Hence why they have a problem with Monsters
I don't see where there's a problem. They are getting a monster kit in May, some other armies are getting them this summer. Some already have them. No problem. And no more news for a while obviously. Bye to this thread.

What I meant was that they have no point in having Monsters. Ogres could easily use enslave Monsters like they did with the Giant, Empire can use them because of their Menagerie zoo thing (cant remember what its called). Dwarves and Tomb Kings have no context to use Monsters, adding the fact that TKs are getting a brand new amazing two in one Monster kit on May gives them even less reason. Unless you undeadify the Monsters then there is no reason.

Because most of the monsters we're seeing released are related to the Transformation spell

Just call it summer of monsters then .

In Warhammer, high levels of magic are needed for large numbers of monsters to spawn. You can't have one without the other.

Also, pictures of big monsters look pretty cool, and appear to be a good way to pry open people's wallets.

I have recently been diagnosed with swelling in the brain, so please excuse spelling mistakes and faulty sentences. I am losing my ability to type and talk effectively, but dammit, that is not going to stop me from trying.

That sounds pretty damn awesome! Can't wait! Lands near my birthday too, so i'm not going to have to splash out for some of the monster kits!

I guess the top picture could be a dragon, or chimera. If it weren't for the purple face on the bottom one i'd say it was some sort of giant white lion for the HE.

This. GW wouldn't have need for an expansion if it didn't come with something for us to buy.

Some nice confirmations by Harry over at Warseer:
Rosstifer wrote:I wonder if it will be more generic monsters that anyone can take as opposed to race specific monsters, like back in the day.

This is a good bet.
Nocculum wrote:Any rumination as to whom the wizards will be?

Many and varied
jme wrote:Wonder if this will be the first time we'll see the new resin models? (for the new wizards).
Also wonder if the new monsters will have riders.

I think we will see some resin.
I wonder if there will be options on the sprues?
stahly wrote:Or nothing?
Usually we see 3 to 4 plastic kits for each release, Dark Eldar had 6 but that was a big push. From the teasers we got a plastic Black Dragon, a Manticore and from the Beastmen rumor thread there might be something for them as well. Add some terrain kits and there are plenty of plastic models for a month.
I'd guess the rest are several metal/resin wizards for various races, but don't expect too much, Harry said before that this release isn't as big as that every army would get something.

I did ... But quite a few will.
It was just when Bram first mentioned this he made it sound like all armies got new kits ... and in a way he was right.
Haravikk wrote:I'm interested by the mention of new scenery though in particular, I love scenery, but I'm hoping it'll be magic buildings/towers etc. for other races, as Empire is pretty well covered at the moment. Some more normal terrain would be nice but the expansion doesn't look like it'll be geared for that.

It sounded to me like it was generic bits of warhammer goodness bursting up from the ground rather than race specific buildings for any army
Paull wrote:as far as the pics go, i think what we've got is a manticore and something else, i can't imagine it being a dragon as it looks like it has feathers / fur rather than scales.

Feathers you say... I had heard something about a Cockatrice a while back
Portentous wrote:It IS a plastic Warhammer Dragon. Can build diff varieties just like the Giant.
The other is the plastic Manticore / Chimera.
The other monstrous release will no doubt be the Beastmen Cygor/Ghorgon that Harry has confirmed has been waiting for release for ages.

Manticore/Chimera kit you say? I did hear something about a Chimera.
I don't think it was me that said anything about a Cygor/Ghorgon ... did I?
Grimmeth wrote:Does that DE_Dragon pic mean we might finally get a new Malekith sculpt?
Oh my... Dusting of my Druchii just in case though!

I did hear something about Malekith.
But that may be unrelated.
I have to say the next Dark Elf book is going to look pretty tasty with all these monster kits waiting in the wings.

I think this is great fun.
Great to see Fantasy getting some serious attention with a big expansion like this.
Great to see some more big kits.
Great to see some more terrain

Eventually all armies will have something big in plastic. (Look at the last few armies) BUT this way no one has to wait. We can all get stuck in.

BRING IT ON!

Interesting, generic monsters sound cool

But generic fantasy buildings=empire buildings from what we have usually gotten though. The old walled fortress they had back then doesnt match well for TK or Orcs

Have no idea why they mention a dark elf book, they just got one!

Hopefully the terrain will be usable for everyone & 40K too.
Well most monsters are magical in nature or creation. Just saying.

I'm interested in the terrain as I've wanted to get some stuff to use for 40k but also useable for fantasy. Though a lot of fantasy stuff can be used for 40k if you ignore how weak a stone fortress is in that universe.

My thoughts exactly. A third of the armies could do with new plastic infantry that doesn't look horrible.

Possible, but I don't remember anyone has seen the models and talked about it.
But Avatars of War seems to release some scantly clad female elf warriors with two swords soon

Second wave is waiting for a release slot, but I haven't heard of a date yet. And their army book is still quite new.

No Witch Elves, Shades, Executioners or Black Guard.

Just be a good lad and go buy more Space Marines.

See those pics?

Now, I'm not exactly up on my magic lore, but surely there must be some kind of gribbly monster that can literally be summoned, perhaps some kind of you know...elementals or something?

One would be icy, one could be firey, one could be windy (but hopefullly not farty) and so on.

And hey, those pics do look slightly icy in paint scheme, and one is certainly firey lookin....

It would be cool to see giant sized versions of the old elementals (well of course redesigned and detailed)

If they did elementals/summons/mystical constructs, I'd much prefer them based off the existing magic lores, rather than shoehorn the 4 elements into the lores somehow (fire would be easy, but not so much water). How cool could giant-sized elementals of light or life or shadow look?

Purely wishlisting speculation though. As you were.

If this happened, I'd rather see a variety of shapes and sizes. Heaven would obviously get something big like a flying Storm Elemental, but something like Fire or Metal could just as easily have a regiment of Flame-kin or clockwork troops.
