Trollbloods in SPAAAAAAAACE? Also in the future? I'm sold.

Warmachine started with starter packs for the 4 major fractions. The RPG books came much later.

If I remember my facts correctly, PP's first releases were the witchfire trilogy.

You recall correctly.

The Longest Night(Witchfire book 1) was released in 2001.

Warmachine Prime wasn't released until 2003.

Such an exciting year, everyone is stepping up the game when GW messes up.

Doubt it has anything to do with GW's actions. Privateer tends not to announce a damn thing until it's been in development for at least a couple years. Hell, they were dropping teasers for Hordes in Escalation (warbeast started showing up on cards about then), and had been planning to do something with those factions since Prime hit the shelves. There's a decent chance that this is book number 3 for their 2011 release schedule, given that we still don't have anything on the IKRPG reboot.

Released Gencon 2012. They announced that, too.

I'm from the future. The future of space

It's also designed to let you start play as a warcaster/warlock level character right from the beginning.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

If it's like Warmachine I'll be looking forward to it.

If it's like Monsterocalypse collectable mini game, I'll ignore it completely.

Technically, MonPoc isn't collectable anymore (or at least won't be shortly). Still, while I'd like it to be similar to WM/H in some regards, I think I'd much prefer a unique game.

I also don't think it's a blood in the water thing. That just feeds into GWs "We Are Everything!" attitude that someone else couldn't do a Scifi game without it being copying them.

Well, yes and no. Whilst SciFi skirmish games are ten a penny, something on the equivelant scale of 40k does not really exist right now. People like the scale level of 40k but there are simple no alternatives if you want to play a SciFi game of that size.

GW are not the be all and end all, far from it. But you cannot deny that at this present time 40k is unique in the fact it's more or less the only squad level SciFi game out there.

I agree completely. I could get into "future warmachine" or even a completely new universe. However, I have no interest in Monsterpocalypse. I also dont see where it would be made into a WM or 40k style game without being absolutely terrible.

Too bad they made the announcement a full year before the estimated release. Could be another 6 months before we even get another teaser.

Theres actually several systems out there, but they dont have the same level of support. They are from much smaller companies and many depend on you providing the minis.

That being said, Im sure GW is greatly happy that there are people out there who believe 40k is the only game around.

Try checking out these if youd like to examine 40k alternatives:

Shockforce/Warengine (free download) http://warengine.darktortoise.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

Stargrunt (Ground Zero games, free download) http://www.groundzerogames.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=97&Itemid=50

There are many more...google search terms like "28mm scifi minitures game" or "generic miniatures game".
