I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but if you like Sci-Fi you should check out Fringe. It's basically like the X-Files but with an alternate universe instead of aliens...well...there may be aliens. Plus, John Noble is pretty amazing. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is that new TNT show. Falling Skies, or something. It will probably just end up canceled like everything else, though.

Dr. Bishop!
Sci-Fi seems to be spinning down for the moment, but it'll be back, they just need for people to forget about the plots of older shows...

Yes, it has.
The first season aired on SyFy, but then BBC started up the whole BBC-A or bust thing.

99% sure they did finish out the season.
The jist of it, from what I've gotten reading SyFy and BBC's 'press stuff', was that BBC started upping the licensing fees required for SyFy to run the seasons--in addition they'd add a caveat that SyFy had to air their episodes a month after they aired on BBC America.

i remember they kept pushing the next upcoming episode, T-Rex on a coconut safari i believe, and then the night came and something else was on. if i remember correctly it was
like 2-3 episodes before the finale was supposed to happen. then again, too much LDS in the 60's and all, i could be mistaken.

Honestly, I stopped watching Primeval around that time because it and Torchwood were monumentally wacky/boring.

My girlfriend was telling me about a new show on TNT called Falling Skies.. alien invasion kind of show. the previews looked cool with all the CGI, but I'm sure it will end up like all the others with special effects in the first 3 or 4 episodes and then the rest is all low tech about people trying to survive, then more effects for the finale. I give it 2 seasons tops.
There's some kinda Torchwood show coming to Starz too, not familiar with it but isn't it a UK show about aliens? Or is it like the event where it's about aliens, but it's a mystery like Lost? I think people are sick of mystery shows where they don't tell you anything, just string you along till you get bored and stop watching...

I saw a few episodes of the First Season. It goes from "kinda cool" to "what else is on" pretty fast.
The Wife and I did get a big kick out of making fun of the commercial where guy says its "a ripp in SPayes an Timmme!"

Also, what I call low scifi as seen in Eureka (lots of tech, but its all grounded by Carter/ Jo), and to some extent Warehouse 13. Automatically Appended Next Post: Kanluwen wrote:Honestly, I stopped watching Primeval around that time because it and Torchwood were monumentally wacky/boring.
Torchwood is awesome because its very clearly European. Could you imagine Harkness playing the lead in an American show?

While TV sci-fi has gone down the tubes (excuse me, "waste chute"), video game sci fi has certainly picked up. Sure, there are still some games of "there are bad aliens. Go shoot them, Mr. superhuman", but many others explore a rich universe. I know that the Fallout post-apocalyptic 1950's style world was created in the 90's, but I loved Fallout 3. Mass Effect is, well, massive, and there's much to explore and enjoy. I've heard good reviews about that online MMO, EVE Online.
