Quick personal musical history... to prove a point. I grew up force fed the oldies, which in a way gave me a healthy respect for the beatles. I branched out to rap as was typical in the neighborhood I grew up in. I kind of grew away from it the first time I heard Smells lLike Teen Spirit... something about that song and the whole grunge scene captured me and set me down the path of what I mostly listen to now.
My current tastes are a good mix of early 90 grunge, mid 90's alternative, and late 90's nu metal, with the occasional new band thrown in. Sadly I discovered the White stripes about a decade after they came out and I am kinking myself for that. I still listen to some rap and hip hop here and there.
All that being said... I truely think the second best concert I have ever seen was Jay-Z on the recent BP3 tour. That show just kicked too much ass.
And for interests sake... the best show i ever saw was Nine Inch Nails Lights in the Sky Tour.
I personally like rap, not all of it, but enough of it to say i like it.
Kanye West is generally pretty horrible but i have 1 song of his i like now (Amazing)
Eminem is probably my favorite, LiL Wayne is fun to listen to as is Teck N9ne and even some Hollywood Undead.
Jay-Z i feel is good but a overated, Nas is pretty incredible.
I cant stand Country music or black/death/power metal
Not saying rap music doesnt have bad influences but screwing the world up? come on

Holy gak, there is this british rap band called The Streets or something like that, and they are FETHING TERRIBLE. Their music is even bad for RAP! (I chose the last option). It's not even rap. It's some guy talking about random stuff with random sounds in the background. But it is so hilariously horrible that me and a friend bought one of their CD's just to annoy the crap out of people we don't like.
The streets are not rap.
See your american flag? that shows why.
Its chat, not rap, there is a pretty big difference.
Now, in general you cant sum up a group without a reasoning.
Every one of thier songs (notice its classed as a song, not a rap) are different.
I think everyone can appreciate some of it though. Young Money and Lil'Wayne are by no means representive of the entire genre.
It's kind of like saying Dragonforce represents all of metal.
Dragonforce own. I would sacrifice my soul to satan to get rid of rap.
DS:90-S++G+++M++B++I+Plotr06#+D+++A++++/eWD251R+++T(Ot)DM+ JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles. corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day. greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

I fething hate Kanye West.
I can't stand the guy, its not my fault i like ONE of his songs...and my liking of it was greatly contributed to the most liked comment on youtube saying "This song describes Darth Vader" so now i can't help it Ive actually taken the time to send songs into an editor and make it seem like he was never part of it
