To be fair, a Space Marine player can't in good faith claim to be playing humans, seeing as how they're mutants and all.

ChrisCP wrote:Because I think personally, the real problem is when people are convinced to say "I'm a SW player." instead of "I play the humans." which I understand, but I don't think it's fair to expect people to buy another $330 worth of models to play a different shade of the games poster-boys, because that's what they are their for - to encourage players to change and adapt their game... Otherwise eveyone would come in on a Xenos learning curve and there'd be no more easy curbstomping ^_^

I don't even think it's about people chopping and changing - the wargear and army composition is sufficiently different between BA/SM/SW/BT that you couldn't just switch between them.

This is true the more I consider it.
It's probably note that hard (an hour or so of maths) to work out the maximum number of models needed to field 'most' of the 'armies' one would wish. Things like Jump-packs could boost the figure. It would be one obstacle to overcome but for the common (1250-2000 iirc?) point range isn't too great a hurdle for the dedicated marine player.

To sympathise, it makes for a whole Rorschach-test-saner-human to collect 'excessive' points of marines against the Xenos, there's a reason to had a25x25 of everything O

Yeah, I don't believe you at all.

"Alternatively, you can use the rules for a named character to represent a mighty hero of a different chapter" C:SM

So, using a model from one chapter to represent a different chapter is just fine.

You want to quote something that says you have to have particular colours or heraldry to use a particular codex?

I swear, some of these horror stories I read about w/ gaming clubs... it's funny at my gaming club if you show up just to watch you are basically welcomed into the fold and everybody is friends. Store employees, owners, players, we all treat each other with respect and play at each others houses.

I've seen so many other units proxied (even from different armies) and its never been an issue. Your opponent needed to grow up..

Total Finecast models purchased: 5
Total models without Finecast issues out of those purchased: 0

Okay so second night at the club went much better, was beaten (pretty badly due to a awful lot of 1s and 2s! But had a great time doing it.

Was chatting with a bunch of the others guys and apparently I'm not first victim in this, if he comes across an army he might have trouble with he backs out, rather lose! Hmmm... Now I love to win, but who cares if you lose as long you've had fun, eh?

Thanks again guys for all the support... Keep gaming.

Keep painting... keep playing... keep having fun...

Certain places can be hardasses. The old Fairview Gamesworkshop had a strict WYSIWYG, as well as everything had to be painted to tabletop quality before you can use them. The one at Scarborough town center is a little more lenient, but the local FLGS Conspiracy comics is the best, as they allow proxies and even unpainted models.

It's all dependant on the store owners. A few FLGS I know want fully painted models and no proxies because you were indirectly helping him sell models (kid sees this beautifully painted army duking it out, whines to mom that he wants one, owner gains phat stack of loot).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I use my black templars as codex marines sometimes. Not a single person has complained. However, I only play with awesome people.

Sorry about your experience dude. I hope the rest of your club is better.

You can have BONE coloured Templars.

I saw some inverse Black Templars that were outstanding. Bone white as the primary color and black as the trim color. I'd love to play against that army.
