that would be cool, but that would take freakin forever.

Oh yeah. It would be long. But Eisenhorn or The Inquisition War or similar provide a stronger story base to give to a wider audience. I mean...people likely won't be interested in a movie thats all about Space Marines roflstomping something; as theres no story. But if its plot-based it can be accepted by people as a generic sci-fi movie much easier. Eisenhorn could be taken as a Detective story.

It would make a nice TV-show.

I know that, what i am seeing here people want to see one good fight in a movie. Because any major battle in 40k would be epic proportions ( like War for Armageddon or Battle for Macragge ).

For Emperor and Imperium!!!!

I saw previews of Sucker Punch and Priest last weekend, it almost hurts thinking about a Inquisition/Cain/Gaunt movie with that kind of production quality.

I feel that any SM movie is going to suck, they are just too Mary Sue to ever be interesting in a movie. DW in a Inq movie could be interesting used as a tool of the Ordos Xenos.

I would love to see the Word Bearer CSM books released as movies, great stories that would break the mold of the "good guys always win" theme that is totally pervasive.

IMHO it all comes down to screenplay. I live within walking distance of a very nice movie theater that has great discounts, I see a lot of movies. It is my opinion that good screenplays are the rarest commodity in the movie business. An Inq mystery could make for a great screenplay more easily than most other slug-fest subjects.

The WH40k universe has many, many rules. Like in politics, when you are explaining, you are losing/failing. The only successful recent movie that comes to my mind where rules are explained is Inception.

Tyranids would make such an excellent movie threat. All they need is a voiceover at the beginning talking about how the devour all in their path, blah, blah blah. Basically it would be cool to see a Carnifex rip open a land raider.

On the other hand, how are they going to actually make it interesting? A giant swarm of aliens isn't exactly gripping by itself. The focus would have to be continuing on whoever's fighting the Tyranids, which might not be as interesting as seeing the various motivations and thoughts behind both the antagonists and the protagonists.

An Imperial genocidal invasion of Tau space told from the perspective of a Tau warrior, with none of that Chaos stuff.

Great opportunity to tell 40k from the perspective of non-humans, great opportunity to have the Imperium look threatening and uniquely non-heroic, and so on.

Preferably it would point out the Imperium's justification for it (otherwise it'd be like Avatar, with the whole "need it to save Earth" idea not being explained in the film). Possibly have two movies about the same invasion, one from each side?

Here goes. Planet, happy, peaceful, prosperous, free, distant and independent. Out of nowhere a administratum adept lands in a shuttle, meets with the leaders and demands compliance. Some want to talk, others strongly reject the imperium. Avatar/Dances with Wolves/Fern Gully ensues. The ones who want to talk resign themselves to helping those that strongly reject the imperium. By the end of the movie it is revealed that the ones that strongly reject the imperium are agents of the ruinous powers. The imperium were the good guys the whole time. Movie ends in exterminatus.

I want to see a live-action film containing humans and/or Eldar. Something that can be done without lots of CGI.

A movie wouldn't do the HH justice, what we need is a multi-million dollar series chronicling every event *drool*.

I can only hope in the next 40k 'movie' that there's less walking and a bit more action...and better facial animation ofc!

They will hopefully keep from doing something epic until Codex Pictures has more money/skill. Maybe by movie 3 or 4 we'll get something truly awesome, like a Horus Heresy movie.

40k generally doesn't leave a whole lot for character development. I feel like if you want to see the 40k Universe on the big screen, you would be better off focusing on some of the specialist games that take place in that universe.

For example, Dark Heresy could very easily put to movie format. Inquisitorial agents hunting traces of daemons? Awesome!

Necromunda, a futuristic gang warfare flick? Possibly doable.

It's hard to capture the essence of 40k in a movie that isn't an hour to two hours of constant fighting. If you were going to do it, though, your best options for character development would include Imperial Guard, Space Wolves, and Eldar. Nids would probably make the best bad guys.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

I'd say the bad has to be one that simple in character. Something people will understand in less than a minutes explanation. So orks or Tyranids.

I think Maccrage would be good. Has familiarity for the general public with the Starship Troopers -esque Tyranids. Also has the opportunity to showcase all the awesomeness of SMs.
