My apologies if this has been posted previously, but as the search is currently down and there's nothing in the Gencon threads that I could see...

It appears that Paolo Parente of Dust fame is also working on a Fantasy system for next year some time called Anastyr. A few photos of miniatures and concept art surfaced on the Dust Tactics Facebook group this morning care of Radio Dust. Apparently these models and concepts were sharing a cabinet with Legacy's re-released Confrontation figures (hence the Dwarf chariot in the background) and while they look a bit Drune-is... they apparently aren't.

I really like the orc/goblin things and the warriors on foot. The horses look a little too static to me, but they should all make really nice display models

Pictures are reposted here for the work-blocked.

Nice sculpts and I like the look of them. I would say they have enough of their own flavor to take them out of the generic category.

Even if I didn't like what I see here, I'd still buy anything Parente makes. I mean, that guy took the time to write to me about a conversion of a Dust walker I did ages ago and ask if he could make a conversion kit to match the look. If that kind of attitude isn't worth supporting, nothing in this industry is.

I saw these up close and personal at Gen Con. Depending on price, I would have bought all of them. The 2 orcs were fabulous and full of character IMO.

Did he sculpt for Rackham? Some of these minis remind me of those.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Don't know if he sculpted but he did a crap ton of their artwork. Notice how AT-43 and dust look similar?

Paolo is an illustrator, and a damn good one. He probably hired people doing stuff for Rackham as freelancers for this project.

I love those trolls and will buy them as soon as they are available. Terrific work.

Giant weapons on otherwise excellent figures makes me sad. Reminds me of the Keltos line. Great figs except for the 200 pound swords.
GW weapons are ridiculously large. Sculpts that try to "go them one better" just wind up looking REALLY silly.

If Dust is any indication I'm sure this will be a great game with great models too.

Very " High Art ". I love Parente's art and the figures are beautiful. The theme just doesn't do it for me though.

I disagree. These are anything but generic. They are probably among the best examples of "expressive sculpting" I can think of. The orc/trolls especially. That guy with the anchor-sword is pretty expressive too. I'm not sure about their female minis. Kinda odd that their concept art revolves around scanty-clad underboob-exposing armor and then their only photos of finished miniatures of that persuasion aren't very clear. Makes me think of a car company that bought a lot of magazine ads to hype their new line of sports cars and then their first commercial features an SUV.

As others have noted, the armor on the ladies is kinda silly. But I don't care because: A) The proportions appear reasonable, and B) it fits the rest of the line.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Nifty, but there's no real "hook" for me so far. It's Yet Another Fantasy Setting at the moment.

So far so good - but a lot will depend upon what kind of game this is - Skirmish? Mass battle? Something in between?

Loving the look of them so far though!

Who needs armour if the power of double Ds will protect you.

Seriously though, I like the initial line of work. The trolls are pretty fab.

They have a very Hyborian Age fantasy feel to them. Very nice contrast to Games Workshop's Renaissance Fantasy feel. I dig 'em.

Hey endtransmission, thanx for reposting the data from the blog.

I agree on the minis being very original, heroic type fantasy settings do not abound, or are not really up to it, in my opinion. Also I really like the proto-celtic style of weapons and armour, reminds me of Slayne, wich I understand PP has illustrated in the past (he also did Conan I think).
I´m not big fan of oversized weapons, something I dislike from GW, but in these case they seem in line with the characters, pretty much out of a comic book.

In my opinion, the game seems to be of the skirmish type, miniatures look very detailed and probably expensive, so logically it will be a few and powerful minis each side, rather than squads of hot pin-up warrioresses.
Also the girl with black hair has some spliffy magic coming out of her hands, I´d dare say special abilities and powers will play big role in the game.

Now about real information, I asked the DG team wether this game was going to use the "Tiles & Squares" system from Dust Tactics, and they replied it´s still too early in develpoment, no ruleset being designed yet.

I second the comment on some of users in this thread about PP being a great guy and having excellent response to his fans, and I would like to extend the compliment to the rest of DG team.

I´m not going to delve on the disfunctional nature of barely covering armour, cause it simply pales next to the awesomeness of underboob...

but that´s my humble opinion

Eh, I'll pass. DUST is cool (walking tanks!!!) but the world is full enough of fantasy settings with orcs, etc. I think...
