Well, it's funny to note in a thread about X-wing because it was an Imperial fighter pilot (Jagged Fel) who eventually became the Emperor of the Good Empire of Wonderful Justice in the EU. Empire fan service is exactly the right phrase.

Well, on that note you should see the Empire in the Legacy graphic novels, if you haven't already. Talk about a reform!

I think we're talking about the same Empire of Sunshine and Dignity here. Roan Fel is Jagged's grandson.

Ah. I am pretty weak on EU stuff (especially the Vong-era stuff), I thought there was something around the time of Jagged that you were referring to.

Though now that I've watched it again it was actually one of the wingmen, not Vader, that hit Wedge (and probably would have killed him if not for his character shield).

I don't think it's fair to call Wedge "Character Shielded" at Yavin- he had barely any more screentime than any of the other rebels (less than Biggs in some cuts), and was really just the rebel who got lucky (and was ordered to withdraw when damaged) and lived. After that he became "the pilot we recognize who isn't Luke" at Hoth and Endor. He only really became a major character in the EU, when they needed someone to help catch the space-battle aspect of the setting while Luke was being a Jedi.

I don't have the Tie Interceptor but does it have the same stats as these 'elite' Tie Interceptors? So it would be feasible to get a few of these 'elite' packs instead and get a single Tie Interceptor for its cards then?

Dude- Wedge is three actors in the movies. He is an extra that was so pivotal to the plot he was re-voiced and recast, rather than replace him with another fictional pilot name. He is triple character shielded.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.

He had less screen time, but I think he was always intended to be a recurring character. As you said, just looking at the first movie he doesn't have any more of a role than the various rebel pilots who are killed instead of damaged, so saving him only makes sense if you intend to use the character later. And so he gets a minor character shield in that he gets away with a damaged ship instead of exploding. That doesn't reflect poorly on the TIE that shot him, it just means he was the designated lucky survivor.

Yes. The stats of the ship and the model (other than the paint colors) are exactly the same. The only difference rulse-wise is which cards it comes with.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

So basically what you guys are saying is Wedge flew off the edge of the board with 1 hull point.

Bit of threadmacy, but vaders ship was called the x-1 prototype, was equipped with a small hyperdrive, shield system and complement of ship to ship missiles. A prototype would suggest that Siener were working on improvements that matched incoms designs.
