I havew faced quite a few Ork and Foot Eldar lists lately that made me re-evaluate flamers. I added a couple to my troops (CSM) and things improved a lot.

Remember that flamers ignore cover saves. That can mean a lot when you are fighting orks under a KFF or eldar guardian mobs with a warlock concealing them. Even for MEQ armies, they can be a nuisance: models are usually very bunched up after they get off a wrecked vehicle. Get a flamer in range just then and you have 7-9 hits from a single weapon! With that volume, even 2+ saves will fail once or twice.

Generally speaking, however, you will not often be in the optimal range for flamers many times in a game. So a combi-flamer is a good deal.

All of the above does not even take into account Vulkan's re-reolling bonus, which just makes them more valuable. I'd go with MM/HF Land speeders, maybe a few MM attack bikes to help vehicles too, and at least one combi-flamer or flamers in each tac squad to roast the passengers and make CC pretty much always swing in your favor. Just stay away from the Avatar of Khaine!

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

Avatar of Khaine basically nerfs Vulkan. He negates his biggest asset, and will be a challenge for even Hammernators if properly supported.

Like I said in that other thread, I am going to make my own list and see what you guys think (if I can).
