Hi! I know there is nothing but rumors and I wasn't following them all, but wil 6th edition be kind or mean to vindicators? I just bought two and I would really hate to see them get worse or useless :( is there any rumor talking about heavy vehicles?

And btw, how will flamer and blast templates do?

We don't really know for sure.

There's no point in doing anything but painting and playing 5th until 6th comes out.

The only thing we have to go on is the pancake edition. Questionable as its origins are, current rumours show that quite a lot of it seems to be dead on.

Or it could just be a big purple cabbage.

Best way to find out?

Buy 6th edition. Avoid the forums for a month while the shitstorm flares up and slowly calms down - you'll have to fight *very* hard to get any good feedback during that time, and strong opinions are going to be vomiting over all the threads. Look for yourself to see how things have changed, talk to your friends about it in a casual, relaxed setting. Best of all, play games, experience and learn it by yourself.

Personally, I'm going to go through it page by page and make notes in a word document of all the changes, so I can easily refer to it when learning to play all over again. I've been playing for more than three years, and I'm STILL learning a few odd things in 5th edition, so don't expect people to immediately know how it's going to work, don't take people crying doom seriously.

Well, the new rules will affect every army. I have all kinds of armies and so can go with it.

I think it's safe to assume that vindicators will not get any worse.

From what I heard, dark eldar and craftworld eldar reconcile their differences in 6th.

I've also heard that Necrons and Tau forge an alliance over a light sunday brunch.

There was something in the water that day

Also- CSM and daemons have been returned to a single codex, but not like you expect it- Bloodletters with boltguns, hellblades and power armor

I'm going to cut against the grain, here. Yes, we don't know exactly what 6th ed rules will look like, but I can say with certainty that vindicators are going to be awful in specific, and that 6th ed is going to completely ruin your army in general.

It's actually going to make most armies in the game non-viable and uncompetitive.

I hate to say it, but you're so screwed.

...What makes an army?

Is a written up list+models an army, or is your ork army simply every ork model you have?
If its the former- you're so screwed
If its the latter- Laissez faire. I mean my CSM army comprises of heaps plain CSM with lots of special weapons, combiweapons, power weapon and fist and plain champions, 'zerkers, plague-O's, some 1k sons, terminators, a bunch of rhino's, vindicators, preds, the ol' landraider. Looking at it the latter way, I can make many different lists with what I have available in my army. Same with my wolves- the only thing's I can't do for SW are lots of wolf scouts (2 small units max, or 1 big one), triple preds or triple vindi's (I got a pair of both), and TWC which im not terribly interested in- And if I were, I could proxy bloodcrushers if I really really wanted to use them. But I can razorspam, or rhino rush, or footslog it etc.

So for those with larger collections or access to lots of models- she'll be right mate
If your army is the one single list, and you have nothing else-

So while everyone is hoping this will be the edition of (imagined) balance, everyone is convinced it will destroy the game irrevocably? Man, a lot of dislocated knee joints out there...

And if i still played Necrons i'd have a chat with it too

Mine are trukks, Battlewagons, looted wagons and buggies..

My DE ones are marginally better, but not that great evenso (unless i want to cheese out a venomspam list, which doesn't really appeal).

Then you should specify: "...if thay could make my Ork vehicles not suck..."

Also: Nothing really wrong with Ork vehicles.

Depends how blasts, Ordnance, and vehicles are changed.

If it's Infantry Hammer like everyone is claiming it'll be from all the rumors, Vindicators could be decent.

Sounds like according to the rumors non-av 14 vehicles are going to get hosed. Where glances don't currently stack, so one shaken or stunned is all you ever apply, next edition glances will stack like weapon destroyed-immobilized do now. Meaning it will be much easier to glance tanks to death. AV 14 will be a bit more survivable since they get hull points making them harder to bust. A one shot suicide melta won't be able to hurt them.

The best insurance against edition and codex changes is exactly what GW would like it to be- a large and varied collection of models.

New editions and books DO tend to change what's good. The folks who tend to get "screwed" and "need" to buy more models are folks who built a very narrowly-focused army and collection of models exclusively on whatever is best in the current rules.

If you have a variety of different units and models, you tend to ride out the edition changes and get to say things like "Hey, my transports are good again!", like those of us did who started in 3rd, played through 4th (where they were not very good), and then played 5th.

You're not being cynical enough. Lots of people already have lots of infantry and lots of vehicles. 6th ed is going to be a flier edition, because nobody has any of those, and that's the only way that GW is going to make profits so your army is screwed because you have no fliers and if you don't believe that what I'm saying is true then youre an idiot who cant see rumors when theyre true.

Seriously, why don't the mods just auto-lock rumor threads? This is getting ridiculous.
