My goodness...

Now that is a revelation. I could not have guessed that... ever.

Hmmm, it might be worth pointing out that, that wasn't sarcasm. I'm genuinely surprised but there doesn't appear to be a 'shocked' emote.

Ah, I'm English for the most part. I was born in Germany and lived there till about 5 my mum is also German. Unfortunately I only look like my very English, northern father. I'm naturally blonde though, I used to look very krauty :S
I still speak some German and understand it well- my nan doesn't speak any English at all so I speak to her every week so- I should point out that I talk like yoda these day's all back to front and like a toddler still. Ha the Joeyberry life story for you!

Should probably include some Warhammer in this post some where. I've just painted the foundation layer on my treekin and letting them dry. Will try and add a photo of them of a minute.

Ah, yes, Warhammer. Looking forward to seeing your progress. I'm going to soften up a batch of green stuff for my Tyranids...

Super tired but video is done- Any thoughts on tree names? Also a little unsure if different tree species works on these guys since there is only 3 of them. Might get more it'll look more normal with a larger unit.

Hey Joey,

Another great video, brilliant puns btw, I actually thought you would get to 10 with out an issue.

I really like Mr Mutton Chops as a name for your tree kin, so I'm going to have to start thinking of other names for Mr Beardy.

Tree puns, fantastic painting and a constantly impressive wardrobe! There is no stopping you.

They look fantastic and the sprites are just top notch stuff. With your battle reports will you be doing elm live or frame by frame?

Yay Thanks Johnny!
I think frame by frame because I'll be doing it in Games Workshop because I'm still unsure on most of the rules. They're not so keen on me filming in store because of younger kids that may pop in so I'll just rake photos an take over it.

<Claps respectfully.>

Great video J! You did a great job with the treekin, they look lovely. I like how you incorporated the vine to cover the mold line, for future reference though: GW have just changed the material they cast some models in(Finecast) and they are having some expected teething problems with the casting. One of the likely mistakes they will make is not getting the two sides of the model lined up properly, if you have that problem again, just take the model back and show them, they will replace it no problem. Also, if you open it in the shop it means you don't have to go home and come back to replace it.
Never mind that now though, your treekin look fantastic, i particularly like the colours of your sprites, they show up well against the trees but blend in with the rest of the model simultaneously. Thats no easy task! Congrats!

Well, colour me impressed.

Very nice progress to date. But unfortunately you are carrying on a belief of mine - all woman either go for some sort of elf (my ex immediately went for Dark Elves...) or some sort of horrifying gribbly (friend's ex went for Daemons and another friend of mine squees for Tyranids are adorable...she scares me so).

With regards to purchasing from GW and the like? It's down to personal choice. Most say not to - buy online and so on and so forth - this is all well and fine but it doesn't hurt to support your local GW, particularly if you know the staff and thus know some of the financial standing!

Seconded, i always buy from GW when i can for that reason alone. Actually, more to support the company than a particular store.

You guys are supportive as ever.
@LostSoulCasey'sLaw I did that with the spellsinger (Amber) she had an air bubble in the staff and it was horrible. Not one finecast model I've bought so far hasn't had bubbles or bad joins in it somewhere. Most aren't noticeable though so I'm not worried but the vine I didn't notice until after I was filing so I felt a bit bad to have sent it back. I will check in store in future though.

@DarkStarSabre I know I know- but bear in mind I had no idea what Warhammer was I chose them because they seemed roguish and cool... and pretty. Crap.
It was a toss up between wood elves or tomb kings in fairness- but the battalion box was ten quid cheaper lololol

@Totured-Robot... Nicely done Sir, nicely done.

Sorry for the late reply- I did a cover shift at work. Ruined my painting day!!

Don't feel to bad, it's a big company so they will have made profit deficiency allowances for this period of errors. And the model you return would probably just get binned whether you'd filed it or not. I've bought one finecast model so far and it was 99% perfect, hopefully i stay lucky. Once you get good with green stuff you'll be able to fix most of what you get without much trouble or time.

More shifts at work for you means more models for us to ooh and aah over in the long run.

Bad luck on the finecast. I am on number 8 and they have all been perfect (aside from minute bubbles that you can hardly notice). Also it is a shame you're across the pond as I have a few eagles I would throw your way (I thin my collection by helping new hobbyists).

I was going to go out on a limb and make a few more tree puns but I thought it was best to just leaf it there. After all it is best to bough out when you have the chance!

Johnny- that's really nice of you- not to worry I will get to work and scratch up some monies and get the eagles. Tomorrow is my first actual battle not against a Games workshop staff member but I will be doing it there to get some help from the staff. A kind soul I met there last week challenged me to a battle against his tomb kings. Will do a battle report- sort of.
If I ever come to the states by some miracle I challenge you Johnny!

@Talarn- Thank you, and sorry to your wallet. Truly- this hobby is expensive (as I'm learning) but I'm already fairly emotionally invested in my guys. The damage is done.

I already feel bad when I think of future armies I will chose because it feels a bit like cheating. :S Perhaps I'll go to 40k- then at least it's a different game and my wood elves won't judge me!

I don't think anyone could blame you.

The signature below is proof that I appear to have some sort of ADD.

Is it bad I'm planning Flesh Tearers and a Vampire Count army inspired by the old Zombie Pirate list?

Great stuff The videos themselves looks better too. Following with interrest.

Mutton-chops is my favorite so far!

And here I'm going to walk out on a limb by saying: This hobby is not that expensive... Remember that you use a lot of time building, painting and enjoying your minis. You even get to play with them an infinite number of times! Imagine if other hobbies was like that. You buy a pair of bowling shoes and then you can bowl whenever you like for free? Or how about going to a movie; it lasts 2 hours for how much? I can think of many hobbies that are more expensive than this.

Granted; I can think of many that are less expensive too ...

It'll be less expensive than the 5 or so years of games subscriptions and consoles I've bought over the years I'm sure. It's a valid point. It's just more money in one burst which I guess hits harder than the cost spread over the enjoyed time.
I've had mostly good feed back about the puns- so I'll stick with it

Took about 3 hours though! I put up a fairly good fight. I didn't get get to use my hail of doom arrow because I basically got rear ended by apophas... the swine.

Battle report on the weekend I hope.
