Yes! Eternal glory to the Architect of Fate! the problem is, nobody trusts him, not even Kairos, foremost among the lords of change. Whatever! I'm on the winning team, I'm just going to do what he says and hope it isn't in his plans for me to die. Simple!

Somewhere in the Warp, with a psychotic dreadnaught and an overzealous sorcerer to deal with...

Coming from a Chaos supporter I think that the Chaos Gods can get along, but only if they all have something to aim for that benifits each of them. The reason that Chaos hasn't already banded together like in the Horus Heresy is the same reason why all the respective Ork Klans won't join up into one massive WAAAARGH, because there isn't a Warboss big enough to take command. Abbadon is close, but nowhere near as good as Horus and besides, the Alpha Legion, Red Corsairs and Night Lords are doing fine with their terror attacks, throw in some Tyranid Hive Fleets for distraction and if Angron gets off his arse we can have another Dominion of Fire. Sorted.

"We are the Knights Temporal, scum, we have cleansed entire worlds of your filthy cults and liberated many minds from their sway towards the Endarkened Powers..."
"Oh? Ever seen a dreadnaught rip a Trygon's head off? Ever seen a chaplain scream someone to death? Ever seen as many Raptors baying for Imperialist blood? We are the Spirits of Cyron, and the only pleas for death will be your own!"

If you think about it, Abaddon isn't that far off and has achieved a fair amount, 13 times he has united the forces of Chaos under his banner. Reading 'Blood Reaver' you see that some of the Chaos dudes do actually think that he is the man that will cast the Emperor down. The Chaos Gods have a great plan for Abaddon in the material world and that's why he hasn't been granted or embraced Daemonhood yet.

With Cadia in his hands he can move onto the the biggest prize of them all now, Terra. He just has to blow Admiral Quarren out of the sky.

If you killed Tzeentch it would be apart of his scheme, every eventuality is known to him. I had a little idea that killing Tzeentch would lead to the deaths of the other 3 Gods which would then cause a new God to be born, which would be all four combined and unite Chaos under one master.

The chaos powers exist to sow CHAOS, to directly destroy and conquer would be counter productive, taking their time, drawing things out, whispering into the dark, starting rumors and such that will cause an up roar in some part of the galaxy. The only thing stopping the 4 chaos powers from truly ruling the galaxy and countless others is there own sinister game...and the remaining primarchs.

Ok, in the way of getting to Terra, if that has been his goal for any of the Black Crusades, sure, he hasn't done so good. But what if his goals have been to sow fear and show the Imperium what he is capable of? Abaddon has a pretty infinite amount of time to get to Terra, he's getting all of his eggs in a basket before he goes all out.

First Black Crusade he gets Drach'nyen, the 12th he gets the Blackstones and the 13th he gets a foothold on Cadia. He has made some booboo's on the way, but I wouldn't count these as entire failures.

Nurgle has been around the longest, sisnce dieses and life first started, then khorne in the Medieval, then Tzeentch when the first psykers appeared, then slaanesh in the universal orgy,as you put it.

It clearly states in the csm codex that khorne was the first of the four great gods of chaos to "awaken".

The person saying this is a chaos lord, NOT an ork

RoC: Lost and the Damned

Khorne was the first of the Great powers to wake fully, and an era of wars and conflict raged across the globe. Tzeentch was the next, and nations and politics grew to adulthood with all of their implicit intrigues and double dealings. Nurgle was the third to awake and plagues swept across continents claiming many souls for the Lord of Decay.

I love how the War in Heaven didn't create Chaos gods and yet the minor violence, scheming and disease of a tiny planet with a tiny population did.

Ah but it did my friend

When the first intelligent races developed, their individual and extremely potent minds filled the warp with new and very powerful energies.

These disharmonious forces eventually became the Chaos Powers, psychic entities created from the fears, repressions and inadequacies of humans and other intelligent species.

I think that Nurgle first started to come into being when the Eldar become no longer immortal after the showdown between the Nighaunter and Khaine

Dawn of the C'tan
Kaelis Ra cannot truly die, for it is death incarnate. Raging at its defeat, its quintessence howled throughout space, entering every one of the Eldar race and cursing them with the terror of the grave. Thus it was that the seed of the Eldar's downfall was sown, and ultimately, the way of reincarnation was closed to them forever.

I think the war in heaven was one of the big things that started to create the gods, but the emotions and ambitions of men that actually moulded the Chaos Gods to what they are today.

Apart from Slaanesh, that was all the Eldars work

It wasn't just the events on earth that woke them up, other races were feeding them slowly too, that quote is just noting that when they woke up all those things began to get much worse. It doesn't say Nurgle awoke because plagues spread, it says he awoke then they spread. Same for all the other examples.
