Finished up the Leman Russ. Also a shot of the army to date. Im leaning towards 2 more Leman Russ, a Manticore, a 3rd Infantry Platoon, and 3 Veteran Squads. Maybe a Psycher Batttle Squad. It really depends on how long I have to wait for Necrons. Assuming there will be Necrons with the brilliant new GW marketing strategy. Dont get me wrong though, not a trip to GW went by without me hearing tons of guys talking about how awesome a stand alone pirate game would be. As far as the base itself, Fail. I have tried a bunch of stuff and just cant get it to work. I think Im just not as interested in building terrain as I thought.

Its been slow going this week. I am trying to taylor parts of the army to accomplish a specific task. Namely the Stormtroopers and Scout Sentinels supporting each other. If I am reading the rules right, both these units can almost turn a flank. Throw in a scoring unit and you have a pretty good force that must be dealt with. So I added the only IG unit I could find to fill the bill, the Catachan Devils. Harker is in the mail and these boys have the obligatory plasma guns. All my vet squads will have them. I loaded them with as many bits as I could to convey a "long range patrol" look. They turned out ok, but I need to work on skin. I have 3 more to do, but you get the idea.

It's always nice when you stumble across a thread and the first few posts just catch you. I don't why some do and others don't but this one really did!

I've just looked through (and read most) of all 3 pages and I liked the first scheme and when I read you were redoing, I was like "MY GOD THIS GUYS NUTS!" but then you posted new pics and I was like "PHEW! HE NAILED IT, NOT QUITE NUTS AFTER ALL".

Anyway, what i'm getting at, is well done for a job well done! It's nice to see a noticeable improvement from one post to the next. The second camo is far better than the original. Also, big kudos for putting all the extra pouches, grenades and gubbins on most of your men. So many people (inc myself) just don't usually bother.

Well, its been a while since the last update. My Rangers appear poised to choke away a second consecutive World Series, so I figure I would post some pics. Took a while for my Ebay stuff to get here but it was a real haul. Im almost finished with the 3rd infantry platoon. Took the Lascannons off the bike bases and put them on 60mm. They didnt look as good in the squads as I had hoped. In fact it looked crappy. The Baneblade is all done, the only other tank I have to finish is the 2nd Hellhound. I figure they can support the other 2 infantry platoons, freeing up the Leman Russ tanks to do whatever. Still need a couple more guys in the command squad and finishing touches on the 3rd vet squad, then its on to Necrons.

@dsteingass: Thanks man, I love Baneblades. No IG army is complete without one. My next IG project down the road is going to have a Shadowsword.

So I finished up the infantry. I have a full company of 3 platoons, 3 veteran squads, snipers, and stormtroopers. I took some pics just because I think its cool to see a giant infantry force. Ill post up the armor and full army shot tomorrow. Since Im done with the army, its time to unload them. Im going to put them up in the Swap Shop first. I figured out ebay stores usually buy my armies then break them up for resale. Kinda a bummer.

Well, I decided why wait till tomorrow what you can do today. Here is the armor and army shot. I really enjoyed making these guys, I feel like I finally got the guard right. So they are going up on the swap shop today if anyone is interested. Thanks to everyone who left comments.

Can you tell me how you did the skin on the dude with the binoculars? It's exactly the skintone I want to do on my bare headed marines!

Dood!.OMG, That is one of the best looking guard armies I have ever seen! and I have seen quite a few! I really admire your determination and drive towards this...Holy Grail of Guard-player's wet dreams...A Painted Army! And you have certainly raised the bar to absolutely Gorgeously painted Army!
Your pride in your work is noticed and appreciated! I can only wish for that, terain is more my bag.
