You can keep all the special toys; I want Lumbering Behemoth on the LR sorted, Vanquishers that can fire explosive shell as well, sentinels with more upgrades, 5point hunter killer missiles and a drop in points for Ogryns..... Maybe a buff for ratlings.....and new kits for everything!

The rumor is that this is an **expansion** that allows you to take normally Apoc only units outside of an Apocalypse game. GW has already done this once before, with the Spearhead "expansion." So I guess GW was stupid when they did that a couple of years ago?
Anyway, I am going to guess that, if the rumor is true, then it will probably be just the Spearhead rules reworked for 6th edition. Except that, instead of a "free" article in White Dwarf or as a downloadable pdf from their website like it was before, it's going to be hard bound with shiny pictures of all the big toys and a few pages of rules thrown in, all for the low low price of $50.
Superheavies and Gargantuan creatures in regular games aren't so bad. I mean, we already have the Wraith Knight. Just as long as they don't have D-weapons, that is. D-weapons in their current form are ridiculous even for Apocalypse games.

A lasgun Sgt option would be very nice as well. I have no idea why it was ever removed.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Don't really understand how you can vouch for 5-man vet squads and still expect Stormtroopers to be in the game.

Stormtroopers can deep-strike accurately, vets cannot. There will still be every need for stormtroopers.
I'm actually pretty happy about the (rumoured) change to 5-man squads. Veterans as they currently exist are powerful, but a bit stupid. They're just very cheap ways of getting BS4 special weapons, and putting it in a cheap AV 12/10/10 box to make it far too durable for its intended purpose.
5 man squads would balance it by making them a lot less durable, and they're already pretty fragile. Plus all we know for now its that it's a 5-man box. They may have simply gone to 5-10 in unit size, making this panic irrelevent. Personally I'd like to see them get some use without simply being special weapon carriers. Maybe an upgrade that made them shoot lasguns as salvo 4/2 or something.

So they're stormtroopers that can't deepstrike. Such fabulous unit diversity in the Imperial Guard.

Such fabulous unit diversity in the Imperial Guard.
And that don't have Hellguns and have access to Bastonne(currently).
Stormtroopers are the problem, not Veterans. Stormtroopers are an absolutely underwhelming unit choice that could have been made amazing with even a modicum of effort. Cruddace is terrible though, and we got what we saw.

And have AP - shooting weapons.
And they can take an extra special weapon (presumably).
And are a load cheaper.
And have 5+ save.
But yeah other than that they're identical.

I was talking about the rumors where we will get things like Baneblades in the regular codex. We get them with almost every rumor update and are pretty much the first thing I look for when I see one pop up. When I see it I know the rumor is bogus.
And if they do add the super heavy units to the main game I'm officially done. I've been selling off lots of stuff but have hung on to a small amount of models in case the game gets better, but if the new IG codex has Baneblades or other shenanigans I'm done. The riptide and Eldar Voltron have almost convinced me to sell. All it will take is one more and I'm donr for good

To be fair it is an actual expansion rather than a part of the core rules. Sounds like apocolypse Lite. Sounds alright to me, since it'd be cool to include one or two apocolypse models without the insanity that is apocolypse.

Nah, it would be either treated as an expansion (as in very few tourneys will allow it, like FW) or people will just naturally avoid it. People in my area are incredibly reluctant to play anything that isn't standard 40k, and this would probably be treated no differently.
I'm not exactly sure why I care to be honest, I haven't played a match big enough to allow even a single apoc unit in a long time.

I can't possibly see how they ever could limit Veterans to 5-man squads. 5-10 on the other hand makes perfect sense. That way they can both sell a 5-man kit you can legally field and have you buy another in order to make it a universally viable unit (having Veterans in a five man kit might make further sense if they share the same box with Stormtroopers). I don't think even GW is keen to sell big unit boxes whose content can not be legally fielded alone.
