Worst mistake I've seen was done by a buddy playing his BT...

So, he put Grimaldus AND helbrecht into the same landraider, but didnt take Blessed Hull (I only had 1 zoanthrope)... i stationed my lone Flyrant with Paroxysm alongside the Zoan, turn 1, he decides to "ride after me" in his land raider, leaving it wide open. on my first turn, I pop the raider (after some argument about whether he took BH), moved the flyrant up, hit him with paroxysm and proceeded to have a tasty snack of Helbrecht and Grimaldus... Sadly that particular flyrant met his end against the EC, who in turn was killed by a brood of sleeping Genestealers.

One much more recently... before I left Germany, my unit got a new guy in who also plays 40k. So, I have him over at my place, and he borrows my guard army to run against my fledgling nurgle marine army. at 750 points, I failed to take wings on my Daemon Prince.. so he had to walk across the entire board, facing down basilisk and leman russ fire....

He had them equipped with storm shields and 1 lightning claw?

Sounds like he got what he deserved.

15 Bloodletters vs Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought. They couldn't fight back, so then he dogpiled the unit with his Obliterators, Khorne Berzerkers and Possessed, allowing me to wipe out his other units at leisure... however, I tied the game because his Obliterators eventually managed to blow up the Dread on Turn 6!

I made a big boob I had it in my head that my runepriest got a strength bonus so I charged him and some blood Claws against a wraith lord. This tied him up for 3 turns before he legged it off the board. On the plus my dread managed down it the next turn.

Before the Apocalypse game this noob that had quite obviously spent alot of money on his army had tried to talk my army down, A warboss, big mek, 100 gretchin (cannon fodder), 50 boyz, 11 deffcoptas, 3 killa canz.

He only had aobr sm and bought them over and over again selling the Orks. He said " Why do I buy aobr? to sell Orks. Hahahahaha" I replied is a stompa in aobr he realised what I was going to do, take out my STOMPA.

He was using 3 aobr kits. he got his terminators to try take out my STOMPA, so next turn I put my killa kanz and deffcoptas in assault with the termies and I won, 15 terminators dead hahahaha he burst out in a swearing fit and got sent out the gamesworkshop. Now that is the worst tactical mistake..... To get sent out the shop.

Don't Wyches have Plasma Grenades standard? Regardless, going first or last and still losing to Tau in CC is shameful

...Though it's happened to me too

They do now. This was before the new dex lol.

In one of my first games, I rammed a battlewagon (no deffrolla) into an Ironclad Dreadnought. I didn't really know what would happen, and hadn't really read the ramming rules - I just sort of presumed since it was such a big model it would easily crush the dread.

It did not, in fact, crush the dreadnought.

On the next turn, you could almost see the Ironclad point into the bleachers with his seismic hammer, Babe Ruth style, before he opened up a can on the Battlewagon.

I sure hope they make ramming better in 6th.

Slamming into a dread with a wagon should be an exciting affair.

From ramming to tank shock, a constant error/gamble of mine

Allways take a shot at DoG with old one eye (i know he isnt great, but its a quality model for friendly games)

Granted he has worked wonders in the past by blowing up tanks, i just tend to forget about deff roller wagons alot now -_-

In 40k, the biggest tactical mistake I have sceen was someone attacking my Guard gun line with a force of footslogging orks. I had Leman Russes, 2 Medusas, and a Manticore (with some Vet squads).
He tried to attack my force head on with around 50ish boyz, some deffcoptas, and 2 Warbosses (one with 5 Nobz and the other with 5 Mega-Nobz). I ended up instant-deathing most of his mega nobz with my Medusas and Manticore in the first turn, and wiping out both of his warbosses by the 2nd turn.
Needless to say, the rest of the army was wiped out in a similar fashion (he had attacked from the side with commandos and killed the Manticore and a Medusa, but that happened too late to save the majority of his army), and he was defeated by turn 4 (I think).

In FoW (this thread is in dakka discussion, after all) , someone playing a Panzerkompanie placed a platoon of 4 Panzer IIIs and another of 5 Panzer IIs in the open in sight of my 88 equivalents (Italy has different gun with same stats).
In the first 2 rounds 3 Panzer IIIs were destroyed, ( 2 Panzer IIs by other guns, surprisingly the other 3 IIs survived until he failed his company morale check, despite my many attempts to destroy them) and the last hid behind a hill until killed by artillery.
I destroyed his Panzer IVs with my Semovente 75/18s (much to my suprise) and routed his company soon after. He had held his 1st and 2nd in command Panzer IVs behind a hill all game with his Tiger that only took a few shots at my artillery.
Overall, I won the game because of his over-cautious playing style and the fact that his hope that I would panic and try everything to kill his Tiger didn't work (I just ignored it and tried to kill everything else)

That gives me an idea for an amazing dread conversion....if I only had the skills

I charged termis into a double assault with DE wytches. I knew it would end poorly, but it was a friendly game and I wanted to have some fun.

I'm not familiar with DE. Why was that a bad mistake? I imagine they strike first, do they have power weapons?

Me a couple of weeks ago.

I got lumbered with first turn on a DoW game and decided to bring on pretty much all my DE forces in one go (opponent kept everything off the board) to get set up for turn 2 assaults and shooting.

I trusted to flat-out moves to protect my paper planes. Big mistake. Opponent got several 'immobilised' shooting results against me which meant I lost a Ravager, Razorwing and a Raider full of Wyches before I even got a shot off.

Big ouchie.

Sitting on the roof of my house with a shotgun, and a six pack of beers

Recently paying a 2v2 game with friends, IG and BA vs Nids

Played a scenario which was skewed in the nids favour but not the point, knowing that the nids are bringing a lot of Ymgarls and have two of the nids "astropaths" (sorry can't remember the unit name) we reserve a lot of our heavy stuff. His blood angels never turn up (ok know this is more bad luuck than bad tactics but hey)

Same game tank shock a bunch of gaunts into a nice pile with a chimera ready to be flame them with my other chimera's heavy flamer. Used the wrong chimera left trying to flame a group of angry nids with a shaken chimera

PM me and ask me about Warpath Wargames Norwich or send me an email

Behind you

In a custom game (walkers and tanks only) someone tried to ram a chimera, a LRBT, a LAND RAIDER and a stormraven into my dreadnought. Said dreadnought immobilised all vehicles and wrecked the LRBT.

Cue dropped jaws by the opposing teams. Followed by firing EVERYTHING THEY HAD at my dreadnought, which still wasn't enough.

Whenever GW finds out i like something they feel the need to either FUBAR it or quit making it (well, except for DE...those they improved beyond all recognition instead )

Any suggestions for something to like next, that you want removed from the game or radically altered ?

Worst I've made recently: Leaving my Paladins in the open against 3 Obliterators... Plasma Cannons = 400 points dead.

Worst I've seen recently: 30 Orks thinking they could take a charge from fully pimped Assault Term Templars... nope.
