Hey guys. Sorry for lack of updates over the last week. I've been away on holidays (to greece, very nice time) and so havent done hardly any work on my gals since then, but the night before i went away i did finish the seraphim pre paint. I will be adding a bit more rubble (small chopped up things and sand) to the bases.
The 2 days i've been back from holidays have been raining so no chance to Prime them yet. Hopefully we'll get afew days of dry weather here in the UK soon!
The Rhino is still not fully finished. But i now know exactly what i want to do with it, so shouldnt be too long. I think the way for me to get around painting Rhino hulls is to paint them all in one go. So soon i will build my other Rhinos, 1 Immolator, and 2 Exorcists and work them all at the same time, and break up the painting with other units. Otherwise I think i'll go insane have to effectively repeat the same thing over and over.
Sounds like a good plan Grenat. I've been playing with afew ideas still. I also thought the Adeptus Ministorum icon but instead of a skull in the "halo" part at the top, put a tear drop instead. As for your Order icon, hmm, i'll have a think heh. I'm rubbish at making up icons as you can see.
Flinty, thanks =) I think it looks ok. Like i have said, the weathering was mostly to break up the mass of gold threatening to blind me.

Hey guys. Things have been going pretty slow here, or I underestimated how long these models would take to paint, one or the other. I've only completed half the Serephim atm and starting the second half asap. I tried some freehand on the parchment i greenstuffed on, which came out not the best, but ok. I also noticed when resizing the photos that i have missed afew things (like purity seal parchment etc). I also need to choose a colour for the orb type bits on the backpacks. Any ideas?
Back to the painting desk for me... have fun! =)

I think the orbs look fine black, but maybe red would look good, and it would keep the palette limited as well.

Yes, i was juggling between Red, Black, Silver, and green (could fit as it's my grenade/seal colour). May add some highlights to the black, see how it looks =) Thanks

Yeah, though the green might end up a bit overrepresented on the model, overpowering the other colours, or it could look great

Great, S'jet ! As always !
These golden seraph are going to inflict awe to all their opponents.
I love your freehand work on the parchments. I would like to be able to do something like that on my sister. I will give it a try, when I will be sure that my painting skills have improved a little...
I would say black or somewhat red, for thes orbos. I think there is enough green with grenades and seals.
When is your next game ?

Havent planned my next game yet Grenat. Works been pretty crazy, and concentrating on painting in my spare time. I plan to start playing more if/when this WD codex that's been rumored comes around (or not). It's actually made me rethink my army building order also. What if there is Repressors in the new dex (i know there are forgeworld rules, but....) and i've just painted up 3 Rhino's..... So the Tank i have pretty much finished painting is once again going back to the painting bourd once the other 4 Seraphim are done. I'll be swapping out the turret for the immolator, and making it the transport for my canoness & celestians. Will be adding some extra's to it, but its a safe option, as immolators are unlikely to change as an option for celestians.
The Rhino hull's i now have partially built (which i was planning to paint soon) are on hold for a bit, as im seriously considering converting to Repressors. I've got Plasticard etc, and i think i can pull it off. The main problem will be the Bulldozer Blades. There's too many new things im learning last few months heh, but gotta try them all right?! =)
So my workbench order atm is 4 Seraphim, Finish Immolator, 2 Exorcists (which will need some plasticard love too).

These news seemed pretty crazy sometimes ago, but I think we must be ready to do with it, very soon...
And your work is great, so take the time you need, in what order suits you the most. We will be more than ready to see your beautiful results !

Hey guys. I know this blogs been dead a long time, had afew second thoughts with the new "dex" business, and wanted to see how it would turn out. I nearly sold all my sisters, but in the end decided to see this project through. With that said, i wanted a "pick-me-up" project. Although it isnt a SoB mini, I have been playing with alot of gold recipe's in the last 6 months and wanted to see if i could paint the NMM like the WD tutorial, plus i had the sanguinor body left over from the conversion of my Living Saint.
Some of the blends arnt perfect, and the white highlights are a little thick in places, but i can tidy those up at the end. I know its unoriginal and you've seen it all before, but any advice on hows it going would be appreciated.
Cheers
S'jet

So yeah, long time no update! I've got a problem which some seem to have, and thats not sticking with 1 project for the time required to see it through. I've actually nearly finished a whole Wood Elves Army, started some Dark Eldar and painted the odd mini i liked in my absence. I'm actually really glad I finally got my sister bug back.
I decided this time round to do a larger batch. So we have 11 bolter sisters, 2 flamers, 3 meltaguns, 1 multi-melta, 4 heavy bolters and 4 superiors, plus an imaginifier i had which i thought i'd add for no particular reason =p The gold armour is finished, and i've tidied up any mistakes ready for the next steps....
Nothing really of note as far as conversion go apart from this one -
I needed another superior with combiflamer for my second dominion squad, so slapped that one together from a spare seraphim model i had.
This is all the standard power armour models i'm going to need for the army. After comes the painting of 3 Rhino's, 2-3 Immolaters, 2 Exorcists. And then Uriah+cult+Rhino. Finish up my Seraphim Squad which is nearly finished already, and then Celestine, and possibly a Repentia squad. Hoping I can stick with it this time.
Cheers guys! Back to work!

@prime12357 - Good to be back =) Cheers!
@Thatguy91 - Thanks! I'm just glad they arnt sitting in a draw anymore =)
@Celtic Strike - Well, originally a long time back, i was going to convert my Seraphim to have twin inferno pistols. So i cut the hand flamer hands off (literally just the gloves, which go right up to the elbow on most sisters) carefully. Cant remember if i used a razorsaw or pliers, i think a saw. Then i drilled the holes for the pins with a pinvice. The sword arm is obviously from the canoness blister, all i did was smooth out the rounded surface to the right angle. The other arm holding the combi weapon is just a plastic arm i had, think its a dark eldar warrior arm.

@Celtic Strike - Here is the second of the pair of convertions i was going to do a similar thing with this model... I can see the tell-tale sign of clipper marks in the center of the cut, so must have used clippers at least for that arm. Hope that helps.
@prime12357 - the red looks baaaaad right now. So....no =p It needs another coat!

Update time! Whilst it may not look like i've done much, if you consider the amount of details on sister models, it actually takes a whole bunch of time.
Approx. 80 Fleur de Lys, 30 Skulls and 25 " I-quila's", plus all the faces and lenses later, it shouldnt be long before these gals are done.
Some things arn't perfect, but i now understand that for me, if i want an army done some time this century, i'm gunna have to stop at "good enough" sometimes.

The faces look really great, and the gold is as good as ever. I'd consider them quite "good enough," though I feel that they need something to set off the rather warm colors. The green of the grenades and seals seems to work, but I feel that it may need to be expressed more. Perhaps something on the bases?
