I think one thing everyone can agree with is that Nutella is phenomenal.

Aye, even I like that stuff and normally I avoid all sweet spreads like jam etc on ma toast.

Nutella is especially excellent on croissant and/or brioche.

EDIT - Cadbury's do a chocolate spread that beats Nutella.

Speaking of which, it seems like a lot of Americans dislike Nutella. IMO, I think its because as children most Americans are given peanut butter, and are thus accustomed to a different flavor profile... personally I love Nutella... yumm

Unless Nutella is made of yeast and tastes like algae mixed with toe-jam and urine, then no, they are nothing alike.

They're still nothing alike.

Nutella is wonderful deliciousness, and I think that Cheesecat summed up my opinion of vegemite quite nicely.

My description was an exaggeration it isn't as bad as diarrhea but it isn't much better either, I think Dogma nailed when he described it like tar and salt that's what it reminds me of at least. I can't understand why

I LOVE vegimite.
I grew up with it.
I grew up with Australian Noodle soups.
I grew up with eating multitudes of foods. And I am an Australian so no surprise for a while i thought Vegemite was made out of Snake. I was fine with that tbh.
Though I have had snake meat before that was interesting.

But thats just me. I love most foods. But i hate many american foods.

Well, I'm American and I love nutella, hate American cheese, and have never had either vegemite or marmite and will probably never try them.

An Aussie posting here.

Tried it once...gagged, swore some, then chucked the rest in the trash... that pretty much covers my vegemite experience.
..Concentrated spreadable evil in a jar.

Edit:..What struck me as funny was when I tried it ( and hated it), I was told by my friend ( who insisted I try it in the first place) that " obviously my palate had not matured enough to enjoy it.."...
I replied by telling her that I would prefer my palate continue to laugh at fart jokes than ever have it reach a level when what I'd just ( briefly) had in my mouth could be considered edible.

AMERICAN CHEESE IS DISGUSTING!!!! It tastes like old socks and plastic and barf and mold.

You have to use it right, at least if the target of your food doesn't hate said cheese. It melts very well, for example.

"American cheese" refers to only one kind of cheese, a very highly processed crap that even in the US can't actually be called cheese, it has to be called a cheese product.

True American cheeses are referred to by their names, IE, Colby, Monterey Jack, Bergenost, or Maytag Blue.
