Looking good and loving the top (yes half the time I comment about the videos it is talking about your awesome wardrobe)
And the treekin are nice too
On a more serious note did you ever get the list help you seek as I can get you some notes from the woodelf players in my local tournament scene next week if you want. He constantly scores in the top 3, so he is no slouch

Great video, I actually laughed out loud at some of those faces you made when looking through the bits you got. I like the condensed speed of the video combined with the music overlay, getting quite professional now eh? I also really like the idea of the hero of the week, I should have saved my face tutorial for that instead
To answer your question regarding the most difficult model to assemble? Mine has to be the old Metal Chaos Lord of Change. If anyone out there has put this guy together I'm sure they would agree with me, I made one for my younger brother about 4 months ago and neglected to take any pictures but if he ever comes around again I will.
I have a question for you now. How did you find working with the fine cast resin?

Another great installment. Though we really need to get you something more surgical for cutting, and possibly upgrade your super glue. I couldn't see the glue in the video but if it's hardware store bargain bin it's probably not going to do the job, doubly so with plastic glue. Retractable Stanley knives are great for laying carpet and opening boxes but aren't much use otherwise. For simplicity i'd suggest getting the Games Workshop hobby knife. It's one of the few tools they sell that is arguably as high a quality as you'd get anywhere else and the price isn't insane. You also get a tonne of replacement blades so you won't be rushing out to get more at the first sign of trouble. Careful though, these things are damn near medical so you can slice yourself up pretty easily. I can't comment without applauding you on the awesome choice of music. Mitchell and Webb are two of the funniest guys on tv, David Mitchel being top 3 and Robert being top 10. "On a lonely planet, spinning it's way to damnation, amid the fear and despair of a broken human race, who is left to fight for all that is good and pure and gets you smashed for under a fiver? Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken Caesar!" My favourite. A rat's anus?! As for models that are a pain to build, some Infinity models like the Tags are supposed to be a really difficult but i haven't tried them yet. Wait until you get into converting miniatures, then building them will become pure joy.

I know I really must invest in some better equipment; I was going to but I bought treekin instead
I had to stop filming the whole building of it because it went on for so long but I did fit in the filing and cutting.
I love David Mitchell! He's so witty and sharp I could listen to him angrily rant all day. I love Robert's Sir Digby Chicken Caesar it just seemed like the appropriate music to use!
@ Knightley... Sod doing that model! I googled choas lord of change and I instantly felt bad for you- one post said something about drilling the staff? Looks like a fassle.
@Johnny Crass- it's my favourite top of all time- but it's falling apart now- will never find a replica in camden market :( and I thank you for your excellent taste

Wow- sod that. Looks painfully annoying to me- excellent beard though!
Thinking about the colour scheme I want for them- I will convert them with left over dryad bits and bobs and make them look a bit grander.

Love the fact your already thinking about converting - very advanced for a new player/modeller. Go for it! everything can be improved with knives and glue!
Don't worry yourself with pinning - I pin every joint but I mostly work in metal, you shouldn't have a problem with plastic or resin.

Not at all, your doing something really cool that none of us have seen before, you've also got a unique veiwpoint which makes it even more special. You deserve all the praise you get!
Haha, models are more fun than tools any day so i can't argue with your choice of buy! Consider tools for your next purchases though. I think everyone here will agree that the correct tools make the hobby completely different. It's easier, you get better results and i'd go as far to say it's more enjoyable!
Mitchell is a kindred spirit of mine, i love that he cares enough to verbally destroy people, most of us just try and ignore them.

That's made me think actually, i believe i said earlier not to get involved with conversions yet until you get the basics under control, i think i should retract the statement though. Conversions got me into this hobby and have been the bread and butter of it, for me, since the second box of models i got my hands on. I know now, looking back, that my first attempts, as a ten year old child, were horrific but i was ten and i had to start somewhere. With that in mind, Joey, if an idea for a conversion takes hold then you should jump in at the deep end and see what you can do. If things go a bit wrong then we are here to help guide you back on route.

As for knives; it may be useful to pop into a local arts & crafts store [one that students would perhaps use]. I picked up a pair of hobby knives for 85p each. Blade is no different to any other knife, simply that it came with a plastic handle.

Hobby/Art supply shops should always be your first stop. Though i quite like the comfort value of the GW knife and it comes with 10/15blades if i remember correctly. In the past i've used all manner of blades. I have grown a strong dislike for retractables recently but everything else has been good. Stanley knives are normally a bit clumsy, even the small ones but they do some jobs well. If your going to be cutting very precisely or large areas then get a jewelers or razer saw too.

Not really much to knives, just make sure they're sharp, easy to handle and you keep all your fingers!
I would suggest getting something easier to use than your stanley knife(box cutter).

I'm off work tomorrow so I'll have a look at some extra tools- my first model I just filed off the moulding lines but I ended up getting weird groves by not doing it right so I knife makes more sense... but I'm also tragically clumsy fingers crossed :S (If I still have fingers to cross)

When using a knife to remove mould lines you want a scraping action rather than trying to cut. Scrape away from you and you should be fine.
That in mind I don't know a wargamer who hasn't cut themselves - so that's something for you to look forward to - just wait until you start playing about with dremel drills, then the true injury fun begins!

And asrai for wood elf info. Forums are the most helpful thing I've come across when starting up.
It's helped with the video side of things aswell and what direction I should follow while learning the basics of painting constructing, tools I need and so on.
How do I physically keep it up? No idea- I have work today but I'll be checking my phone for updates

Maelstrom and Wayland are independant stockists of hobby products. Both offer a discount price on all stock, usually 10-15% from RRP. Occasionaly, Maelstrom [cannot speak for Wayland] offer extra off.
Maelstrom Games
Wayland Games
I'll say that if you're going to be spending more on this hobby, save yourself a little extra and purchase from one of the above two instead.

I've seen some much nicer Eagle models than GW sell but you wont be allowed to use them in store. I think they are from Reaper... Hmm, no it's not this one... Yes, this is them! This model from cmon is nice too.
As i say Games Workshop, very reasonably, don't let you use other peoples miniatures in their store but if you join a club or get your friends to play then these are great models for eagles.
Any chance of some pictures of your progress?
