Maybe, how did humans explore space during the dark age of technology when the emperor wasn't around?
Slowly, very slowly.
While it's possible that they had a technological means of finding Terra for a reference point for warp jumps, things have changed a lot since then.
Howeve,r before navigators appeared, they probably did, compared to the modern standard of warp jumps, very, very brief dips into the immaterium

the DA fluff says that the Fallen think that Lion El'Johnson is going to come back and absolve them. My theory is that Cypher wants to get to the Oprah because only the Oprah has the psychic chutzpah to rouse the Lion from his slumber to save the Fallen.

WTF? People always say gak like this. How the hell would they travel during the "dark" age of technology then? They don't need the astronomiwotsit they just think they do because they are ignorant.
Warp travel was possible but it was far less "ambitious", one couldn't cross the span of the galaxy in a single jump, for example.
I'd also assume that the perils of the warp are now stronger than they ever were in the Dark Age of Technology. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ma55ter_fett wrote:helgrenze wrote:Hmm... Stop the machines and that body dies.... and 'god' is free.
I think Cyphers job is to find a way to stop the machine and free the Emperor from the trap of his decaying body.

I like the Thorian perspective, especially because of the chaos that collapsing the Astronomican would create.

The Emperor has been soul linking human psychics and consuming them for the Astonomican. But what happens after they are dead. Are they part of the Emperor, the thousands of facets roaming the gallaxy protecting humanity?
Just like Slannish consumed the Eldar and grew into existence, maybe the Emp consumed the human souls (who would have a hard time in the warp anyway, even if they survived) and will grow into a god himself. Maybe there will be an Eye of Order centered on Earth, where the warp has been formed into ordered ways and all sorts of good warp entities live. Heaven, but under siege by outside forces perhaps.

After many millennia of recovering the Emperor gets up from his golden throne ready to lead the Imperium again, as he makes his way the great stairway leading down from his throne....he slips on a banana skin and falls down all the millions upon millions of stairs leading down to the ground (making a complete fool of himself). Then a patrolling titan slips on a leman russ and lands on the mangles corpse of the Emperor, complete obliterating him in mind and body.... Abbadon laughs.

I refuse to believe that any two people could have reached such a conclusion independently without the use of advanced thought stealing machinery and the personal assistance of Leonardo DiCaprio as detailed in the movie “Inception”.

Doesn't the core rulebook state that techpriests have found malfunctions in the Golden Throne far beyond their ability to repair?
The Emperor's going to die a slow, lingering death as the Golden Throne fails. Once his last cells are dead, there'll be nothing to anchor his psychic power. It'll dissipate or explode or whatever. Then the Imperium falls.

If abaddon would hurry his ass up and use his planet killer on Cadia, all chaos would spill forth from the EOT....Next stop: TERRA, the throne of the corpse emperor.
They arrive right at the right time. The CSM ships shoot out of the warp and disrupt every defence laser. Then they get help form their dark eldar firiends. So the dark eldar pop out of somewhere and slaughter everyone on Terra, and join forces with The Chaos Marines in exchange for a large area of space for them to colonize. Then the Tau get some other piece of space to colonize and agree to donate railguns to the CSM. The CSM put railguns on all of their rhinos, and totally punch face. With Holy Terra in ruins from the combined onslaught of all these amazing dudes, abaddon and some black legion guys make their way to the golden throne. The emperor is just sitting there, so they shoot him with a plasma cannon. So yeah, he died. The end. Chaos Wins

SO failbaddon should ruin it, again, with his temper?
You know, Cadia keeps the route stable, without there is no way to move in force....

Actually I think Cypher is the Lion. And that the Lion'el jonson is an impostor. And the Fallen Angels are the actual Dark Angels, and the Dark Angels are just mislead. and that Dark Angels give false reports saying the fallen angels are tainted by chaos.
And the Lion knows if he can release the Emperor the imperium will be saved.
And all the primarchs will return. I actually want to make a fanfic about it.

Yep Dark Lord Sean is one of our best writers. I also have told him about my chapter. But he said improve your lore.
The Storm Crusaders are one of the few chapters that will be able to hold out.
The Emperor in my mind will die but cypher will of done it. And half the universe will be safe.
