Ah looking at it the Sector with the circles in it would function perfectly well as a space port I am guessing the diameter of the loading/docking bays is about 100m? Perfect amount of room for a freighter or large shuttle i would imagine. You didnt answer my other question; is that a colliseum in the corner?

Nope, the diameter is even bigger, it's 250 meters. You could have multiple shuttles land or have large landers drop off their cargo.

That thing in the corner is indeed an arena/coliseum that is used for events, be it concerts, propaganda speeches, sport matches or more brutal activities such as gladiatorial combat.

Figured a little bit more out now. Apparently there are "printing option", enabling me to preview the model in some form of "hi-def" which simply looks too cool! Working on some Space Hulk/Psidemic like terrain!

What's that? A tunnel?

Enter the tunnel:

I realize that I will be needing a more powerful computer if I want to make entire gaming maps in this style, but it would be very cool for lets say a game of Space Hulk...

As for the city...there will be some updates soon...

I will put some higher res pictures of the city in coming days. Lack of internet is kind of preventing me to do that. :(

However, I've been working on a new project. This is another city project. This could be considered some sort of "mini hive". The idea is that you would originally have had several very tall buildings, but eventually more were added and more were connected to each other, creating a sort of single structure. Later on a form of shielding is placed around the city.

I'm currently working on a new and improved version of my original concept city. I will add no "details" (such as different colorings and fancy renderings, or arches, etc) to the buildings. This will enable me to construct a larger city without my computer crashing, but also enable to simply give you a better 3d map of the city which focus on the city itself rather than small technicalities.

Note that this is still very much a work in progress:

Love your Projects Malika , i have always wondered how a hive was built , and how to recreate one . is ajust random buildings that eventully crumble under the weight of ten millienia of neglect ? the old confrontation had illustartions of a large heat sink that ran through the center of the hive . new project looks good also , shame about your comp ;-)

keep it up matey.

Nothing wrong with my computer, it's just not powerful enough to go full extreme with tons of details. However, that isn't so important since the "big picture" of the city doesn't need such extensive details, it's just there to show the different districts and important buildings.

As for Imperial hive cities, you might want to check out this discussion.

I was pondering that these towers might be factories/industrial buildings. But I imagine that the chimneys are way too big. If it is industry, these would be the only thing people get to see since most of it would be taking place underground.

Another idea I was toying with was that these are living spaces of a sorts. The structures would be surrounded by huge shanty town like areas. The towers might originally have had another function, but later on became hubs for migrants to move to. Since the main city wouldn't want its poor living in it (only working there), it keeps the poor at a distance not only by walling the city itself, but also by creating distance between the main city and poor zones, which have surrounded these towers.

Maybe the towers are indeed industry, but not in the giant chimney sort of way. Need to figure that out, but I guess that would go once I would make a more detailed "map" of one of the towers.

The city is almost done, after that it will be adding colours to it and filling in data here and there!

For now this city is more or less finished, all I might do it play a bit with the shades, fog and those kind of things, but the construction of the buildings is done.

I might try to make it look more like an interactive map.

After this I am very tempted to take a closer look at those towers surrounding the city...

But yeah, pictures:

Started working on a new city, the previous map and this one will just be two different worlds, might be used for RPG's:

Retook the industrial towers from the previous design and placed them here as well:

I started working with sketch up again, and something different than a city! I started working on some robots...

Maybe they could inspire a sculptor, or maybe we could convert them into a file suitable for a 3d printer. Well...at the moment they are just concepts. They have two types of heads and are either armed with a close combat weapon (industrial tool to carry large pieces of metal which can easily crush rocks/bones/etc) or a RPG/shotgun like weapon, or even both of each type as you can see on the pictures.

Whoa, really impressive series of projects, I'm still kinda trying to take it all in.

You've got a great eye for detail, in any case. I agree with EagleArk that the robot legs seem pretty thin to support the massive upper frames.
