It doesn't remotely make up for the fact they cost 300% more than most of their counterparts. Eye of the Gods doesn't give them double wounds and double attacks, which is about what it would need to do to make them cost-effective compared to their peers. If you gave them every single attribute in the EotG to start the combat they would still be worse than generic WoC per cost. They cost 45. EoTG doesn't change that. I like trolls as much as the next dude, but they're overpriced. Which is why O&G cut their costs by nearly a third.

If I could cheery pick a core choice and take it in any army, I'd have to choose:

Gnoblars.

For 25 points, gnoblars show up with a speed bump that doesn't panic anything else. For 200 points you can layer 8 units of gnoblars and stall a whole flank for a really long time.

My gnoblars have hosed marauders hordes. I march up and wheel, take the charge and break, and force a pursuit/over-run off at a 45 degree or steeper angle. It leaves the flank wide open for punishment.
Must pursue is the weakness of khorne, and nothing exploits that like a 25 point panic nobody unit.
Oh, and marauders never kill them all; I run the gnoblars 2 wide and 5 deep; marauders don't get enough attacks to kill them all. That means I even have a chance to get away and rally; you might not even get those 25 points.

Matt is on to something with those gnoblars I've seen a unit of them kill more than their fair share of "better" units.
