Odd. The pics of the Fantasy one do indeed seem to be 10x4, and the picture seems to show thinner foam walls, whilst the 40k is still 9x4. The Fantasy case still lists 108 models though (rather than the 120 you'd expect).

As to the other products... the brush set in particular does seem to be enormously overpriced in AUD, but it did make me go out ant buy a $2 pencil tin for my brushes. The Eavy Metal Masterclass book: considering it is reprinted content, I'd pay maybe the price of a single White Dwarf for it. Not 50 freaking dollars.
The dice as always are decent enough value. Ima get me some blue ones to match my army.

That's got to be one of the most awkward poses to paint, legs joined, jiggling with paint pots and water on your lap, no support for your arms and back and in the middle of all that mess try to paint fine detailed minis... one fart, hiccup, sneeze and you will have a room full of paints

I just threw up in my mouth a little when I saw the cost of those brushes.

Are they really that much better then standard GW brushes? I kinda like that if I have to answer the phone of something and loose track of time and ruin a brush by leaving it "loaded" I can just say oh well there goes 7 bucks and get another.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

Clearly the brushes are made from the sable-like pubes of the Eavy Metal painters. Individually plucked with tweezers and each brush is handcrafted lovinging by a midget craftsman, certainly that justifies the price right?

If they really are Winsor Newton Series 7's, that's an undeniable yes. It's really something you need to try to appreciate. And for the price, it's pretty normal Australian retail price for a pair of Series 7's and some extras.

That's why I said if. There was talk earlier that they were rebadged Series 7's. If that's the case, then at least the Australian price is basically normal retail price at any other art supply shop. $70au for the 2 brushes (that size is usually around $30au-$35au) leaving $13au for the two pots of medium, the masterclass booklet and the tin. Pretty standard non-GW fare.

This all hinges around them being Series 7's, as said, which we don't know, and obviously only comparing to other Australian retail, since obviously buying online from the US or UK is going to see a 50% price decrease.

Ya.... Im just curious to where people are getting the info from.

Or is it just some sort of fans attempting to justify the price out of thin air.

I find it silly myself, but have friends that swear by it. They also sit in recliners for 5 hours a night never moving while they watch TV, paint, and roots come out of their butt and burrow into the ground. If we didn't chop them free once a week and make them come down to the shop to game, they might never move from those recliners.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

No they didn't. I just counted in the picture. Its still 9x4.

Try re-counting again:

And if you read it, it says "On one side of the case the soft foam inserts have ready-cut slots to securely hold 108 individual miniatures."

So by the description, they're still 9x4. So either the description is wrong (likely, as they probably copy/pasted it from the normal case page) or the photo isn't using the normal trays.

I'm using the KR 4x10 inserts at the moment, they're deeper too which i'm loving. It is rather strange the WHFG case has an incorrect description not in line with the picture. With the 120 slots version, would that be too narrow for 40k sized models?

The only thing I'm interested in their are the multi-coloured dice set. Red for Melta, Green for Plasma etc

Edit: From the blog commentary they actually say they redesigned the trays, so maybe the 40k is using the wrong ones...

The two Custom Figure Cases genuinely surprised us here in the office. For years we've become accustomed to how the foam trays inside are laid out, but in these cases it's all changed!
The three foam trays that hold the miniatures have been re-designed and are now ten models wide, which means you can now fit 120 individual models into your case.
Huzzah! There's even a row of slightly taller slots for those models that insist on carrying their weapons high in the air.

Wow it took them this many years to realise 4x10 is much practical than 4x9. Wait, this is GW I'm talking about

The description is wrong. As posted by Artanis, the blog says 120 and you can count the slots in the picture. Definitely 10x4.

Let me "white knight" here for a sec.

You're looking at this all wrong, guys. Price out the cost of all those White Dwarf magazines. Now price out the cost of the Master Class book. Now consider that you get the painting articles you want without the GW advertisements you likely don't want. According to my math, the only way the Master Class book is a bad deal is if you were one of those foo-, er, I mean loyal followers who subscribed to the White Dwarf the past few years. I suppose it could also be a bad deal if you're already a master class painter but that probably doesn't apply to most of us.

The last release of the paint set was by far my favorite. These on the other hand are on the okay side.

Painting 'Eavy Meatle looks good for people just starting the hobby on hoe to paint more than three colors.

Cases look fine. I like the GW cases they are nice though my battlefoam caries more of what I need. and that is the problem with these cases they don't carry enough.

The paintbrush set is just a waste of money. PERIOD.

I do on the other hand like the idea of the paint station. It seems nice to have the two water pots in a secured location and the two paint mixing stations as well as hold the paints i need to go at all on my lap. The best IMO is the cutting mat so I can model my minis on the same lap desk. Seems like I may buy this one.

Sad that the tuffs of grass didn't make the cut (lol pun). I would buy a sheet of them.

I think the Book is a good idea, saves me having to buy the advertising mag every month where the only half decent article in there is the painting one.

The other thing, quite simply, is that these aren't White Dwarfs for one year alone.
We're looking at content from over three years. If you were to try to hunt down those specific White Dwarfs I'd imagine it might be kind of irksome.

I didn't realize what the book was at first when I saw it on Advanced Order. I thought it was just pictures of other peoples work. A how to book wouldn't be too bad to have. If anything it'll make a great coffee table or bedside table book... or bathroom reading.

The brushes look tempting. I love brushes. And I do need to replace some worn out ones.

The painting station is a neat idea... but I don't think I'll be painting anywhere other than my desk. If I'm at the couch it'll be because I'm reading a book.

I'm not sure they went with the color choices they did for the cases. They seem kind of odd. At least it should be the other way around... Warhammer=brown, Warhammer 40,000=green.

Any confirmation on if they're the same exact articles? Like maybe these could be the extended versions of. Either way I pick up the GW how to books every so often. While I find that I get way more info from sites on the web (looking at you Les APJ.com) I do tend to get inspired from the GWH2's. $30 is about 3 and a half issues of WD, which I haven't purchased in about 2 years now, and all of the articles are all in one place. Add in that you can usually find all of this stuff at-25% online and we're talking about a wopping $22.50, I spent more than that the last time I went to a movie. It's not badly priced, and as long as it hasn't been confirmed to be absolute crap I don't mind taking the chance.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!
