Too bad it doesn't come with the Plasma gun for the las/plas option...

Kinda neat that the Land Raider Crusader/Redeemer kit comes compatible Twin-Linked Assault Cannons.

Good thing there are about 5 million extra plasma pistols in most people's bits box.

They keep putting them on sprues and we just keep refusing to use them.

But they make for great RB conversions! (Recently I've been going with 2 pistols chopped side-by-side on a pintle SB frame)

A Leman Russ came with a stormbolter, heavy bolters for the sponsons and hull, and the battlecannon with no variation.

In other words, quit your whining. You're getting any options whatsoever, when just a few years ago you wouldn't have.

Yeah, but back then the kits were not the same price as gold. There also was no WYWIWYG craze back then. When I could get three rhino's for $20 I didn't mind doing the work to make wirlwinds, vindicators, and sabers. When I paid $17 for the Leman Russ when it first came out, I didn't mind making my own tread guards, sponson weapons and even chopping up a figure for a tank commander. When the kit first came out there was no accessory sprue! The threw that in later....for free (ahh old GW how I miss thee)

Yes it is very nice that you can build the three different options on the tank, the kit looks like it may have even been made with magnets in mind. No complaints there. GW still makes the accessory sprue, plastic costs nothing, there is no R&D or redsign costs......just throw the sprue in there! Make customers happy. I think GW is money grubbing, but here the cost is minimal, I think they just didn't think about it, and or the new Leman Russ kit is really just one giant sprue, so it's easier to just cut that sprue and put it in the box and not throw the other sprue in.

Yeah, ok complete SM Dev's would be bigger. But not that much, IG heavy weapons teams come with all the options, so I don't see why the SM Devs can't.

If you are gonna charge Holy Grail prices for your kits, then they better be Holy Grail kits. You can't even make a real noise marine squad with the noise marine box!

Plastic is so cheap! The expense is in the design and production(plus all other kinds of crappy GW corporate decisions, really their overhead is way out of control) Throwing in a few more already designed and produced sprues is not going to cost them anything.........except that they can sell you those things separately.

I still don't understand the no bits service. There are so many people making money off this, GW really is dropping the ball there.

Not mine. I bought a pre-painted army because, honestly, I like the game but the hobby can stick it.

So you don't buy, assemble or paint things. Your interest in what is in the box is what exactly...?

Putting them on the table and rolling dice then going to the bar for a beer with my friends afterwards. Frankly, I don't have the time or the inclination for the hobby aspect of the game. To me, it's a game and I have no problem paying someone to do the hard part for me.

Right. I got that part. That's cool.

My question is why would you complain about what bits come in the box if you never look in or interact with the box or 'raw materials'?

As a comparison, I may love eating at mexican restaurants, but since I'm not cooking it doesn't matter if the tortillas come 2 to a box or 20, I still enjoy eating at the restaurant.

What if they only gave you corn tortillas and you wanted flour?

It's important in that it's a PITA to have to buy extra bits for the model if the one I buy off of e-bay doesn't already have it. Then my lazy butt actually has to paint the extra bit so I can use it. It's hard for me to creak my wallet open enought to pay commission prices; I just don't value the game enough to fork it over. I'd rather buy some new shoes or something I use everyday for the same price than something I use once or twice a month.

So, I guess I only care what's in the box to the extent it affects what I receive when I buy a pre-painted model. I haven't seen a whole lot of las/plas RBs on e-bay (not that I've really looked).

Like for Tyranids Warriors, they have all have to have to the same options as stated in the codex, so if you want Rending Claws you have to buy 3 boxes unless you go to a bits store. Which in my opinion you shouldn't have to do.

At least in the old days you could order individual parts from GW themselves ...

You can order the MC weapon sprue.

You've never been able to order plastic parts from GW.
