but, really the biggest thing about the US that I like is all of the stuff that you can do here. The American West is chock full of national parks and historical sites. The East has lots of Civil War battlefields (although not for much longer , damn creeping civilization! ) You can own a machine gun which is nice... Hmm, what else, oh yes, Low (relatively) taxes.

Point taken. Europe has been paying through the nose for petrol for years.
They also have a much better mass transit infrastructure though and their population centers are far closer together than ours.

This is true. Cost of living over there also seems to be much higher than here. Again, this is just from personal experience -- I don't have oodles of data at my fingertips, but from what I've seen things there are generally more expensive. From food at the grocery store, to housing costs, to electronics, things just cost more. But again, I'm sure stuff varies depending on where you live, just like it does here. But then things like BMWs and Mercedes don't cost as much because they are produced in Europe, and thus no import tax. I'd rather have good food than German Engineering, but I guess it's a tradeoff.

Yep, all the fun of putting it to the savages still to come. However, I chose that map simply because it was nice and decorative, rather than because of the time period it represented from the rise and fall of the British Empire.

England is actually pretty good when you think about it.... (although we could do with a better Football team....) (and i would rather be fully Irish )
I'm going to add Dubstep to British music I only started listening to it yesterday, and for some reason i really love it and have had various stuff on since....
Those photos in first post are amazing, i think i need to go to lake district again

I went to the lake district for a week last year, rented a nice cottage in Coniston. It was awesome. I spent an hour convincing the people in the pub that Middlesbrough was much nicer than the stereotypical town full of thugs and drunks, and all the people were all very good humoured and friendly.
Unfortunately on the way home i was taken ill and started aggressively vomitting out the window and up the side of the hire van (we crashed the car into a tree a few days earlier) as we drove through the village.

So......, you were pissed as a fart, crashed the car in a drunken haze, convinced the locals in the pub that you're not all lager louts then got in the hired van, pissed as a fart, then vomited all the way back to Middlesborough?
Good going.
