I just put together a box of scouts and discovered (much to my dismay) that if the torsos won't attach correctly unless they are pivoted. What's more, if you pivot them to the right, then the arms won't fit on correctly! (At least when armed with shotguns) I very nearly destroyed a few models in a fit of Hulkish rage.

I agree with this 100%. I had a hell of a time assembling my Necrons, because although they're relatively flexible, if you attempt to customize them in any way that doesn't involve them staring straight downfield, guns held at rest, they look doofy. I wanted to have a few staring down the "sights" of their Gauss guns, a few holding their guns in one hand by the stock, maybe one pointing or otherwise gesturing downfield - it can't be done.

I also had to rip the torsos off and reglue them when I realized they're supposed to be hunched forward. If you stand them upright, then put the heads on, they're looking 45 degrees up in the air.

Lack of customizability in models makes me rage. I love action poses, and use them any time I can. S'why the customizability of Fire Warriors and Battlesuits makes me dance with glee.

Huh, top knots are usually a priority for my chaos marines

I never EVER leave faces on any of my marines. Too much trouble for nothing. Even my champions have helmets, despite GW's tendency to take helmets off of veterans.

How can you possibly stay away from horns though? 80% of the heads on the sprue have horns.

I knew someone would get shot and spray as they went down. And helmets would stop brain sucking preety well too.

I use helmetless heads for command units. So my HQ and most squad leaders (sterngaurd have a helmeted leader, and I always mistake him for a basic trooper). Helps me pick them out of the crowd, which is nice, and I grew up on the starter sets, so it just came naturaly to not have command units have helmets.(But my command squad is mostly all helmets)

Agreed. Give me plastic any day. It holds glue more readily, it can be easily repositioned, and can be customized 100% faster than metal.

I hate kroot. I'll put together 100 Necron warriors before I do another Kroot model. The arms/hands just don't fit in a natural way.

In my current SW army, only the guys with heavy/special weapons or on vehicles wear helmets. How can you smell your enemy through a re-breather?

I could not agree more. It just feels wrong and out of place to use them.

Paint... for some reason it always seems I have more models without any than with. Though this is from me either not being able to find the time or spending too much time on a single model. I'll fix this eventual, I hope.

I'll also agree with the metal models. Particularly ones with spears/poles or connecting via a thin joint. The latter is more because I will normally pin any metal model, while the spears never seem solid not stay strait.

1) Top-knots. On orks, or on Chaos Marines. I hate them, I think they look stupid. I cut off any and all top-knots. Any other hair on orks gets removed too.

2) Horns on chaos marines. I avoid those heads altogether.

3) Flag poles on the back of motorcycles. Eldar jetbikes, marine bikes, the old ork bikes - all had poles for banners. Gah.

4) Agree on the helmet thing - Marines should wear helmets.

Wow, are we the same person?

All my CSM have a horn and hair-ectomy. Most of my Orks got their top knots and other hair chooped off too. All my eldar jetbikes have had their flag poles removed.

If I had a SM army, they would all be helmeted, my CSM are hard core though, so some of them wear the half helms or are bare headed.

Am I the only person that actually puts grenades and knife pouches on his guardsmen? It's not that much work, really. The sprue has enough of them to use on the whole unit...

But other than guardsmen, I never put grenades on models. Space marine grenades just looks silly, and the chaos space marine ones are even dumber.

You don't think guardsmen grenades look silly?
Look at their size, even berzerkers use smaller grenades.

They look silly, but it's not like their hard to put on or anything..They make the models look more ready for battle, IMO.

I hate building rhinos. I prefer to build marines than vehicles.

I also never put backpack banners on my marines.

I do sometimes put on frags but I never put on the crack grenades or melta bombs.

I do have one tactical marine holding those scrolls. IMO a rather nice pose that he has going on.

Banner poles. Thematically it might make sense that the mighty Astartes want their enemies to know who their are facing. But seriously: 1) IC it is just a giant "please kill me"-symbol and 2) poles make transporting the models infuriatingly difficult.

I agree on the second point (allocate two slots to one Marine, problem solved, though) but disagree on the first. You think your nine-foot-tall supersoldier in brightly colored power armor needs a banner to scream "shoot me?"

Trust me, these guys will get noticed with or without their banners.

Couldn't agree more. Rhinos, although great to have, are a pain to build. I'm so glad that the two land raiders i have were built by their previous owners.

IMO, Rhinos are easy to build but are very boring. At least with infantry you can pose them and have every model look very different.

I hope none of you ever have the misfortune of building a land raider. It has to be one of the most irritating, infuriating and messy builds in 40k. I had to remove the bottom plate about 10 times before I got it perfectly level and straight. If you mess that up, the entire model is wrong. Don't even get me started on that little gear mechanism. Mine was coated in "finger glue". Boy am I glad it isn't visible

Guardsmen, if you foolishly cut all the pieces of the spruce and put in you bit box it can be a real problem getting the arms to match up. I've had to modify a number of my special weapons arms just so it looks like they are actually holding the things. That and there is just so many of them, i've got another 22 to make for a list i'm working on and i'm not looking forward to it.

Also the stupid little elevation wheel on the basilisk main gun, man thatthing is annoying.

I did this after I made like 8 guardsmen. I put the rest of the bits in an altoids tin! Anyway, I'm sure I'll have problems with in the future. Next time, I'll carve a number into the inside of the arms.

I just leave a little bit of spruce connecting them now, doesn't take up too much room.

Oh I also forgot sentinels legs, the ball joint on the foot make putting the rest together a chore.

If the space marine banner is anything like the arial on my armored sentinels I feel your pain.

Does the sentinel have the pieces to make it an armoured one in the box?

Yeah, its gots loads of bits in the kit actually. You can make three different types. A catachan, Armageddon or Cadian.

Tat remind me of some stuff i never use. The chainsaw on the scout sentinel, until that thing gives me an extra attack i'm not using it and the role cage on sct sentinels.

I wish there was a functional use for that thing but your right it is worthless and lame to add to models. another thing i hated building was the renagade ogryn with dkok guy in his hands. It was a chore to get together and I broke it like 8 times.
