion Beam too, which is especially fruity at long ranges

I think it's wise to go towards BW mech list. Lootaz are very situational at best and there are plenty of ways to neutralize them plus they are quite fragile. If I were you I would just drop the lootaz. I would definitely keep Ghaz, he's golden through and through. I think you might want to beef up your deffkoptaz count as they are another golden unit for duh boyz. Nobz are always a solid choice and one of the best units. I'm not a big fan of stormboyz as I find them to also be a situational unit... Win Big/Lose Big at best.

Good to see the tourney experience is helping ya to better flesh out your overall list. I am curious as to why you don't consider using nob bikerz.

Nob bikers are ridiculously expensive in points. I'm sure Dash has some other reason for not using them, but thats my biggest problem.

    They are awesome though .

Great series of reports, Dash. I had a great time reading them, they got me through a very slow work day!

May I ask a question though? I don't play Orks. I play Necrons and CSM... both of which you crushed here. A very good friend of mine plays Orks and, although we tend to play lower points values, his list shows similarities to yours. I'm curious; what kind of list does mechanised Ork assault find uncomfortable? Is there a specific race/construction combination that, when using your Orks, makes you think "Bugger... what am I going to do here?"

Mechanized Dark Eldar, Mechanized Eldar, mechanized IG - all of those are nasty and scary.

    Foot-slogging IG is ugly too.
