Real Witch Doctors(which still exist in Africa) essentially do homeopathic medicines
Ignoring the contradiction in tems (there's no such thing as a homeopathic "medicine"), my statement is STILL not incorrect.

Everyone who practices homeopathic remedies is a quack snake oil salesman.

Every.

Single.

Fething.

One.

If you say so.

Myself, I'm not going to knock it and condemn them if it's worked for these tribes for as long as it has. I try not to push my belief system on other cultures.

It has nothing to do with belief systems.

Homeopathy does not work. This is objectively true.

Belief systems are completely and utterly irrelevant here.

Sorry, that was actually due my bad phrasing. It's simply what popped into my head and, unlike usual, I didn't look it up to double check that it was the word I wanted to use.

I was incorrectly using homeopathic(I always forget that it does, in fact, mean fake and not what I was trying to convey). What I should(and meant to) have said was they use HERBAL medicines and other traditional healing practices instead of modern medicines.

"Herbal" practices often aren't that muc hbetter, sometimes they're actually worse (homeopathic remedies have no active ingredients, and thus the only harm hey do is not treating the cause/symptoms they were taken for and emptying the wallet-- which is actually a fairly bad thing when you see homeopathic practitioners selling people "homeopathic remedies" for anthrax, cancer, and so on, but I digress).

It's a rather hit and miss practice, really.

I can, but that's because the term doesn't mean what people think it means(it actually refers to a person who protects people from witches and heals afflictions caused by said witches using natural remedies NOT magic). Incidentally, Soladrin, Witch Doctors also have nothing to do with Voodoo, they show up in any and every culture that believes in witches, even Europe in the middle ages.

It's also why I agree that the Witch Doctor should have been named something else like Shaman, Bokor(Voodoo sorceror or priest, which is also what people are actually thinking of when they think Witch Doctor, they're just ignorant of the proper name), or something that traditionally actually uses magic.

I know what real Witch doctors are/were like. I was purely talking about the ones used in games, which more often then not are either vodoo wielders or just another type of shaman.

Overall I'm going to have to agree with Melissia here, Witch Doctor is a corny name, but the class is kinda corny too, and I'd be equally annoyed if they called it Necromancer. It looks far to tribal too fit the dark caster man-in-hooded-robes archetype.

I hope they will add in a proper necromancer later, or something along those lines. I also want a Knight/Paladin.

I'm not at all saying that the Witch Doctor is bad in anyway, just stating personal dislikes.

No Paladin

Then I will be playing a Monk.

Yeah, I don't mind there not being a paladin. But now there doesn't seem to be any class presenting anything closely resembling a knight with a shield.

And barbs with shields are dumb, IMHO.

I'm torn between Demonhunter and Monk, no idea what either of them do but they sound cool....

And paratroperSimon, $300 for a years WoW subscription? I thought it was around £80 which would only be about $150...
