That is pretty dramatic. I like that you clarified the circumstances under which you continued playing your game. Continuing to play during a seperation if you are only on turn 2 is considered a faux pas according to the TTG handbook. Did you win?

The closest I've come to this is the wife of our D&D DM yelling threats of divorce at him over their two screaming children during play in their cramped living/dining room. Thus ending my most succesful attempt at engaging in roleplaying at two sessions.

I did, yes. Got a bead on his Patriarch with a Leman Russ near the end and wiped it off the board. That ended the game.

At this one tournament, the second game I played was against a new opponent. I braced myself for some hardcore, in-game conversation, and not much else. But then I was surprised when he was very nice. He had a nicely painted display board and army and they looked great. He commented on some of my paint jobs and I thanked him. In-game he was very nice and even said things like "nice shot" when I blew apart his army with my demolisher cannons. He was a great opponent and we thanked each other and shook hands after the game.

The next opponent was a jerk. He was also playing IG but they were half painted and put together. We didn't talk. He said he controlled two objectives when he clearly was almost 4" away from them and I had a unit on the objectives. He overmeasured a lot and also did first rank fire second rank fire on his snipers, shotguns, and lascannons even though you can only do it on lasguns. Even with his mangled rules I still managed to tie the game, though I would have won if the TO was there at the time.

It was still a fun tournament though.

The good: I'd say any game that was close and any that went back and forth are the most fun for me. I do like the wacky too, like one time my vindicator shot scattered onto my rifle dread blowing it up and the 6" explosion hits two of my squads and two of his. Lots of wounds and noone dies. Or dice rolling all to hit and miss all to wound. That's how odds work right?

The bad: At an Ard Boyz I played an eldar player that didn't bring a list (ok whatever), didn't have his codex when I had questions, (ldrship 9?...) but the biggest problem was his models weren't built. Like no guns on walkers and some wave serpents had no turrets etc. He also didn't put dice or any kind of marker by what was weapon destroyed or immobilized.

the amount of questions i have right there is just too many!

Just had another good experience.

My buddy foot guard vs my air calv. We play with random objectives and forests. Field is covered with them, thought it be fun. Every single objective of his was a bomb, and every forest on the table was full of raptors. TNT RAPTORS OF JUSTICE! needless to say the board killed him more then i did. My troops just flew around in the airplanes and watched the carnage. We both laughed and shook hands.

The best non-roleplaying gaming experience happened when I played Star Wars CCG. We had a regular game night every week and tournaments every other weekend. To break up the monotony, we decided to have a themed tournament.

Your dark side deck had to have the Death Star and you had to try to blow up other planets. The light side decks had to have attack run cards and you had to try to blow up the Death Star. If you won your game but didn't do one of these things, then the game was called a true tie for both players.

I brought out the wackiest decks I could make. At one point, the TO walked by our table and asked "Is that Yoda and Obi Wan in a Y-Wing making an attack run?" "Yes." "OK. Carry on..."

Freaking hilarious tournament.

"Red 5, are you sure this attack run is a good idea?"

At least one person is. If I had a girlfriend who demanded I stop engaging in my hobby, she'd no longer be my girlfriend. I've dumped girls for way less than trying to control my life. Wife is different of course, but only slightly. Serves him right I guess, for getting married in the first place.

My best? That has to be this Apoc game we where having at my local GW. I was the grand commander for my side and i had 1.5K of IG. Facing me directly opposite was around 1 and a half companys worth of darkangels. First turn and we get initative and do a bit. Then the enemys turn. 1 lascannon shot from the DA and the shadow sword we had goes nova. Its position was the worst thing-directly central in our lines-our best asset goes up and craters half our force with it . Not to be detered i rally my fellows and proceed to rectify the situation. One of the best moments is when an ultramarines player whom ive tasked with the removal of a Necron task force. His lascannon dread loses its CCW and then proceeds to blitz all 3 monoliths with its lascannons leaving them smoking wrecks(this was in 5th ed). my commander regenerates(this music came on and the staff said whoever did the best slowmo death could bring a figure back-i won and regenerated my commander whom was also an objective). My Khantonians formed a firing line and fended off the entire DA company as well as a flanking assault from orks and necrons although at the end my commander and the remnants of my Grenadier unit had to head centre board and the DA made one final push finally overrunning our position but at what a cost-there where only 5 models left-some vets and a terminator-out of the entire company(the other half company was left holding an objective) and they where still taking fire from my last lascannon. during this game our shadow sword had regenerated on the enemys side(another staff rule-each turn he who could role a 6 on the start of there turn shall have the nukelaser tank). All in all this was a close bloody and fun game that ended in a draw and was a great experience for all.

My worst? First Warmahoardes game-My cryx versus Khador. I lost and it was a good game but i foun that i had accidently been cheating(Using Influence to make my opponents jacks beat themselves to death). Still i apologised as soon as i saw him again and we are friends and besides as he said he did win

Your Cryx had a hard time? You just keep your opponent slowed down and run around them to get to Sorcha, have you played more Warmahordes since then?

Yes. It was actually an enjoyable game-as i said the only reason its bad is because i accidently cheated in a complete newbie mistake. I still play and find it very fun and im soon (hopefully) to be getting some Bile Thralls.

that apoc game sounds like a good game. Making a rule mistake always happens to me, often in my foes favor. Store calls them (my name modification rules) and everyone laughs because it screws me 9/10 times. All in all it friendly however. Still i am a local joke on rules.

My best gaming experience, was having a freshly painted new big mek with KFF that i got for my birthday. I kitted the mek out with a killa kan power klaw, and spent around 30 hours of time getting the poor dude to a table paint. (was such a bad painter back then). However, i walked in the store and received much praise for the orky dude . It really touched my heart that day; was feeling down, and was expecting the work to be trashed. Most of the fellow gamers were harsh on comments and sometimes laughed at models. nothing i couldn't take however. . The highlighting moment of this though was the long tradition of newly painted models dying terribly, because they had too. Not this guy, he made 6 5++ saves at one time. As a result, he slew Kharne the betrayer, and swept the bezerkers. That won the game for me, and both of us where laughing and shaking hands. It was a fine moment where defeat/victory didn't matter.

That was nice.
I always try and kids that that special mini they have converted in their army looks really cool. Makes them happy and the games are more enjoyable for that.

i do try to do the same thing with younger kids who got that model too. Often feed them a silly amount of things to kill with it just so they feel good. Unless of course that kid is around my age, then that model has got to die terribly. Muahahaha
