Seriously?
You guys need to get out into the real world. This will not happen.
It always pays more to be cynical and be prepared for the worst than Idealisitc and get a rude surprise. Just saying.

It's not "idealogical". Saying that GW will charge people to win games is suggesting the stupidest possible business model ever. There's no way any business could fathom doing such a thing.

I was using the term Idealistic to mean "the opposite of cynicism" which has become a surprisingly common definition.

That's...not what idealistic means. Nor is it what I'm being.
I'm not suggesting that GW are not corporate money grabbing spankers, I'm just suggesting that they aren't stupid.

I've heard that the turn faze will go:
Assulting
Moving
Shooting

that will realy screw up armys that have fleet.
And I know a few armys that realy need fleet to at least draw.

Don't worry, if you look at the very recent rumours (or leaks) everyone is saying it will now stay the same, so move shoot assault

Umm - GW is a publicly traded company and they are doing quite well. Quit hating and talking about things you don't understand. I am not fond of paying more money, but I will. So will you. We play this game because we love it, not because it is cheap.

They're acheiving a paycheck of over £100,000,000 a year.
Not bad really for the economy.

In 2009 Games Workshop Group plc posted a pre-tax profit of 7.5 Million pounds. Now that's just for the boss, he's getting 1/13. Admittedly he could shave the price by £5 and still get over £2 million.

But heh, he has his life style to look after

Anyway this is tactics not a economy section.
Your army won't be screwed over. It will need minor tweaks.

Lets hope flash gitz become viable

A few glances a turn silences a vindicator. Yuck. Way too expensive to be shut down so easily (chaos vindicators are much better, but chaos is awful right now, so it is a wash...)

Wait on the codex, read it, and play the game.

Uh, a few glances shut down any tank for a turn.

One shaken result means you aren't firing unless you have Power of the Machine Spirit or is Demonic Possessed.

Sure, 115 - 125pts is a lot to be shutdown, but they have to get through the armor 13 first. And, if you are going to take one, you should take 2 or 3.

People take Leman Russes, even though they can be shut down. People take monoliths, etc. Even though they can be shut down.

I don't understand why this particular argument always focuses on Vindicators.

Monoliths got living metal, hard to stun or shake them. Russes don't seem all that popular any more with manticores, hydras, and flying twin linked lascannons 'o doom.

That is exactly why they are bad. No potus = no shooting and they have 1 real gun.

OK, they are side armor 11, and that is what most people will be shooting. One weapon destroyed makes the tank worthless.
Who takes Russes these days? Most take manticores and/or hydras. Monoliths are not very prolific these days either.

Now to a further reality: The Russ and Monolith bring MUCH more to the table than a vindicator. Against a good opponent that understands cover and spacing, you will kill one or two dudes a turn IF you dont get shut down. That is all. No sponsons, no moving troops around. Just a couple of dudes.

Vindicators are fine if your aren't playing in a tournament or being competitive. If you are really trying to win, there are far better choices in the codex. There is a real reason that no winning lists from any major tournament use them.

Russes are also AV 14 and considerably harder to "shut down". A lascannon only has a 1 in 3 chance of glancing/penetrating it.

That's because the STR/AV is a linear progression.

STR 7 has the same chance to hurt AV 13 and STR 8 has vs AV 14.

5+ cover saves and AP 3 power weapons = worse cover for terminators + proliferation of terminators. That sounds like good news for vindicaters

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Power weapons are AP2. We shall see, but I can't imagine an edition that nerfs vehicles making a bad vehicle better...

I'm definitely going to play casual if I play anything at all this edition. I'm done with buying 40k competively if all assault based armies are done in.

Chaos daemons 1850
Chaos Marines 1850
2250+

2500++ (Wraithwing)

I moved so starting from scratch. These were the armies I had, rebuilding my Chaos.

Congratulations, assault armies are buffed. Vehicles are much easier to hit in assault, are easier to kill once you hit them, charge distances are longer, and lots of restrictions were put back on shooting.

What additional restrictions on shooting? Rapid Fire got buffed, Vehicles can fire more often, and Heavy can Snapfire BS1. Meanwhile, Fleet no longer allows Run + Assault. That ends up nerfing Fleet quite a bit.

Edit: fixed an issue with 5th non-fleet chance.

really I thought they toggled win loss
so taking one made you auto lose
taking two made you auto win
and taking 3 made you auto lose

unless you are chaos, in which case you roll a dice, for randomness, and on 2+ you lose.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

okay, so now that some people have rule books (i think) I need to ask more questions.

-Whats the verdict on vindicators? are they now good or bad? I am so confused!

-Were relic blades nerfed? and a bigger question, was Vulkan in general nerfed? does he now suck in CCW? is his rules obsolete? is his heavy flamer nerfed?

-how is the humble speeder now? Are typhoons better than MM/HF?

-are missile launchers an AA gun now? (I just cannot get used to skyfire)

-how are flyers affected?

-are lightning claws still worth it?

Thanks ^^' and if no one has it, maybe I should save it/ revive it when the book actually comes out
