I love all of 40k's lore and such, but I will have to admit that I really dislike Tau and Elder. Visually I find them rather atrocious. They don't feel like they belong in a grim dark setting. Sure you could paint them dark colors to ease that but they still just don't work for me.

Dark Eldar.

I'd wipe every single one out in a heartbeat if I could.
A pitiful existence based off other races torture and suffering.

I hate thee.

Demons. Ive always hated the models, they look horrible. There is no point to winning if you win with a lame looking army.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

I agree ^

I could never paint or get into Daemons. I'm not a big hater of the Tau, but I've yet to play any games against them, so that's subject to change. I've never really liked Eldar much either.

This is also relevant:

The Necrons, as their new fluff just killed it for me, that and the going full tomb king on everything. I don't even know how they were able to capture and break apart their "gods". That's the part that just seems too ridiculous for me.

Imperial Guard, as the cadians and catchatans I just find terribly boring on execution, I do love the idea of the normal human stuck in this universe though.. I'd always play mine in a last stand kind of scenario.

Last are the Space Wolves, who I hate with a passion since their heresy fluff and background came out. I started learning about them from the Ragnar Blackmane books, and I really loved them in that, but man the heresy books just really really killed them for me.

How they're seemingly The bestest disciplined troops ever who hide it with their feral act , or that they somehow understand the warp better than the Thousand Sons and the Emperor and can use it freely while condemning others for it. Of course when they use it its totally different, and its not the warp, its the "power of Fenris" or whatever they call it. And I don't want to even get into all the gak they can get away with with no reprisal, when other chapters have been wiped out for less. The authors need to stick to a theme and stop letting their fan-girl side do the writing for them.

Dark Eldar without a doubt.

Necrons may be a close second.

Honestly, porting more Fantasy into 40K was the last thing the universe needed. Especially the way they implemented the ridiculously awful Dark Eldar space fetishists who live in some alternate reality.

No really, think about that for a second and how stupid it is, even by "Everything in 40K is a little ridiculous" standards.

Tomb King Terminators were also unneeded.

Honestly? Tyranids. I play them but I dislike them. The fact that nothing will ever be able to triumph over them takes suspense out of the 40k universe and I dislike the fact you have to include either a tervigon or flyrant to do well in a tournament...

Nothing? Well, nothing except the Ultramarines, twice.

I dunno, you can't really hold the "unstoppable doom" thing against the Tyranids anymore. Back in 2nd Edition that might have been true. Now they just +1'd the rest of the universe and now Orks and Necrons and Chaos are unstoppable too.

Necrons for one reason, High leadership and reanimation protocols. makes them near impossible to push off an objective. Everything else I can handle with relative ease, but not that.

Space wolves, reasons given by others.

Orks. I just don't "get" them. Maybe space barbarians needed to be a thing, but nothing about the orks makes any logical sense. The defense "Don't worry they are orks, it's not supposed to make logical sense" just annoys me further.

I am really surprised at the amount of tyranid hate. In my group of friends they are the most loved faction by quite some distance. (I suppose we are all in the same country and of the same age, so its not a good sample).

I'm not saying you are "wrong" to dislike the tyranids (I hate it when people tell me I like or dislike the "wrong" things), I am just saying I am surprised so many people here do.

IG, only becuase they look like they belong in a WWII Tabletop game, not sci-fi. With that said, Orks also look like they don't belong (just replace WWII with Fantasy) but I find their whole fluff darkly hilarious, so I'm okay with them.

Eldar/Dark Eldar mainly because of their poncy, squishy duplicitous yet haughty "I know better than all of you" nature and my intolerance/bigotry towards anything remotely elvish.

Other than that probably Space Marines. Very few chapters don't emphasize or flaunt their "special snowflake" status and how they are distinct from other types of space marines based on very superficial grounds despite sharing so many similarities with Space Marines. That plus much of the Black Library fluff unfortunately fail to depict them in a less human manner despite their status as an almost distinct separate species which often leads to them being shown as man-children.

In regards to gameplay I hate the Necrons as they are extremely tough to fight and always seem to have an answer for anything you may throw against them, have only ever won one game against them.

Model wise I cant stand Demons or Catachan Guardsmen. Demon models have always been kinda "meh" and not big a fan of their fluff as well. The Catachan models plain and simple are the WORST IG regiment they could have chosen to make as plastic as well, I would gladly take the Praetorians, Mordian Iron Guard, Steel Legion, Vallhallan or Vostroyan anyday.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

I'm gonna agree with everyone else and say Tau.
Granted it's hilarious when you deepstrike 30 THSS terminators into their gunline in a 2500 point game and watch the ensuing carnage. I only lost 3 terminators when I did this & killed two riptides, two hammerheads, 6 crisis battlesuits. I never stopped laughing.
But when the player is smart you can never get into melee and herein lies the problem gameplay wise: A good percentage of the time you won't ever get into melee with them.
I love the idea of a pathetic young race thinking they're at the top when they're surrounded by things superior to themselves they think of as superstition. If looked through this perspective they don't really ruin the setting.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

The Catachans and Cadians could work if their models weren't so damn ugly.

The DKoK and Elysians prove that plastic/resin IG can be beautiful, but the ugly Cs spoil it all.

I'd also like the other regiments to come in plastic and resin, hopefully without looking like they're taking a painful dump.

Eldar, actually. Bunch of arrogant pricks
Seriosly though; I don't think I like a single thing about them. Their fluff, models, the way they work on the table and overall aesthethics, don't like them one bit.
Same goes for any Elf race, I just can't stand them. Dark Eldar is a close second (obviously), I will never be seen using them in any way, Looted stuff notwithstanding

Kronk summed my feeling up on page one. I'll add that I personally hate the Space Wolves because they never, ever lose, they get away with everything they do without explanation and they get everything nice +1 in-game.

No. Just relating to you what people like John Blanche and Jes Goodwyn are on the record saying their inspiration is.

You (don't want to) see it? Fine. Don't blame me for your childish attempt to attach "anime" as a derogatory to the miniatures you don't like and keep it away from those you do like. You're letting your own bias of "miniature x = bad" and "anime = bad" hence "miniature x = anime" dictate your self-deception.

Upon further reflection, maybe this thread isn't such a good idea.

Whatever race you hate, someone else probably likes - so, it the interest of stopping things from spiraling out of control and keeping things positive - thread closed!
