Anyways these are awesome! Never expected it to be cosplayers from China though(I mean Warhammer 40k is not even that well known throughout Asia outside of Japan, even in Korea where the poser game Starcraft is considered a national sport)

actually there are at least hundreds of core players (who has mini armies) in china with more and more dawn of war series players too
there are already dozens of independent retail store of GW miniatures in china and there will be one official in july

btw, china's warhammer fans almost make blame wars with china's blizzard fans every day, especially dawn of war fans

I just find it hard to believe that anyone in China would be able to find so many 40K enthusiasts including so many girls, and motivate them to the effort needed to make all those costumes and learn the songs, choreography, and so on.

they are just some college students, and some of them just graduate from colleges. the eldest among them are just 25 years old
they use one whole year's spare time to make all costumes, with all cost paid by themselves. their group leader, the one with lightning claws, started to make plan of this event before five years

now they are all out of money, some of them maybe cannot afford train tickets to shanghai's china joy national finals
those girls are mostly those boys' girlfriends, college classmates or friends in cosplay groups

Do the members also play 40k? Or just Dawn of War?

Does Beijing still have a couple of shops?

That's some epic costume work. I like the Cannoness the best. The termie with Lightning claws in a close second.

Well done...though the singing is unnerving and Lelith seems out of place.

Those are some of the best costumes that I've seen but I did appreciate the aforementioned Black Templars as well as Finnlock's work shown here on Dakka:

Hopefully they'll get to the finals and win.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

OK, this is going to sound totally crazy but what the heck.

Have you tried contacting the British Council, they're a British government agency based in Beijing whose whole job is to promote UK culture in China.

It's a long shot but with the right pitch (this will get news coverage, it will promote a popular line of British games/video games/movies) and the request is modest it could just work.
