its not as awesome as one might think. these dreads seem to forget their previous abbilities when their entombed in the dread and swap them with a pretty lame power to affect stunned and shaken results on the dam chart....

Alright, we're getting off-topic. Anyway, I see no reason why a Techmarine shouldn't be a Dreadnought. Hell, that would be even more of an honor to them, to become one with such a machine!

thought I would add my two cents to this thread.

first off one of the main things tech marines (including MOFs) do is to control servitors. So I purpose that because of the excess space available to help him, the techdread should be either able to control more servitors, or make better use of the ones he has. So this means if he controls them better he would either get a better bonus per servitor toward his repair roll, or he would be able to control there guns better, so getting a better ballistic skill on all servitors.

second you guys seem to be focusing on the servo arms and the conversion beamer more than anything else. So with that said I would like to remind you of the fact that the tech also has a plasma cutter (plasma cannon anyone?) and a welder (flame storm cannon GO!). these weapons can BOTH be fired by the tech in one turn, so would this be carried over to the dread?

third, the conversion beamer increases strength and ap with range, so what would the new larger gun have a better rang or more power (or both?) that said is it even possible that the gun can be built any other way then what it is already. It says in the fluff that the beamer is built pre-heresy, which according to other fluff, no knows how to modified such things, and as far as the mechanicus is concerned, they don't want to, due to the extreme techno religion they run.

despite all this I still think this is a GREAT idea, so much so that I might put this into my fandex.

i did mention a Heaavy Plasma Cutter in my post above which would play as a multi-melta. But plasma cannon could work too.

Maybe you could do some adetus cyberneticus things. like start with a dread base or a sentinal and built something mad.

have a look at these. there a bit 'underdone' compared to what your thinking of doing but ther may be some ideas there. found them while surching for hoverbikes, quite funky tbh.

I think that GW would make a healthy profit by creating an Adeptus Mechanicus Codex and some accompanying models.
