The innovation here is obvious. Normally we see cleavage, this is now bringing us into the realm of the bewb underside. Some may argue that this is merely a logical progression, while others will point out that "heh, heh, bewbs."

I, for one, agree.

Fantasy artists and sculptors have been putting upside-down bras on women for quite some time now. Bugs the crap out of me because while, yeah, bewbs! and all, the moment she moves they're going to be dropping out the bottom of it.

I mean, I'm all for impractical fantasy garb, but clothing that looks like it wouldn't allow the wearer to actually move belongs on characters who have no need to move. If you want your warrior women to wind up running around with boobs akimbo, just leave the top off entirely and be done with it.

Yup, that's right up there with combining the stereotypical chainmail bikini with heavy plate armour on the legs, for me. Feth, there's a reason leg armour is basically the first thing you'd leave out of any kind of armour suit... it's basically about as silly as what you just described

Anyone heard anything else about this game at all?

Bummer, I was hoping there was a development

I was hoping there was a development on the game myself. He did put up a picture of the first dragon he has made for the range.

Nice!

What's up with the dust-models URL etc? Did this guy 'create' dust tactics etc and then let FFG continue the line? I tried to google a bit but it's still somewhat muddy... sorry if I'm asking for stuff I really should have found on my own

The line...belongs, I believe, to Paolo and FFG licenses and publishes it.

I imag e the relationship is similar to how Pixar and Disney operate.

...Ah, thanks. That was everything but obvious
I get the impression a lot of these Anastyr models look a hell of a lot better than many Dust models do. Is it just that this is a higher-spec game, or is it the production process, or am I mistaken about the quality of Dust minis? It seemed to me they're more in the "plastic soldiers at the toy store" category, or perhaps DnD prepaints etc. than your average modern wargaming mini?

Oh, the dust models are actually pretty darn nice and their "pre-paints" are very well done. They're easily TTQ+. The resin Dust models are quite nice.

Is say your basic Dust troop models are just a shade lower quality than GW Cadians, but some of the newer models and elite troops are really, really well done. They're much closer to GW/Privateer quality than D&D

Okay, thanks. Base game is on the to order list right after I get into infinity, then. That suddenly makes the prices sound quite good. (and yes I'll stop discussing the other game here now )

Naw, I'm sure he wouldn't mind :-). Honestly, dust tactics is a huge blast. Also, ordering from the Dust online store is really easy and shipping is quite fast. I've never been anything but pleased with my orders.

...yeah, I'm not sure ordering across the pond would be such a good idea, though. probably off cheaper getting it through a local stockist well, It's basically a board game ++ in looks, isn't it? that would make it easier getting some non gamer friends to play.

The problem with that is that all of the stuff on the Dust online store is only available from the online store. Paolo created the game and has licensed parts to FFG for global distribution, but he still creates some new items exclusively for his website... the prepainted versions are also only really available through him afaik

..Ah, didn't get that part!
Okay, one question remaining then: the models only available through that store (don't care much for the prepaints, I like painting my own stuff ) - are they 'legal' in the regular game? is it something GW/FW like in setup?

The non-prepaint items bought from the online store are not usable in tournaments, they are for friendly games or collectors as the cards (if they even come with them) don't include points values.

Some of the items are slowly working their way over into the main FFG boxes, such as Panzerprinz who is supposed to be in the next Dust Tactics expansion (whatever that may be).
