All the base tabs for our Finecast models said "Space Marine", means nothing really.

I play Black Templars (only a few games so far, but I've won all of them), and love building and painting the models. The look was part of what sold them to me, the other was the freaking HOLY HAND GRENADE from Monty Python!! Of course, now the HHG sucks, but what can you do? I own every BT model that exists now, including the ultra rare/expensive Marshal, Captain Draco and the alternate EC with 2-handed sword. I love each BT model I have, and say go with them-they have some of the coolest SM models out there (please, nobody say wolf models with wild flying hair mixed with power armor are "cool." No, just...no). So play BT, and know that your models won't actually be invalidated by a codex combination if it happens. Sword Brethren? At worst would become exotic Vanguard Vets. Neophytes=scouts, initiates w/ CCW/BP become non-backpack assault marines, with bolter become tacticals, EC becomes a relic blade wielding Chapter Master or Captain, etc, etc.

That said, I really hope BT remains a unique codex-we need some things changed (add bolt pistol to bikes, give all models grenades, lower cost of rhinos/razorbacks) and we're good. Really...that's pretty much all we need. Oh, and preferred enemy back. In fact, one vow for PE, one vow for rage, and I'll be happy to play 2000+ point games only, as that 2000 mark unlocks the option for a second EC...hehe

No, the second FoC doesn't allow two EC. You can only have one on the field. I would see some major complaints about this for the very reason you are attempting to do it. I think we will be getting a new Codex sometime, they are just too many rules that are in 6th edition that should be hours (looking at you specifically, Crusader) and aren't.

Sigh, look at your book again. An EC is required for each force org chart. If memory serves me right, the FAQ also permits a second one if you have a second FOC. I'd point you to the right page in the BT book, but I'm at work and don't have it on me, but I believe it's on pg 2 of the FAQ. Memory has been a bit hazy as of late, but it's a legit option according to opening a second FAQ.

Tabs on the models have nothing to do with the name of the product and what it is for. Some of mine say 2003 on them. Is that an army?

Pretty sure the tag labels represent the armys. I have experience with "Space Marines" and "Space Orcs". If BA, SW, and DA are tabbed accordingly thats great. Finecast BT were produced at a time when there was no question of them getting rolled. Therefore a SM tag on a speculative shipping list is irrelevant regarding BT codex rolling.

Also quite certain your "2003" minis were molded in 2003. Wild guess.
