because generally speaking, they are larger than 40 tons... They have more armor than what we're talking about. There are of course, a couple spots in a tank or striker that a .50cal round could penetrate, but those are extremely hard to hit.
Spray and pray isn't any more precise, but who knows.. If you waste enough extremely expensive ammo you might get lucky.

I picture them sounding like a Javelin. A fairly loud sound on launch, then a second after it leaves a barrel, it makes a solid BOOM when the second stage kicks in.
