This also leads to proof of my theory that austraila was gods dumping ground for all his failed animals.
Seriously, Why do people live there?

No... that's Alaska... they have skeeters that attacks birds. (not really, but they are fething big).

Normal size in the lower 48 states:

I've seen 'em bigger than this, but here's a shot of the Alaskan skeeters:

Thankfully, it only get's warm enough in most of Alaskas for these buggers to show up for 2-6 weeks out of the year.

That's true...

There's another flying bug that annoying... smaller than the skeeters, but they actually take a bite out of you... (names escapes me now).

Happened to me once when fishing near Mt. Denali... damn that hurt. and oh, I was more afraid of the Moose than the bears.

Bears left me alone. (we had enough artillery too).

Well in the South they have the "No-see-ums" that like to hide in tall grass.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Gaaaaaaaaaaah those little s! Every. Single. Day. when I was stationed in Florida. PT was hell because those things just love dawn for some reason. Till the run started each individual had their own personal swarm, if the run pace was slow enough the swarm would come along.

Alaska's win though, I agree with Whembly, I miss it up there.

Yeah dude, from all the survival courses I've taken part in, and whatnot, the best thing apparently for them, especially if you see them (or not) is to wear sunglasses on the back of your head, or your hat backwards. The obvious thing of never go into the fething woods alone! and if you do happen to come across one, don't turn your back on it, and if you are with a group of people, stand with your arms around each others shoulders (like a rugby scrum), and be really obnoxiously fething loud (like fans at sporting events)... The idea of standing so close is that the cougar can not pick out an individual person, and instead thinks that the prey is in fact, much larger and therefore more dangerous than it is, so it "should" leave you be.

Of course, none of this advice is any good in the cougar's other natural habitat:
