Back in the UK and hating it

Really like the Eldar corsair with heavy weapons, thinking of adding Corsair squads to my DE army for Apoc games.

The Corsairs Upgrades are pretty cool. I personally like their nod towards the old Rogue Trader ideas. Howerver £16.00 for four mini upgrades hurts me in my nuts (especially when there are existing pieces for the melta and flamer already). For £16.00 I was hoping for 2x of each, or more pieces to the kit. Hell, for £18.00 you get upgrades for 10 regular guardians. GW and company sure does know how to make a guy drool, and pay for it.

My £'s are going to all the other FW stuff coming out - Wasps & Lynxes & Phantoms -OH MAI!

what are the regular corsairs supposed to have? those aren't shuricats and Eldar don't have lasguns anymore (they'd be too big anyway i think)

I love the Eldar, I don't care for these designs, but I think they are executed well enough and I am just happy to see some xenos get some alternate parts for their infantry. Now maybe one day they'll come out with some add-ons for Tau FCWs and we'll be in business.

I think the issue with the Salamander pads is that they got the Salamander Terminator pad, ripped off the drake and stuck it on the smaller pad and spent all their time attempting to mould it around the pad, rather than making a smaller drake to stick on there, one which would actually fit on the pad. Had they done so, the proportions would be a hell of a lot better than they are.

If the heads weren't so far back that the spikes were overlapping the border, then it wouldn't be so blatantly obvious, but unfortunately they didn't put as much time into this project as they should have, the casting is sub-par (even for forgeworld standards) and painting is very average (and boring).

However, I will still buy them because I wish not to use Alpha Legion pads in place of Salamander pads (why couldn't they take a leaf from those beauties?).

The Salamander pads might not look too bad from the front, where they're usually seen from.
Has anyone tried them yet?

I thought you younger guys might enjoy this... the original Eldar Corsairs! (back in the day when there was no such thing as "craftworld Eldar"... all eldar were pirates. Pardon the paint jobs, they were done a very, very long time ago.

Top Row, L-R: flamer, plasma gun, PF & flamer pistol
Bottom Row, L-R: missile launcher, las cannon, melta gun

Wow , not seen those for a LONG time, I've got some in storage may have to dig them out & strip them. I like the reaction from most gamers when you put older models onto the table

On the topic of the new FW eldar corsairs with heavy weapons , I'm not that taken back - Nice but not something I'd splash out on

I have some old harlequins with a web pistol and it had a different type of nozzle... kind of rectangular that got broader farther out. Almost like a rectangular shower head. They did have some very odd weapons in those days, especially pistols.

I am digging the corsairs.

But then again anything harkening back to the heady days of Rogue Trader is great in my book. A nod to the older vets is always appreciated.

I don't miss Vortex (the psychic power). Everyone under the sun knew how to identify it when drawing powers and so SOMEHOW, it always ended up in the deadly hands of Mephiston.

No... Really scotty... I don't know what you're talking about...
I like those corsairs for the same reasons as Alpharius I guess.
About thir rules I'd bet my right kidney they're going to be relentless and become the new fashionable hit and hide nightmare!

Just Dave wrote:I'm not sure I like the idea of your standard Eldar CARRYING a Heavy Weapon (like a Space Marine; they should use platforms as they do all ready IMHO), but they certainly look really good.

i agree, but the Dark Eldar carry theirs, although they have those "suspensor" bits, which i presume are kind of little anti-grav devices to help make the heavy weapons lighter. i think they should have integrated suspensors into these non-Dark Eldar heavy weapons too, since they share so much of the same/similar technology.

I dunno, even then, Eldar weapons being on platforms is pretty iconic.
